Scratch Cooking for Kids, Carnivore for Me! [Pantry Challenge Week 3]

This week was full of Scratch Cooking for Kids, and Carnivore for Me! We managed to put our new Green Pan waffle maker through the paces, as we had waffles, and chaffles to get the week started.
This week's recipes include Thai chicken noodle soup, Quick Pho, challah bread, a sourdough starter from day 1, sourdough flatbread, plus many tips on kitchen management and how to involve the kids in a busy kitchen.

WOW - what an idea - we have never preserved summer corn the way you do but we certainly will be doing that when corn is in season this year.

I dehydrate and freeze dry tons of diced green onions and fill many used kombucha bottles with them. Then I just sprinkle them on some many things all winter. They rehydrate with very little liquid. So as long as whatever you’re putting it on has any moisture, you’re golden.

This is a great idea! I’ll have to dehydrate some this year. I haven’t bitten the bullet for a freeze dryer yet, but I’m definitely eyeing one! Thanks for watching!

Love it your son is gonna be a great cook when he’s all grown…👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I have three sons they’re grown now and married but I taught all of them how to cook because I really didn’t want them not to know in case so they’re really good cooks. Their wives are great cooks as well so I’m pretty sure they take turns or they may cook together .

That’s the goal! I haven’t requested help from any of them because I wanted to see who’s more naturally drawn to the kitchen. He’s definitely among that group already. The rest are all pretty young still, so we shall see how it turns out! Thanks for watching!

I set up a store this morning and will update as soon as they approve my list. I added the one I have, plus 2 smaller options by the same company. I spent over a month trying to find one that was "clean" enough for me to feel comfortable using at home, and this was it!

Our daughter is doing carnivore, but I'm one that likes to add other foods to my diet. So many ways to eat healthy, so many choices 🙂

Everything looked delicious and I’m amazed at what you are able to accomplish every day. You are a wonderful mother raising great kids. That’s a cool trick with the corn on the cob. I’m trying that next year. I love your new waffle iron.

You are super sweet for saying such things! Today we have printed out next school unit and I have gathered supplies for some science experiments. I loved the meals you cooked this week, they were simple and looked amazing! I am curious about your mixer, that you put your bread into. What kind of mixer is it? I can't say I've seen one like it before but I am fascinated!

It’s an Ankarsrum. Americas Test Kitchen recently ranked it above KA! They are workhorses, and I can do at least 4 large pizza crusts as a time, plus always feel the dough as it works. There is a separate bowl and whisk set that comes with, plus a dough hook. That said, the roller is made to mimic kneading, so I’ve stayed with it, and love the outcome. Carnivore for you but no one else? Kids are perfect age to start them on keto, carnivore or ketovore. I’m just sayin 🤷‍♂️

I agree, and they do eat a lot of high-protein meals, but they also don't have the health issues or nutrient deficiencies that bring many people to Carnivore. I do have one that is really heavy on meats, but it will remain their choice, as long as I can provide quality ingredients for the alternative choices.
