SCP-4205 is a Keter class anomaly also known as In The Eyes of the Beholder. SCP 4205 is a pair of amber colored eyes, appearing primarily within the translucent or semi-translucent pane of any window-like structure. In most cases, when an affected individual views SCP4205, brain death will occur quite swiftly. This has been observed in most cases with only one exception to date. An unusual aspect of the deceased victims is that usual postmortem brain activity ceases in a much more rapid manner than usually observed in a natural death.

One thing the video doesn't mention is that he also discovered a weakness of 4205. He mentioned that the only reflective surface he never saw the eyes in was the glass on his front door. When SCP teams investigated it, they found that the glass had lead in it. Upon adding lead to the glass of the SCP sites,, instances of 4205 activity dropped drastically. Even in death, he saved lives.

If you read more about the scp you find out that it only appears at site 19 and that it can't appear on lead based reflective surfaces which is why site 19 has lead based windows and lead based everything.

Hey hey, author of 4205 here. Got linked this by my friend. :D First off, this is great! I love the presentation. Gives me big Kurzgesagt vibes. I'm especially pleased that you explicitly outline how the entries were written to the database as that's something people tend to miss or misunderstand when reading the entry. I really only have one correction: It cannot show up in mirrors. As the final document says, it has to be a "medium [that serves] as a viewing window between two separate, enclosed spaces." A one-way mirror would count but a more "traditional" mirror with an enclosed back would not. You also show it appearing in a puddle of water which would not work either. I'd also say that it's perhaps important to mention the fact that Dalitz' experience did give them a single clue that 4205 does not appear in glass treated with lead. Either way, great job! Always love to see content about my work to further reassure me that my life has meaning :p

@@ricochetfan5241 (Sorry in advanced for how long-winded this is lol) You could technically argue that, I suppose, but most mirrors are coated with an opaque layer of silver which makes it impossible to look from the other side. One way mirrors work because, technically, you //can// see into the other space from the room with the mirror as it's not totally opaque. Like I mentioned in another comment, it is important to note that this is largely a theory put forth by The Foundation based on the evidence they currently have. There isn't any known instances of 4205 appearing within normal mirrors, computer monitors, or glasses. The only instances they are aware of and have evidence of are where it appears in glass that separates two enclosed spaces. COULD it possibly show up in mirrors or glasses? Probably. But there's no known evidence of it. As the author, I can at least say that I intended to be rather explicit in saying that it will //only// show up in those conditions but if you choose to believe otherwise, that's totally fine.

Two details that were missed in the video: -This anomaly only seem to appear in site-19 -In the entry, it is mentioned that 4205 is incapable of appearing in lead glass and every single reflective surface in site-19 has been replaced with lead glass

It's lead glass. It can be a specific type of glass that is made with lead (like what is used in old CRT monitors and most glass made prior to the 1980s) or glass coated with a film of lead.

I found out that the basilisk was originally depicted as the cockatrice instead of a giant snake in Medieval European folklore. But over time, the basilisk and the cockatrice became separate, but related, creatures in some fantasy stories today.

here's an idea for 682's termination, simply because the forced fails to terminate it are annoying by now, get 173 and 4205 to team up on it, one must be observed and the other must not be observed, and to make sure he doesn't blink when he last encountered 173 he made lots of eyes on his body, an easy target for 4205, or rather to avoid 4205 he'll remove his own eyes and die from 173

Here’s one advantage that the Foundation has in this case. According to one of the comments on this video, SCP-4205 only appears at Site-19, so all they need to do is get a piece of reflective glass that doesn’t have lead in it, expose SCP-682 to it while it’s at that site, then watch the magic happen.

It won't work. There will ALWAYS be a reason it doesn't work. The entire point of 682 is "the SCP Foundation can't kill it". It is only when an SCP utterly *beyond* the abilities of the Foundation shows up that there is ever a chance 682 might die--- Literally just to show how outclassed the Foundation is in that instance.

My theory is that Quale was SCP-4205. They couldn’t find Quale in the files, so perhaps Quale only existed in the mind of the victims right before death. Perhaps his longing for Theodore is simply a longing for his fear to end, a poetic symbolism for embracing his doom.

I doubt it. He probably wasn’t expecting it the first time. To me it seems instead that there was some sort of hiccup and instead of fast forwarding them through a horrible life to eat their brain’s electric impulses instead he just lived the life at normal pace. It’s hard to be sure.

But he died pretty much immediately? What happened to him happens to everyone afflicted by the eyes. The monster speeds up the processes in the mind, making it seem like days, possibly weeks for the person, but in reality, it's just seconds. That's when they die.

I've listened to this one so many times. ---Incoming Spoiler Material-- It essentially teaches a sobering lesson, according to some like the Exploring Series: Everyone is their own harshest critic. "The Eyes of The Beholder" does have all the quirks of an SCP, it exposes something that is in all of us: our self-doubt. Wade is like us newcomers, letting the pressure get too us and weigh us down to the point pur brains are put through the mental Wringer

Heyo! Author of 4205 here :] I'd just like to mention that this is more a theory than anything else. That's what it does with Dalitz but it's possible that it's just a consequence of the lingering self-doubt that Dalitz already had and less an intentional method of torture by the anomaly. Of course, it's absolutely up to interpretation so no theory is incorrect or anything! I just want to make sure people are aware that this isn't "canon" or anything.
