SCP 009 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as Red Ice.
SCP-009 is a substance that superficially resembles distilled water (H2O), except with a distinct bright red hue.
In contrast to mundane water, SCP009 assumes a liquid phase at temperatures between -100°C and 0°C, and a solid state above those temperatures. At temperatures below -100°C, SCP-009 vaporizes into a gaseous phase similar to steam.
It's suggested that SCP-009 may originate in a universe with alternate physical laws.
The most hazardous property of SCP-009, however, is its ability to contaminate normal H2O. When in contact with any aqueous solution, SCP-009 will, through unknown mechanisms, transfer its anomalous properties to other objects and creatures.

Scp-3023 - a phenomenon in which an object will abruptly develop an arachnoid form and gain motility in the presence of humans. SCP-3023 has thus far occurred exclusively in a well-defined region of central Germany. This occurs on an irregular basis, with an average of two months between occurrences. Objects affected by SCP-3023 are collectively designated SCP-3023-A. SCP-3023-A will behave erratically, generally moving around their vicinity at random and using their legs and pincers to attack anything they come in contact with. SCP-3023-A display speed, durability, and physical strength far in excess of what their structure and composition should allow. Destruction or dismemberment of the object is sufficient to cause anomalous properties to cease.

I think the reason why the ice does this to any being with heat on or in their body is because of the nature of the ice itself. It freezes on hot surfaces and heats up on cold surfaces, so the solution on curing 009 is to cryogenically freeze someone.

Some authors use as a substitute for creativity. I know if I see too many black bars then it's going to suck. The whole thing is stupid anyway as documents would only be censored if they were being released which isn't the case with the SCP foundation, it's assumed that if you're reading an active file that you have access to that file. It should only be used sparingly or not at all.

Oh! Interesting idea! What if SCP-242 the Self “Cleaning” Pool and this one came into contact with each other, what would win? The red ice can contaminate all water, and SCP-242 can remove all things not typical water from it.

Here's a few possibilities: 1. The pool wins: it neutralizes the ice into distilled water. 2. Neither wins: the red ice remains floating as an ice cube in the pool. Neither is able to change the other. 3. The ice wins. You now have a dangerous frozen pool of red ice with no self-cleaning properties. 4. Both win. You now have a self-cleaning pool of red ice that converts everything placed in it into more red ice. However, it only flows when the temperature drops below freezing.

it's probably easier and safer to keep it liquid to extract and experiment with it, if kept solid they they either have to make it liquid anyway to extract some, or break of pieces and risk small shards breaking off and contaminating other things

I have to admit that i don't understand why the fondation keep it cold, on a liquid to gas state. I mean those two are way more unpredictable than a solid state that keeps it's form, where a containment breach of scp 009 in gas form would be just uncontainable and would spread to the entire world, because it's not being a gas that will prevent it from getting into contact with you.

I wonder if you could cure a person afflicted with 009 using extremely low temperatures, maybe using a cryogenic pod which I'm pretty sure exists in scp but I don't remember the object number. I imagine it'd only work if it was early in the affliction and just on the surface and it'd simply boil off the person, but if the ice was internal they'd boil alive

The slow freezing makes sense; the longer a phase shift from liquid to solid takes, the more the molecules can align in structured ways, and thus the larger the resulting crystals can become. The designation of "009" also brings to mind the speculative disaster scenario surrounding a substance called "Ice IX," which is a micro-crystalline arrangement of water molecules that is SO stable, and potentially virulent, that any other water molecules that came into contact with it would also be converted into Ice IX. Fortunately, the thermodynamic conditions required to create and sustain the type 9 crystalline arrangement of ice are very rare on Earth. The fear of conversation of all water into Ice IX flows in the same vein of logic that the detonation of atomic bombs would make all of our atmosphere start burning inhospitably. This simply isn't the case, and thank God for that.

Hey! I would like to suggest an SCP to talk about. It's SCP-050-PT, also known as The Sack Man. When i was reading the wiki page about him, i remembered a history that my parents used to tell me when i was just a child. They told me that exists a old man that walks on the streets looking for alone kids, we used to call him the sack man, he usually uses candies to lure kids to him, so that he could kidnap then to later consume they're internal organs. That is a history usually told by parents to make they're kids don't stay alone on the streets and to don't accept anything from strangers as well, it was told by my grandparents to my parents and they told me as well. It resembles a lot SCP-050-PT.

Wait, if it turns to steam at low temperatures, and freezes at high temperatures, why would they want to keep it cold? Wouldn't it be easier to contain as a solid block of ice?
