steven schaub I've always wanted a van. An early 70s Econoline to be exact; always had a thing for them. Unfortunately, you'd be labled as a pedo if you owned one. Some people I know obviously are joking, though others actually threaten not to speak to me again if I had one. :(

I had the Chevy G20 awhile back. Now it really did look like a pedo van. But it was great lol

-ThreePointSlow- I never thought of an Econoline as a machine for crimes against small humans. I've never had any issues with the '69 - '74 Econoline, but I've always preferred the '70 - '78 Dodge Sportsman, or Tradesman, for personal use. If I were to haul freight, I'd probably choose the Ford.

If Marvel's Mystery Oil doesn't work, try some PB Blaster. About 15 years ago, I used PB Blaster on a 1988 Ford Tempo that I paid $100 for. The rings were seized to the cylinder walls. After about eight hours of spraying and soaking, the engine freed up and ran perfect.

Engine is most likely hydro-locked. The best thing I can think of to do is to remove all the plugs, then see if it will turn over and push out all the water. Adding some lubricant in case of ring rust into the cylinders is definitely a good idea as well. This van is too nice to let a seized engine ruin it's day! I say it's a keeper! BTW, nice black Camaro at the end of this video! My best friend has one this same year model, black. It's his baby!

*AW MAN TTHAT WATER DIDN'T GET THAT HIGH hose that sucker off and use it! that thing aint hurt. take the plugs out and spray some PB BLASTER in the cylinders let it sit as couple days and away you go. that thing isn't even broken in good yet* P.S.I HATE FORD WITH A PASSION but that one would be a HUGE waste to just let it get junked

I would see if the starter is not seized up. Check the oil and see if water got in. Also check trans and diff fluids as well. I don't think it's hurt. It's a ford so they are built tough

I was a Ford man for years, my first vehicle was a 1969 Clubwagon van that sat in weeds for 11 years, I filed the points and put some gas in the carb, fired right up. Then I owned a Dodge, worked on lots of different cars, they're all the same. I'd rather have an older car that I didn't need a computer to fix though.

Hopefully the electrical systems have not been compromised. Seems like this van would be a good runner as long as there are no electrical gremlins lurking.

That's a sweet van and crazy low mileage for its age. Hoping that you could give it a few more years at least after you get the engine going. Looking forward to the black Camaro video.
@MrRobert5
@MrRobert5 6 лет назад
I would suggest that before condemning the engine, pull the starter motor & check to see that it has not seized up. it most likely has since it is not impervious to water damage. being that the engine has low mileage, the gaskets & oil seals would prevent water from entering the engine, as long as the water level did not go as high as the air intake. also check all the electrical connections to the transmission. The ECM should be OK if it wasn't submerged during the initial flooding. does your state allow you to legally register a vehicle that has been deemed a total loss?

Amazing that they put a V10 in this, I know they had 351 CID V8s in the older ones that were heavier. Heard bad stories about people getting great deals on flood-cars, wish you the best, looks great!

The trans and axle most likely have water in them too. Sturgis Mi is on the Michigan, Indiana state line in south west Michigan. It is near the RV capitol of Elkhart, Indiana.

Old Car Alley There are a lot of conversion places between Sturgis and Elkhart ,where you can order all kinds of modification's , handicapped, etc , I grew up 20mi from Sturgis, If it was me ,I'd put a 7.3 in it and it'll go 300,000 more mi.

46,000+ miles......and probably 1 or 2 oil changes/services in its entire life.....very common for Church/Government vehicles to receive virtually no regular upkeep.
@jasonwatson9344
@jasonwatson9344 6 лет назад
D McNamara, if it was a government van, it would have regular maintenance
@dmcnamara9859
@dmcnamara9859 6 лет назад
The only type of Government vehicle that would have (be considered) regular maintenance would be Law-Enforcement in some Jurisdictions where Budgets are so tight,they have no other choice to or be walking. Pick N Pulls are littered with Late-Model Government vehicles....yes even the ones that were granted a "stay" by going to Public/Private auction and then have a short time in Civilian Life before going to the Junkyard......exception being Police Cruisers,etc. which usually have a second life as taxi-cabs. But even that has narrowed as most Fleets (like cab companies) now just buy Direct from Toyota,Koreans,etc. What cab company is going to want a Government retirement jalopy (Mitsubishi-Volvo Platformed) such as a Ford Fusion? Not many. And buying a "Church or Not for Profit" vehicle...is sure stupidity......why maintain a vehicle...when their answer is usually "Just Pray" that the trip is uneventful, or beg the Public/Private entity to buy them something New or that works for the time being. College near where I live...treats their very expensive Sprinters, Transits,Service Vehicles,Snow Plows,etc with no care at all......Why should they, when the long term object is too demand for more money and "New" this and that.
@gosportjamie
@gosportjamie 6 лет назад
That's a damn shame, with 47,000 miles on it it should be barely run in. I guess a lot of it is going to come down to the title on it, some flood vehicles get stuck with destruction titles even if they haven't been hurt at all by the water. Obviously this one was flooded a bit deeper if it's got into the engine but it's got to be worth a shot at getting it running even if it is a destruction title, I would imagine a running Triton V10 is worth a decent wedge of dollars. Hopefully it can be saved and go back to work for someone as it looks like a clean old van/bus...
@johnnydeville5701
@johnnydeville5701 6 лет назад
Definitely worth saving. Shame seeing such a nice van in a junkyard. Low mileage tight engine is probably why it stuck. Definitely worth a shot at getting her back on the road. That Camaro would a great drag car platform or put it on that rollover Silverado chassis!

That is a decent looking Ford E-Series. I currently have two of those Ford E-Series. 2000 E150 Cargo Van with the little 4.2L V6 and 1998 E-Super Duty (early E450) cutaway with the 6.8L V10. I'm hoping to find a deal in my area on a '97 or newer E-Series passenger van with a good complete body and interior to use for the parts needed to turn my E450 into a crew cab cutaway as well as for some interior parts for my E150.

Our Church has an E450 bus with this engine in it and it's been absolutely horrible. Was purchased brand new, then blew a plug around the mileage of this one, put a helicoil in then it blew another one so bad that the engine had to be torn down, cost to replace the engine was less than repairing the old one. Now the next new engine has had one loose plug already and numerous other issues. We're soon getting rid of it.

Your Comment has been reviewed and certified as "Good" and/or "Approved" -Most use vans for nefarious reasons. Typically people are (not of mental caliper) and cannot get a licence to own a multiple passenger van however, your reason for ownership is just. We will pass our findings on to the proper office. Good day. Review No. 7843gw0

Absolute Madness would this comment be approved? I'd want this van to get an exhaust on there to bring out that V10 rumble (after it gets running of course) and also strip out the interior so I could sleep in it, while also having a vehicle that can tow heavy trailers loaded down with 2 cars

Justin Noker, custom exhaust on a V10? LMAO, V10's sound like shit revved up. I worked at a Ford dealership in the shop and on new car inspections and I got my share of V10's. F250's also had the option of a V10. Good power, but sounds like ass.

@andrewbartleman9169
@andrewbartleman9169 6 лет назад
justsomeguytoyou I think the starter seized , it happens from sitting . A flood would greatly excel this process. Ford is known for using mini starters in tight locations like this and they font last very long as it is .
@justsumguy2u
@justsumguy2u 6 лет назад
That's a possibility....starters don't like being soaked in water
