The problem is that there's not a hole lot of information on the old man to begin with so this could be possible but Dr.Scranton's fate is still very horrible...

To be honest, he's one of the SCP that scares me and gave me nightmares when you think of it you can make 131 stare at 173, hide from 076-2 and 682, and fight back against 049 and 035. But this one SCP-106 gave me nightmares and keeps me awake at night. I think it is because of my fear of abandoned corridors, or the thought of a monster that kills for 'fun.'

You'd think that an organization as smart and important as the SCP foundation would probably have some sort of device or mechanism to stop the entire facility from blowing up after a small earthquake.

Most people, like me, think he was once a military corporal or other rank of officer in the military during WW1 or WW2, before ending up in a mental hospital after falling into some kind of goop. He was never seen again the same after that. All that was found was a circle of teeth from every patient in the mental hospital.

So obviously this is heartbreaking and tragic, but can we just talk about how good the voice acting is??? He ATE here

Always hated this idea. If the old man was just feeding a hunger it might make sense. But the old man enjoys the horrific tortures he puts his victims through.

Not to be insensitive, but I don't think any tragic backstory can justify 106's severe sadism

This story would explain the time when the Foundation took a picture of 106 with SCP 978, the picture resulting was a picture of 106 on a farm with an old lady who was waiting patiently on the porch for 106, the old lady was probably Anna Lang, Robert Scranton’s wife who he wanted to see and be with again

NGL, I do prefer the CPL. Lawrance story as much as I love this one. There's far more of a mystery to that one, like what's that pit he fell into? Has he always been so sadistic before falling in there or was he just an awkward loner? The Red Room is great enough to stand as it's own SCP story ^u^

I thought 106 was just a heartless killer, but no. He was a man lost to insanity. He just wanted to get back to his wife, I understand that.

Day 5 asking for SCP-7070 SCP-106 is definitely one of my favorite SCPs and all of his origin stories are incredibly interesting

I feel like this is the most accepted version of 106 orgins.

I wonder if there's a story out there (and if not get writing!) where the "old man" could have worked out a way to infect Anna instead, have her recognize him (after all, she did in the end, even melting away) and kiss him back or something, and join him in his little dimension for a "Happy" ending? The Foundation has to keep them both contained, but does not keep them apart, or there would be no end to the containment breaches and deaths? And if they are kept together, they are far less inclined to go seek prey? After all, two SCP 106's can't be killed by any conventional means anyways, and if it is known who they used to be, then perhaps they've earned their "happy" retirement?

Considering the tale of 106 wearing the Possessive Mask, I believe this origin story is the version this channel considers cannon.

Could the reality that he got put into also be his pocket dimension, like he learned how to control the “gel” and was then able to make whatever he wanted. And he takes people there to make them loose their sanity so that they would be like him and he attacks them to make it go quicker

The origin story I've heard for this before, was a young man during WW1 in the trenches and comes across an opening into some gooey darkness that he goes into and ends up being corrupted. Can't remember what SCP channel that was on though.

So the dr Scrantin back story, the reason why i like it was based on the possesive mask video where he controls the old man and sees into the mind of the old mans true form.The idea he's in there be it ever so faintly gives the old man some depth.

I think the Corporal Lawrence Theory makes sense for SCP-106. Like it would be more logical to explain why he has that urge to kill with no motivation at all. With the Scranton theory, it doesn’t make sense with the fact he kills to get to Anna and kinda contradicts the file

This story is good. But in the end, it is only a creepypasta who tries to deepen a little the lore of another creepypasta. I prefer the SCP-106's origin story which presents him as a First World War soldier. The idea of a man becoming an immortal creature of pure cruelty and violence in order to survive one of the most violent and traumatic events in the history of humanity seems to me to be a somewhat deeper origin.

Alright I have a theory the red reality is the early version of 106s pocket dimension and it has access to it do to spending so many years in their and partly fusing to it

I remember the other origin for scp 106 being from ww1 while the story said they don’t know where corporal Lawrence came from I feel like he was just a regular person but he had some type of anomaly relating to rot and then following in that hole made his anomaly stronger but also war itself was already breaking him mentally so that all contributed to what he is today

Those wondering the event here is SCP 3001 I guess they mixed both parts of the story with the origin of 106

scp idea hippie able (if able was put in the clockworks scp 914) one day while dr bright and dr clef are talking near ables containment cell when he breaches containment. dr bright and dr clef run in 2 different directions to trick him where able runs after dr bright where he leads him into the clocks works to trap him until mtfs arrive where him and dr palmer who was already going to put a pumpkin in the clocksworks with an attemps to get a pumpkin spice latte. where they decide to see what would happen if able was changed from the clocksworks so they put him in on very fine. where after it was done he looked different. his tattoos were gone and he was wearing a tye dye tshirt a fringe vest. a tye dye bandana round sunglasses and a peace sign necklace. when they tried talking to him he had changed. his anger, rage, and intentions to kill were all gone. he was no longer a psychopathic killer. he had also spoke like a hippie when he was being brought to be experimented on he was calling other researchers dude, and dudette. and was even throwing up hang loose signs. when brought to his cell to see what else had changed scp 076-1 had also changed with it being a van with the inside being like a smallhouse. with a small coffee table, a lava lamp, a fish tank, plants, and a desk top fan. when the researchers tested him they found out he could still grab his weapons but had no use for them any more. he was also able to grab instruments such as bongos, acoustic guitars, and a sitar. when he was killed his ashes would become compost which would make the plants grow in a matter of hours and could also revive plants cain had stepped on.
