Fantastic build. The little details really make it stand out - the goods in the window, the plastic liner and trash in the can, the view of the store through the door. Great to see the back view with the bare foam too. Thanks for sharing this.
I’m absolutely loving the work you have been doing lately. Beats the hell out of plastic model kits! Keep it up Dave! You have to admit that the satisfaction one gets from a scratch build can’t be matched by any kit. I’m entering one of my build in a show tomorrow. It’s 1/35 scale Middle Ages blacksmith shop I built last year. Keep them coming!
I totally agree. I got sick of building commercially available stuff, like you say, the feeling when you finish a one-off that has meaning to you just can't be beat.
You have done it again Dave ! Another excellent model with extreme realism ! (I thought to myself, "that was a long plane ride from Oz to Key West." Ha. I guess only the model will be flying ! ) Too bad. You deserve a vacation in Florida and Disneyworld ! Cheers ! ❤❤❤🏬🏢🏥🏤💒🏦🙂
Dude, Not sure about everybody else??? But I am missing your videos!! I know it’s not easy. As I tried to even have a go at doing a video for a job recently! But I think you’ve done a good job so far and we’d love to see some new story from you soon!!!! 😀🕺🏻🎥🏖🇦🇺
Thanks Brad. It's been a while, I know. I have just completed a new miniature, I hope to publish a video this coming week. Thanks for sticking with me - Dave
You’ve inspired me, Dave. I’ve started a 1/24th Pasquale’s Pizzeria, San Francisco, on Sloat at the beach. Their slogan is the entirely uninspiring “you’ve tried the rest, now try Pasquale’s”.
Awesome build. How did you make the milk shake coke can etc.? I am building a 1: 25 '66 chevy and wanted to add some interior details to make it look like it's gathered garbage from its driver. Any suggestions or links to videos welcome, thanks!
G'day Dave and Greetings from the West Highlands of Scotland. Following on from Anthony Berg's comment, is the interior photo, behind the main door, taken from the actual building or just a generic shop picture? It has worked really well, the angle is near perfect and it adds real depth to the building. Great build and Thanks for sharing it. All the Best, Dougie.
Hi Dougie, it's a generic photo I found online. It was tough to find one with a camera angle which looked right, but eventually I found one in google images. Cheers from Oz, I'll raise a dram to you, Dave (my favourite is an Islay rather than a Highland drop, but it's all good...)
Dave I'm a little curious about your problem with enamels on styrofoam. What paint were you trying? I've always thought of enamels as having a petroleum distillate base, which are no problem on styrene and styrene foams. Laquers with toluene / acetone / keytone / MEK base will dissolve it right now of course. I've recently discovered there are laquer paints with alcohol and glycol bases, so my paint chemistry knowledge is certainly lacking.
Heh heh, I just laughed out loud! I've not been, but everything I find online says their sandwiches are to die for! What's so bad about them? Good to get a second opinion!
Nice work, I'm busy studying techniques. Air raid siren, in the village where I used to live in New Zealand, was the call for firefighters (volunteers) to get to the station for a call out.
Great as usual! You check that aluminum out? I found a sweet roller to that makes nice corrugated. So you do these on commission. I’d love to work toward that. Who are you likely clients? Owners of store? Train guys? Figure they’d build own. I just would like to make a side business navigating to full for my passion. Thanks as always for your replies.
