Our chums at Tanygroes Car Dismantlers recently collected this poor Morris Minor, last used on the road in 2013. But will it start? The fuel line is disconnected, the battery is missing and you can see the ground through the floor, but we give it a go anyway! Buy this car or view many spares at www.tcdsalvage...
Delightful HubNut goodies can be purchased at hubnut.org or at our Hoodie store: hubnut-store.c... - this second store is where you can find "Because French" merch and much more.

there`s more chance of the minor starting after 9 yrs, than the scrap range rover beside it after a week..

As a retired mechanic who had 4 years working on the good old moggies, I can confirm you are 100% correct, plus if it ever broke down at the side of the road, a few minutes under the bonnet and off you went again, try that on a modern car with 40 computers hidden everywhere! Where did it all go wrong?

Compared to the £495 I paid for my first car , a green Morris 1000 2 door ( URX 202G ) ( ask me the reg of my current car and I wouldn’t have a clue ! ) in 1972 it’s a lot . But remembering the real junk cars sold for £1200 or so at the 2021 Beaulieu Autojumble auction £1500 is not an unreasonable asking price in my view .

What a very unexpected video, with an equally unexpected result. Big shout out to "Tanygroes Car Dismantlers" for letting you loose on a truly wonderful classic, I feel a sale may be coming their way. The old girl would make an ideal spares car and her engine sounds eager to be burning up the miles again. Many, many salvageable parts on offer too such as glass, trims, interior, hardware, wheels and hubcaps. Very enjoyable.

Ah, yes - the ubiquitous A-series! What a great little engine that is. I've had really nackered ones that still start and run on the first turn of the key. One wreck of an 1100 I had, the engine was rooted. Big-end noise, main bearing noise, oil-pressure dropped through the floor, made squeaking noises when above idle(spun bearing I think), but it still started up fine and served enough to be able to drive the car under its own power for the purposes of moving it around the yard DESPITE all those horrible and very unhealthy noises from within!

sorry £1500! I was thinking half that for what is a complete restoration, those who are saying it wont take much - look at it. Once you start digging that is one expensive project. You'll need deep pockets and plenty of time but that asking price needs to come down!

@anthonystevens8683
@anthonystevens8683 2 года назад
@@promerops I have to agree, I had A series engines in my old Minis but the transverse mounting could drench the distributor (placed just behind the grill) so a first start after lots of rain was let's say a tad more of a challenge. The minor with the engine inline would not have seen this sort of drenching. I never had a Minor but like the 2CV I would love one.

£1500 is alot of money for a moggie needing so much work, £500 and it would stand more of a chance of being saved and allow more to be spent on a comprehensive restoration, which the car deserves.After all ferrous scrap is making approx £100/ton last time I weighed anything in.Nice being a 4 door and stainless window frames.
