Since I did this machine and video I recently took the Richard King Scraping class at Bourn & Koch in Rockford. I learned many things in the class and Richard told me a lot of what I was doing wrong. This machine still makes good parts 2x shifts per day 5 days a week. No many people attempt to take on scraping a 50' long machine base by themselves too often.
thank you, there was so much wrong with this video, but that is why I liked it, and that's just from my point of view, I'm sure someone who knows what they are doing would love this training video on what no to do, it's how to use the scraper, so in a way the use of the tool was done very well, minor flaws overlooked, all in all, it was a fair representation of the capabilities of the biax scraper. good video.

If your Mattison is like the one we had the ways and the table should never contact in operation. The hydraulic or lube pump is pumping way oil under pressure and actually floating the table on the oil
To make things flat .file can make things flat but to get it even flatter scraping is used with a surface plate to get things really flat and creat equal high low spots for oil retention and reducing surface contact .Machine or Machine tool beimg scraped can last very long if you take good care of it
