I didn't understand MLP the first time I heard about, I think I was a hater at first until I decided to watch it to make an animation to make fun of it buuuuuut I watched it and loved it, so I don't mind the brony's nor the people that don't like MLP but who the hell cares? I'm not OBSESSED with MLP: Friendship is Magic (I've missed a TON of the newer eps) But I did go through a period where I watched it when I could. I love the shi* out of Big Macintosh. And I HAVE seen the movie where they turn into humans and then its sequel. The last ep I saw was right when it left off on the arc where Twilight had become an Alicorn and a Princess and they'd JUST found that tree thing underground that needed - keys or something like that? Been a LONG time since I watched any, though. But even though I wouldn't exactly say I'm a Pegasister, I do DEFINITELY enjoy the series a LOT. And I think I can explain WHY some people like it so much? I'm sure other people, like me, are reminded of their childhood cartoons. Plus the art style is simplistic yet at the same time wonderful to look at, and MOST PEOPLE can recreate the art style too leading to a lot of people being able to draw fanart which frankly is a big deal to a surprising amount of people. Creating your own characters, things like that. Then there's the characters themselves who are wonderfully diverse and most people can relate to one or another. "Ohh I'm SO MUCH like Rainbow Dash!" or "Ahh, Fluttershy knows exactly how I feel about confrontation!" and because of just THIS factor, a ton of people can fall in love with the series simply because they identify with some of the characters so thoroughly. This is usually a huge selling point in a LOT of various series. Plus, there's the fact that the storyline is SO intricate and SO damn beautiful. And you end up having SO many feels for it, and because it's a kids show, you know it's probably mostly always going to end up a happy ending, so you adore it even more. It even pulls the classic DBZ "enemy-turned-friend" with Discord, 'cause DBZ did that like all the damn time (and then LOTS of Animes/Cartoons that followed) and it's a very popular theme that a lot of people adore. Another point is also the style in the way that, even though it's an American series, it's still REALLY GOOD which is RARE for American series trying to pull the anime-esque thing. Normally they can be super crappy and only last a short time but MLP pulls it off well. Then, another point is that some people legitimately grew up on MLP, the ORIGINAL MLP, and LOVE horses and ponies and because of THIS they really like the series, too. And there's just something to that whole "Cutie Mark" thing where you could make a character with YOUR quirks and you would work SO HARD to get YOUR OWN Cutie Mark - a sort of completion of trials to become an adult, to overcome adversity, that sort of thing, that a lot of people can get behind as well. There are so many legitimate FEELS in the series that draw so many people in, for an American series it has AMAZING plots and the creators definitely work very hard to make things work and make sense Frankly one of the things I love MOST about the series is how hard they work to ENSURE it's pony-related. That's the BEST part. LITTLE things like instead of saying "Everybody" they say "everypony" and instead of saying "hands" they say "hooves" and they work hard to get the dialogue right like that and to get various SITUATIONS to work like that and I love that they put so much effort into just THOSE little tiny details and I think a lot of other people love that too? For example, when the ponies laugh together for a while, the voice actors even make it kind of sound like whinnying and that is (other than terrifying) REALLY COOL. It just drives home how much they really are ponies. Plus there's the fact some people love animals so much more than humans - I can definitely probably say I'm one of those people - and just THAT can make you like the series more. I think people don't lead enough credence to the fact that, despite it being about ponies, the series is actually VERY good, VERY intricate, the plot WHILE BEING RATHER CLICHE (but what ISN'T in this day in age, ESPECIALLY when it comes to little kids shows???) is INCREDIBLE and THOROUGH, and the characters are (debatably, depending on who you ask) REALLY fleshed-out and created well - people will argue this factor simply because certain characters irk them more than others (most people seem to dislike Twilight for some reason?), but the reality is, compared to a LOT of shows out there - compared to a lot of SUPER-POPULAR shows out there, even - the characters are VERY well-built and fleshed out and I think that's probably one of its biggest selling points. People take for granted how HARD it is to flesh out AS MANY CHARACTERS as this show HAS in it. And again, people will argue whether certain characters are actually all that dynamic but I think they need to take a look at other characters in other popular shows and realize how dynamic they actually are in comparison. Each of them have beautiful and intricate backstories and their personalities ALL differ and no matter what ALL of them have their own interesting quirks and nuances and appeals whether you like them or not. I don't GET why so many people say Twilight is such a flat character, because she's really not. Maybe compared to some of the other characters, but there are real people who are EXACTLY her in every way - Amusingly, I probably dislike Rarity the most but that's mostly because I don't like people that are caught up on fashion and outward beauty - I can still easily identify that she has a REALLY dynamic personality, she also has a heart of gold too, and I STILL REALLY LIKE HER even though if I lined up the characters from 1st to last based on which ones I liked the most, Rarity would be last - I love ALL of the characters, its just her I happen to like the least even though, again, I recognize that she's actually a REALLY incredible character and she very accurately represents people who are like her, even. Being able to push past compulsions of yours - Rarity's dislike of mud and GETTING muddy but she'll push past it for her friends because they're SUPER important to her - is a really big deal, and I can recognize that, because I know how hard it is for ME to push past my various compulsions. Really, in the end, MOST people see a little bit of themselves in EVERY character and I think that's another huge selling point of the series. I'm sure no one read this obscenely long post, but if you did, I hope it gave you an idea of why people identify themselves as "Bronies" or "Pegasisters" - the same way you may be obsessed about.. Oh, I don't know.... YuGiOh!, or iCarly, or Dragon Ball Z, or Halo, or Mass Effect, or CSI, or Amnesia: The Dark Descent, or SCP: Containment Breach ITSELF, or Call of Duty, or even, I don't know, Whose Line is it Anyway? is the same way Bronies and Pegasisters are obsessed with MLP, and you shouldn't judge them for that, because YOUR obsession is just as weird to them as their obsession is to you. And, yes, granted, some people get obsessed with it to the point where they like it in a sexual way, but not ALL Bronies and Pegasisters are of that opinion, to be fair. And who are you to judge? Some people also have fetishes involving furry costumes or being vomited on or being chained and whipped or being physically tortured or being choked or being raped or hentai or yaoi or yuri or ONLY Anime/Manga. It's the same thing as ANYTHING else. It's the same thing as being into just straight traditional and nothing else. Everyone has their own preferences, everyone has their own thing that they like, that WORKS for them because for some people what's classified as "normal" doesn't work for them, and there's 100% no reason to judge someone else simply because they can't get off the same way you do. It's how their brains are wired. It's something they can't avoid. It's something YOU can't avoid. So just let them be. They're not gonna INFECT YOU or YOUR CHILDREN into being like them, so it makes quite literally no difference to you whatsoever. And I don't get why anyone would think otherwise. If your kids end up like that too, it has nothing to do with "being infected" its simply because that's how they are, that's how they're wired, and that's not to say there's something wrong with YOUR GENES, either, it just HAPPENS, just like homosexuality, and it's not fair to judge people based on how they are wired because it's something they can't change - all they can do is suppress it, and that's not fair to demand of a person. The only time something like a fetish should become unacceptable is when they're harming another person in pursuit of their fetish. Unless that person *wants* to be harmed. Because, when it comes to THAT, then you ARE bothering another person, and that's UNFAIR. If you're wired like that, then fine, but find a WILLING PARTICIPANT, because TRUST ME. THEY EXIST. There are people with all SORTS of likes and dislikes that are outside the "norm," and if you're one of those people that likes to hurt others, there's someone out there who likes to BE hurt. This is me reaction to EVERY SINGLE TIME that I watch ANYTHING on a screen that has more than FIFTY PERCENT colour value.

Mark... I used to hate MLP...I had Brony friends, and I hated when they went all brony mode on me...I literally couldn't take it...And one day one of my friends used my weakness against me...A challenge. "I dare you, to sit your ass down, and watch nothing but the VERY FIRST MLP episode...Just the first...Sit through it, and if you can come back here and say you TRULY didn't like it? I'll accept and never bring it up again." Well, I accepted...And watched Episode 1...I am now a brony. So, in honor of my brony friend who initially gave me this challenge... I dare you, to watch the first MLP:FIS episode.

Anybody watching this in 2016?
