In this video I show you how to make a game that scrolls, like Super Mario Bros. This isn't actually that difficult, but watch carefully to make sure that you get the scripts right. If you like my Scratch tutorials, please subscribe!
you cant put in mre than one sprite so in the final background in a scrolling game draw in the checkpoint on the last background (background as in the sprite background) the castle or where u want checkpoints do the same n differant backgrounds
hi, thanks for the video :) but i'm making a pretty big level and the 'camera' keeps catching up with the character so eventually he's on the right of the stage moving along rather than in the middle. do you know why this is happening? Thanks
I'm afraid it is normal and you can't change it, if you try to move sprites completely off the edge of the screen, they stay just visible, it's just what Scratch does.
All u have to do is make the sprite move, then when it's touching the sprite make the numbers negative in the same script where you made the moving script but underneath the change x and y by
The first time (480*0) is so that it shows on the first width of the screen. When you move along you effectively view another screen (so screen 1, screen 2, etc.) so you times it by another number to see the next width of the screen (e.g. 480*3 would show when you have scrolled 3 widths across, each of 480). Does that help? I hope it does!
