In this video Claire continues to use up her small scraps, this time she is using a fabric collage technique and free motion embroidery. For the latest information on the Textiles East Fair go to: textileseastfair.wordpress.com/
Thank you so much Claire for this tutorial. I very much appreciate your calm 'in the moment' demonstration, background information, handy hints and problem solving. I live in Florida and am always picking up batik fabrics via thrift store clothing - this is a fabulous project to utilize those teeny-tiny scraps and come out with a pleasing end product:)
Totally its good to see it in real time and not the super fast videos im used to watching on here. The relaity is that these things take time and sometimes i look at a video where its all speeded up and then berate myself for taking so long! And i like that every step was shown. Not heres one i made earlier@ ❤
Your feathers are lovely. I must try this. I had the bobbin problem with my Janome, the service man had me buy an extra bobbin case, one for regular sewing and the other for thread painting.
Thank you for your comment, it is very much appreciated. I too have another bobbin case. Though this time my machine was well over due its service. It is a common problem that is good to share, as many are not aware why their machine produces poor quality stitches.
Thank you for your lovely comment Julie. Mistakes are an important part of learning, if it helps others to know it is ok to jam a machine then learners are more relaxed about trying something new. Happy stitching.🧵
Loved yr stuff and its so helpful to see what you did and change-I learned so much with you with scraps and how to change and glue(?) - and changing your bobbin-another problems- very helpful! And pretty- the difference is helpful too! I love the thread and how it changes its color too- Thank you! I’m going to watch you again and more!yes!
Thank you for your informative video. It encouraged me to try to use these techniques. I had the same problem with tension. I’d love to know more about dealing with these problems. Feathers are a beautiful object to explore.
It is great to hear that you might have a go. I did resolve the tension by fully cleaning and resetting the machine when my frustration had past. I have found readjusting the bobbin is best done and checked when normal sewing. Happy stitching.
very helpful to see how you worked through the stitch issues as I have had some challenges with rayon embroidery thread. now I know to match the bobbin thread and use a better needle.
Your comment is very much appreciated. I like to keep issues in so others can learn from my challenges. Knowing it has helped, makes my choice of not over editing worth while (especially as I have been critized for leaving it in). Happy stitching.🧵
Gorgeous nice to see a scrao project that isnt just slapping random scraps onto backing. Acrually making something beautiful in the end and representational and with some artistry to the colours. Gorgeous.
@@TextilesEastFair i see its also badly written ...i really need new glasses and keep putting off getting them! I am looking at bags of scraps and wondering what i will do with it all!
Omg, even in quilt world im still just drawing stick figues...that's gorgeous! Thanks for the video, I can't draw a feather, holy macaroni i sooo cool, plus i have a piece of tie dyed duck canvas the same color and forgot to use it, so glad the video popped up.
Thank you for your lovely comment. Do not worry about not being able to draw. Try printing off a line drawing from internet and use as a template. Happy stitching.🧵🪡
Hi Claire, your process is creative with such pretty results. I'm getting back to my sewing after 20 years and love reuse of items. Your video inspired me and has given me good ideas! Thank you from Winnipeg Canada
Thank you so much Claire, I am really really impressed with you work. As soon as I saw the feather you’d created before, I subscribed and gave you a thumb’s up too. Absolutely stunning and gorgeous and I really really love ❤️ the end result’s. And I really really appreciate how you teach too. I’m going to share this too. Please stay safe and well too
Deine Kommentare sind immer sehr schön. Ich bin so froh, dass Sie mir folgen können, ich wünschte nur, mein gesprochenes Deutsch wäre gut genug, um es zu teilen. Besten Wünsche.
Hi Marlene, Thank you for your lovely comment I am so glad it was helpful. Even though I have been critised for leaving in the tension difficulties I did leave them in specifically for learners such as yourself. It a common problem which can put off people when they start. Happy crafting.
Nice idea, didn't need all the machine issues, best to sort that beforehand. Try getting some pre-wound embroidery bobbins. The thread will be closer to the weight of the rayon...
I had not thought of selling it, as it is a demo piece that has not had any more work done to it. But if you are in the UK it could be posted to you for a small fee.
Hi Becky thanks for your comment. Lucky for us, if you feel you can not draw then computers are great for finding images and printing off to trace our own version. Happy crafting.
