March 24, 1989 was the day NBC cancelled Sale of the Century and Super Password. Scrabble had exactly one year to go.

Fortunately for Issac Mayo, Laura Saroyan, Susan Rockett, and others who did work on Sale of the Century, they still were employed on Scrabble's payroll for now.
