fun fact: there is always been a possibility that you have encountered an scp entity before but you don't remember because you were given amnestics afterward.
As someone who’s done several sleep studies the attention to detail was pretty damn good. I’d say the only thing is that when you hear sleep “study” you might think it’s some clinical study or something like that but it’s not. A sleep study’s purpose is to diagnose the patient on the individual level. I’m sure there are actually studies with control groups and everything, but that’s more for like testing medications, or testing certain theories like how blue light affects sleep and such, but man all the wiring and machines are so accurate. I’d say the only thing is that the witting isn’t just on your face and forehead it’s literally your entire body including your legs
@@jerrykim7777 good question! They really encourage you to use the bathroom before the study and not eat or drink anything after 5pm or so. That way it’s less likely to interrupt the study. Because it’s important not to. They give you sedatives to really knock you out so you don’t have to worry about anything keeping you up. They gave me alprazolam, I’m sure it could be different depending on where you go, but that’s how it was for me.
@@jerrykim7777 there’s different kinds of studies too. Funny enough I don’t think they actually give you a c-pap machine, I know I didn’t use one. But I think in the initial study they don’t because they want to test you for apnea and if you’re hooked up to a machine, the symptoms will never show themselves.
@@jerrykim7777 but anyways I’ve done two kinds. The first, it’s an all night thing, they hook you up with all kinds of electrodes, give you a sedative, and you go to bed from like 11:00 to 3 or 4 am. And then there’s ones where I did during the day where they scan your brain and only your brain, and you basically take a nap for an hour or 2 and they don’t give you any medications or hook you up other than a brain scan cap with those little holes that they put gel and wires in. But yeah they take into account everything, they understand peoples sleep patterns and insomnia more than anyone so they’ll help you deal with everything
A good way to counter SCP-3060 is to use 2840, Apex Nightmare. The creature fights nightmares, allowing people to get a good night's sleep. But it can only treat 1 person at a time and it cannot multiply.
Apart from the fact that cross-testing SCPs if very frown upon (and generally goes very badly), it might not work. The effects of 3060 might be not linked to actual restless sleep, but an effect of the creatures, which in turn are not necessarily nightmares and therefore not susceptible to 2850.
@@Jake007123I feel as though you can fight it as long as it has a manifestation it helps to fight off even things that aren’t real life in a way or the scp teddy bear like scp 3660 to stop the invaders and remove them it’s not bad to help people tormented by horrible scps like the slow burn sloth is just down right nightmare fuel as there could be a way to stop it and we don’t know how you could literally be stuck in your own body and your only moments of lucidity is when you have just one hour a day the rest is your body being a puppet for the thing and it’s a good thing that the scp can only appear on very old and strange like 1970s video tapes but it makes you wonder just what exactly is it and so on like how did it happen and the strange scary scenery of something that looks like a sloth costume.
This video actually made me look back. I had encounters with sleep paralysis back then and I saw a figure resembling that from 14:08 which I do not want to check again as it terrified me for some reasons. What made the encounter so scary is that it kept getting closer to my face as I stay motionless on the bed. I'm starting to regret watching this video just before going to bed.
From my understanding that old woman is the most common sleep paralysis hallucination. Typically she is seen descending from the height of the ceiling, slowly, until she is almost nose-to-nose with the unfortunate human--who feels like they are being held to the bed by something unreasonably strong. It is a hallucination of REM sleep, which always provides your most intense and vivid dreams, both good and bad. If you look at an EEG and EMG during natural REM sleep you will have trouble distinguishing the EEG signals from true wakefulness. The EMG, however, will nearly flat-line (paralysis) absent even the baseline muscle tone seen when motionless but awake.
My guess would be that the author of the SCP article used a list of descriptions of sleep paralysis hallucinations from the real world and used them as descriptions of the creatures.
I imagine the author used descriptions of real sleep paralysis hallucinations, which are terrifying if you think about the situation where someone might see one.
I survived many sleep paralysis all my life, it is actually my near death experience. Watching this scp is really cool and creepy at the same time. Love your videos Dr. Bob!
Sleep paralysis is a result of lack of sleep or nervous system failures. They're never lethal and cause hallucinations most of the time. It wasn't a near death experience, you're just too superstitious for your own good
The scary part is that literally anything can involve an SCP, even something as refreshing as sleep. I've now officially learned the existence of at least 4 SCPs that revolve around sleep itself: Sleep Killer (SCP-966), A Cowbell (SCP-513), Dark Form (SCP-080), and this Sleep Paralysis Demon one.
I was a sleep tech for over a decade, so this was entertaining to watch! I had no idea there was a CPAP SCP, haha! Very cool. If this had happened to me during a study, I would've probably reacted the same way as the tech in the story. Yay for me.
I liked this episode of Dr Bob a lot more than the last few ones. I enjoy the stories in the first half but I do like to actually learn about the SCP itself. Dr Bob hasn’t been giving us much info on the SCPs lately. We don’t even learn the containment class or containment measures anymore
I know right? 😮 Dr Bob completed the most op evolution ever. He started off as a nightmare and now he literally exists as his own entity that observes and classifies/documents other entities
Last night I had a weird dream that I was helping students knock down rats climbing up a balcony on the second floor of their school. It felt more like a game than a nightmare.
This reminds me of my horrifying experience with a sleep paralysis nightmare. Im alone that night. In that dream I felt like i woke up but i cant move or scream, i start looking around but my vision is kinda blurry, then i saw something. a silhouette of something big with a long hair like this one 14:07 sitting on my chest looking down at me. when it started to move closer to my forehead and l feel its drooling on my head. i was terrified but i cant do anything..i dont remember what happened from there. but when i finally woke up i felt something weird on my forehead, there is something on it like a thin layer of dried glue, like a dried saliva. i dont know how it got there. but i am sure that the Thing i saw has something to do thing it.
My girlfriend also has sleep problems. Although she doesn't sleep often at my home. She sometimes wakes up at night and texts me saying that she isn't sleeping well. Hope she won't go there lol
I really love the ending LoL instead of the usual it turns out that Dr Bob is the nightmare for these creatures Good old immortal Dr Bob giving SCPS a migraine lol and trolling them
The thing about this SCP is that it feels personal to me. I've had insomnia and chronic sleep paralysis ever since I was 8. My first SP experience had me see these lanky shadow hands emerge out from under the foot of my bed. They kept growing and growing, getting closer to me. As this was happening, I also had a hard time breathing: like I was underwater and using those coffee mixer straws for air. I felt like I basically suffocating while these claws just kept grabbing at my body. I tried to call out to my mom, brothers, anyone. I was basically screaming. It wasn't until the hands reached my chest that I jolted awake, dripping with sweat and my heart pounding. One of my brothers passed my room at that moment and I realized that all my efforts to call for help was for nothing. Which I think is far scarier than the actual demon hands.
I just wanna start off by saying I love your videos and the backstory you add to the SCP's. That said, I really think you should consider adding a 5 dollar tier to your patreon, as it's comparable to a twitch sub and would be much more palatable for more people. I think you would get a lot more patrons in the long run
Man these animations of yours keep getting better and better with each new video that you upload. Keep up the good work, hope you make more such videos on more interesting SCPs in the future.
Showed this to my friend that had trouble with sleep paralysis for over 5 years and when he saw the SCP his eyes ACTUALLY became anime sized. He ACTUALLY said, "I know these people are fake. But I hope I never see this monster again." Yikes. I made sure to give him a huge hug as an apology.
When some people tell you to repent from your old ways for being too full of yourselves this is why, those beings are those who didn't listened, a little contorted isn't it. Look at the good part, they are easy to be erased from existence in that form if we burn them with some good lights, smells and hot soups!
Wait. Me. Is it like a disorder??? I like. Close my eyes. 'dream' in which I'm in control and I'm just thinking. Then it just pops into the next morning. I don't rem sleep or anything. Also I sleep 4-8 hours on average
I've had sleep paralysis so many times before, I normally get it when I over sleep, it also happens when I go to sleep while stressed, before I use to see dark figures but afterwards that stop as I grew to a custom to it, other times is just me trying to wake up while trying to breath cause now my nose strats to close up and I slowly lose my air, one time i actually lost to my sleep paralysis, I woke up and was unable to move as normal, so I immediately realized I was in a sleep paralysis, so I tried to move my legs to get my heart pumping so I'll get a high enough blood flow to wake me up, but my nose was starting to clogged up and I tried and I tried and it wasn't working, next thing I know I'm a wake about 1hr after, turns out my nose clogged slowed my breathing and kncok me out, and I just went back to sleep, to me it was like I was going to die of suffocation, so I thought, gald that didn't happen 😂, I guess my nostrils slowly clogging is my brain trying to get me back to sleep, it's kinda odd that it happens like that, but one thing I still can't explain is the scars on my back, I woke up one time from a sleep paralysis and when I went out my mother asked me why my has those scratches, and I didn't know, the scratches are now black lines on my back, I don't know how that happened but I didn't remember the burning pain on my back as I fought to wake up from the sleep paralysis that day
Children, this is why i sleep with a blanket over my head with a sleep mask. I’m doing 2 sleep mask due to me watching this man for 2 hours, be like me children.
Wow, what an amazing anomaly. It really impresses me how well you tell these stories. Thank you Dr. Bob! Edit: Also, I think that one 3060 anomaly, the one in a Scp Lab Coat, was a faceless Dr. Bob. I may be wrong, but look at the anomaly compared to Bob...
Why is dr bob changing so many thumbnails to just cartoony styles with a man strapped to something, i want the thumbnails to be disturbing and unnerving!
