Built entirely from scrap balsa this little 'Scraps' model stretched my skill level to the limit but it was well worth it. Flying starts at 22:05, cheers. Plans and info here: www.indoorfree...
I save all my scraps as well! My fav part is the prop, super nice job on this little build. I finally secured the property for RC Taildraggins new flying site, hopefully within 12 months it will be ready for first flight! Cheers Cliff!
Hi Jerry, the prop is really crude compared to some of the amazing prop techniques I've seen on RU-vid. I saw the aerial view on your FB page, I think it's just about big enough although it looks like it needs a fair amount of brush clearing 🤔👍
What a fun build Cliff. Interesting way to make the wing ribs.. So, fragile.. My clumsy hands would've busted it in seconds... Really enjoyed this.. - Will
Nice video once again, Cliff :-) And relaxing. Not interested in freeflight, rubber-power or ultra light - BUT, still learned something new. Fun! Good entertainment. Love your build videos ❤ I like how you keep "the back in the old days"-ways alive. Will eventually use some of the stuff I learned from your videos for a balsa build. Eventually 😄
Glad you enjoyed it Raymond, those of us who were brought up through all the different genres can't help but mix and match modern stuff with more traditional techniques 🤔👍
Enjoyed watching. Something different. You know those chucka gliders you used to get as a child, I could never successfully make them Fly, now these a challenge for a quick video.
Thoroughly enjoyed that Cliff! Man it flew great. Now you need to do an epic slow indoor plane. Something with a bigger wingspan and a covered prop. I knew you could do it...😁
Thanks Adam, I think the bigger models are proably easier to build, at least I hope so! I'll put one together hopefully this year, they are fascinating aren't they?, cheers.
Great fun. I like that! You can never have too many scraps! I may have missed it, though I skipped through a bit, did you make the prop? Ok, found it. Only 5 secs with no audio.
Who'd have thought there are always two aeroplanes in a box. The main part of the prop building wasn't filmed due to a finger error in pressing the record button!! Cheers.
Thanks Chris, I must admit it pushed me to my limits, makes your Antoinette look like a big lumbering crate (in the nicest possible way of course!), cheers.
Enjoyed that Cliff, look forward to seeing it rafter bound. I have built a couple of Hanger Rats in the past which are a touch bigger, they go really well.
Ah yes double glue with small sticks or really any end grain gluing - 50% diluted PVA for first application, full strength for second. I think you got your fun's worth out of that build.
Great tip John for diluted glue for the first application thanks, it was fun and quick, one day out of the big build schedule helps to keep one grounded (or airborne!), cheers
Hi Adam, trimming a model is an art in itself, take a look at this page and follow the steps and you'll learn a lot, also try and find some long grass, it'll save a lot of damage freeflight.org/Library/TechLibrary/TrimmingRubberModels.pdf 🙂
I keep all my scraps which have come in handy. That will be great to fly indoors when you go back. Free Flight Flew might be hard to shake 😁😁😂😂🤣🤣😊😊 Jeff in LA USA
Hi Jeff, I do enjoy all the different challenges our hobby throws up, it's not until you try and put together one of these small models you realise just how much skill (which I haven't really got lol) goes into them! Cheers
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes The micro planes have always seemed like the most challenging to build but must provide the most joy and satisfaction to fly. Obtaining Skill is a never ending process.
Really impressive! I think I clocked you over 10 seconds on the last flight. That is about my absolute record with the Hangar Rat. A nice project and a successful maiden!
Thanks Andrew, it was a fun day-project, it's going to look lost at Winnard's Perch indoor session next. I'm building another quickie before then as well, I think you'll approve 🤔😁👍
Love it! thank you for posting your build. This is my next build. Question, for the covering are you using any type of plastic covering or is it possible to use a plastic grocery bag? Thank you in advance. Greg 🤙
Hi Greg, if you mean the standard grocery bag, well yes, but if you go for the really very light bags usually found in the fruit aisle these are much lighter. On the other hand if you can get a disposable apron they're credibly light plastic as well and come in several colors 👍
Hi, both have their uses but I think they're for most of this one I used white glue watered down for the first application on end grain, let it dry and then full strength white glue 👍
