These are wonderful... I think 'Her Eyes Gleamed By The Light Of The Moon' and 'The Best Is Yet To Come' are my favorites, but I truly really like them all. What a fun thing to do with scraps and rolodex cards (now I just have to find the rolodex itself). Thank you so much for sharing, and please stay safe. Happy 4th of July Weekend; Prayers going up for our Country and our entire World. :)
This reminds me of the idea I had to remember my Mother. When she died, I took pictures of several of her clothes and shoes that she wore a lot and reminded me of her. I plan to use them in a scrapbook about her. I also took close ups of the material of her clothes and plan to use pieces of those photos throughout the book as you are using these pieces from magazines here.
I love to cut out bedspreads, quilts, rugs, and lacy curtains out of catalogs for use in collage and mixed media backgrounds....they make for interesting effects
Thank you for the ideas - I'm making my sister a perpetual calendar with altered rolodex cards for Christmas. Have all her kids/grands/sisters birthdays marked - she's had a stroke and has trouble remembering so hopefully she and her husband will be happy to 'see' the next page! The monthly pages (the ABC pages) will have the birthdays listed as well. Time to order gifts or send cards. It's so much fun - this is my second altered rolodex! A third in the works for my other sister!
Thank you for the inspiration. My husband brought me a Rolodex and I've been wanting to use it for quotes and bible verses but I thought the cards are too little. You gave me good ideas to start creating❣️ Thank you for sharing your adorable cards 😍
How did you glue the tissue paper down or what's the best way to glue it? I want to use my tissue paper in my collage. I'm new at collaging, started about 4 days ago. 😊
Hi Trish - I often use a white glue and water mixture (approx 3 parts glue, 1 part water) for collage. You can also use a sealer like Mod Podge Matte, but the glue/water works great and is much cheaper. If you don’t plan to use your mixture all at one time, it’s best to use distilled water rather than tap water, as tap water has bacteria that will cause your mixture to mold if it sits in the container too long. Grocery stores usually sell distilled water in gallon jugs. Happy creating! 😊
Thank you, Maria! You can definitely make your own book of colors! To make it the size mine is, cut 7 sheets of printer paper (you can use something a bit heavier, but not too thick) to 8x4 inches and then fold them in half, to make 4x4 pages. The pages will sturdy up as you glue stuff on them. I made my cover from a piece of canvas, but you can do yours in any way you’d like. 😊
I bought my daughter Cat's Book of Colors kit for her birthday for us to do together. I plan on using a blank address book most likely from the dollar tree I found in my mother's papers she bought and never used. It has a clear vinyl cover the book slides out of. It isn't exact size as the one Cat uses or had in her kit but it will work. I didn't want my book to be same as my daughter's and this one fit the bill. I am just going to paint and/ or collage over the book's front cardstock cover and the clear vinyl will protect it.
