Scrap metal yard trip for lead acid batteries & scrap steel.
Good scrap price paid for the batteries @ 48c kg.
Join in on the fun and win some cool jewelry by entering my competition.
Simply guess how much (by weight) batteries I dropped off in KG or LB
and the first person to guess correctly will win, or the closest to the exact amount if no-one guesses correctly.
Winner has the choice of the two bracelets or the one wheat style bracelet.
I'll probably select a 2nd winner who gets close enough as well.

Good luck taking them out of the van with the forklift. Good idea but not sure if it's worth the potential vehicle damage. I've always wanted to make a special crate for shred so I don't have to lift it twice lol.

I'm not new to scrapping, but e-waste is an area that I've not really done, but want to do. I'm drawing quite a bit of inspiration from you and a couple other channels, so Thank You.

My guess would be 666 Kilo's (the batteries of the beast!) With Aussie conversion, that'll be 16 Roo's, 26 Wombats, 66 Koalas or 95 Echidna's... Hope this helps ;-) I've only ever seen battery bins at UK scrappies, never had to deal with a bloody pallet... That sucks!

If you think for two seconds there are many ways to get the pallet out of the van. One way is customize a ramp, put plywood on sides or have a wooden crate to enclose batteries, Rachet strap ‘em tight & then have a winch pull ‘em down. Taking 30-45 minutes to devise a plan is worth a hell of a lot more than the 1-2 hrs it took him to unload at the scrap yard & touching all the batteries twice. Especially if you would do this once every few months. Seems been works a lot harder than he has too. Still good on him for recycling them, and work he does.

When it comes to battery's would you not be better off and save your back by getting a pallet and loading them on a pallet in your van that way they can just lift it out rather than you handballing them in the van and out again

Ah OK the scrappy I use in the uk just nocks off 15kg if you drop stuff loaded on a pallet regardless of if the pallets wet or dry granted I've used the same ones for 10+ years and I ment keep a pallet to one side in the drive or your ally way and as and when you want to get rid of your batteries put the pallet in the van first then load your batteries onto that would have saved you from manually unloading but if you can't find one to fit scratch that idea
