Scrap Fabric Postcards

@@MariesScrappyCreations I promised myself I would finish my granddaughter's quilt before I started any other projects. I am almost 1/4 the way quilting the border then it's just trim and bind. I can only work on it in the evenings because I keep her during the day while Mama works. I should finish this week, then I will get to try some of your projects.

Happy Mother’s Day to you, too! I’m glad they helped you with ideas. I love making them for the holidays because it’s a gift and a card all together for holidays such as Easter, St. Patrick’s Day and Valentine’s Day. There are so many occasions where they can be a gift as well as a card.

Hi Laurie! Yes with some of them, due to embellishments, they should go in padded envelopes and depending on what you have on there, be weighed at the desk or at home with a scale. You could also possibly wrap some tissue paper around them if it were a delicate embellishment. But yeah, I love to use heat and bond on my little scraps that have a face or something cute on the fabric and then I fussy cut them to go onto the postcards. It works really well with the Valentine cards as well as St. Patrick’s Day cards. I don’t have pictures of those, unfortunately. It’s difficult for me to say how long it takes start to finish because I never make just one at a time. But I will say that once you have everything laid out, they work up very quickly if you do them assembly line style. I hope you have a wonderful day and a very happy Mother’s Day, too! Oh Honor, I didn't know you hadn't seen the fabric postcard tutorial. :-) This is one of my favorite things to sew. I take way more time than I should at it, since I will sit and try to match all my pieces and find cute-sy little things to go on each one. But that's why my postcards are a bit different than most of the other ones that people sew. I'm not saying that's special or good, just different. Hi Sharon! Some I write on, some I don't. It depends on whether I think this person would like to send it to someone else. I have sent it to people who I know would probably like to share it and send it out. so those ones I leave blank and I write on a piece of paper inside the envelope.

That mark on the cardstock looks like it is coming from your feed dog.

Thank you! I thought it turned out ok. As for my hair, I just got a trim and although it’s a little short, I guess it will just be longer before I need a haircut, right? As far as the spray adhesive like you use for your quilt backs, I’m not sure that would work because I think that’s only temporary. And I know that if I spray it on fabric after a few days it’s not sticky anymore.

@@MariesScrappyCreations I was thinking temporary in terms of holding long enough to sew down, but on thinking about that, the rest of the material would lift, so yeah, strong fabric glue it is 😀

Hi Tracy Ruth! I probably didn’t explain that part very well. I left links in the description box to both the mailers and the labels. There is a label that I stick on the outside of that clear mailer so that I can write the address on and it can be stamped with the postmark. Everything I sent to everyone went through just fine, whether it was here in the state of Maine, or across the country, so I assume that I did it correctly. I’m sorry to hear that your husband was I’ll and hope he’s feeling better very soon!! I have a chronic condition and some days get pretty rough. It’s a matter of me filming ahead, so I have some content to fall back on when I don’t feel well. Take care!

The labels are liked in the description box below the video. Usually on the right side, just under, you'll see a little pull down arrow and there's a box with all the details. If you can't find it, just let me know and I'll help you.

I saw the strips of fabric onto cotton batting. Then, when I have it cut down to the size.l I want it, I glue it onto card stock. Actually, I have been using comic book board lately instead of cardstock.

Yes, I mail them all the time. If you click down in the description box below the video, there are links to the type of clear envelope I buy, as well as labels that I fill out the address and stick them onto the clear envelopes. Of course, you could always use a regular envelope, too.
