Thanks to an idea from a guy who comments on the channel regularly I make a scratch built canopy for a trainspotting scene which over looks the mail depot from the main platform. Ideas taken from Crewe station.
Great looking canopy , nicely done just how I remember them at so many stations, the spotters remind me of my spotting days at Doncaster 70s we used to sit on the Brutes or Royal Mail trollies .
Great looking figures which all add to the atmosphere, love the track level shots especially at night. I fully understand your issues with waiting for certain items, I waited 2 months for an order only to be told the delay was because they were busy attending exhibitions and yet another supplier managed to take my order and two days later arrived in the morning post. Many thanks for sharing this video it was a delight to watch take care regards Barry.👍
Great scene Graham and a great tribute to the army of trainspotters across the country back in the day before computers took control of our lives 🤣 nice one mate ! Cheers Darrell
Cheers, Darrell, it was meant to be a tribute in some way. Wish I'd done more of it myself 😔 but I'm enjoying trying to bring back the feeling even though it's just in model form. Atb Graham 🙂
@@WHP1980s certainly brings back great memories of standing or sitting on anything available at the end of platforms watching trains all day for just a 4p platform ticket 🤣
Tacky wax is what i`ve used to stick figures you still want to move round. Good use of the old Hornby stanchions, I got a few of the old metal ones for the same thing.
Hard to show weathering on camera, it often looks less than it really is. 😕 Looks pretty grotty in real life, but will bear it mind. Thanks for watching atb Graham 👍 😊
I like adding figures to populate my railway. I use magnifying glass to help while painting them. Amazon eSynic Rechargeable Head Magnifying Glass with LED Light 1.5-13X Headband Magnifier
Wow oh wow. Thank you for the name check Graham. Talk about honoured. The Dad n the lad, an ode to all trainspotters, who started that way. The scene looks excellent, when you said you were waiting ages for the lad to join his Dad. It made me giggle, My Dad used to always go mad with me, for going down the platform, or over the bridge to the other platforms or nip to WH Smiths and take a dogs age to come back anyway 😂. Absolutely brilliant Graham. Thank you for sharing.👏👏👏
Thanks Mickey, was hoping I could do your experiences justice. A pleasure to try and bring your life's experiences to life. Many thanks for the idea and sharing your life with us all. Atvb Graham 👍 😊
@@WHP1980s I only tried to help. I hope more than me, i hope it takes many back to them days. I remember rolling a few brutes around to place em nearer the platform ends. Sometimes the staff would come up and say, sorry folks, we need em today and trundle off with them, we'd be gutted.😂
Graham I would of painted the hornby stanchionws, as Network south east painted everything. If youd of stood still long enough, they'd of painted you. Also the scratch built canopy is spot, I'm glad you put the sides on. Is your platform accessible for vehicles to drive on, I was thinking back to the days when they would load vehicles on the platform with news papers & mail. Thanks for the mention of the 3DPrinting firm, & 10 out of 10 well done. back
"If you'd stood still long enough, they'd painted you." 🤣😂👍 Maybe I will in the future as you are right, just like them in green. There is access to the mail depot through a warehouse next to the station. I actually put a pile of newspapers on a pallet under the depot canopy. Many thanks for watching atb Graham 👍 🙂
Been following the progress of the scene and I’m looking at doing something similar a quick question where did you get all the Royal Mail signage for the building s?
Made the Royal Mail signage myself from pic's, printed and cut out, backed with double sided tape and stuck on to stiff card. Good luck with your project atb Graham 🙂
