The opening was on Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments as audiences thought that Drew Barrymore was going to be the hero. Well, they were in for a shocking surprise! The film received mixed reviews but became a box office success, $173 Million Dollars against a $15 million dollar budget, released a week before Christmas, December 20, 1996.

I still think Ghostface cheated Casey. Jason Is the killer from Friday the 13th. They didn't ask for the killer in the First one. That makes a difference, but I may be misremembering the question. Maybe they Did state which. Haha.
@Smoovey
@Smoovey 2 года назад
@@LA_HA It wouldn't have mattered anyway. As Billy & Stu explain the rules in the final act, "if you get it wrong, you die...and if you get it right, you die..."
@LA_HA
@LA_HA 2 года назад
@@Smoovey 100% right. They weren't there to really test her. They were there to kick off the killing spree and get revenge. Still, I can't help but wonder what would've happened if Casey got all the answers right. Would they have freaked out or kept their word?
@TequilaToothpick
@TequilaToothpick 2 года назад
@@LA_HA They never specified who was the killer in the Friday 13th series (and even if they did her answer still wouldn't have been fully correct as he's not the killer in 1/5 of the Friday in the 13 movies) the implication was they were taking about the movie, not the series.
@LA_HA
@LA_HA 2 года назад
@@TequilaToothpick That's true. I was just thinking it out. For example, in the later Scream -- was it this last one? -- when they asked, "Who's the killer in the first Stab movie?" The victim answered that it was Billy Loomis, but the killer said she was wrong because there were Two killers, Billy Loomis And Stu Macher. My friend was completely annoyed because I said Billy Loomis was correct as a stand-alone answer because the question was "killer", not "killers", right? I was cracking up because she was like, "We're not going through this again." Bwahahaaa

The slasher genre is so underrated. There's a lot of creativity and commentary in the genre. There's often very sophisticated, subtle comedy too. I think Scream illustrates this well. If you like whodunits/comedies, I recommend Clue (it's not scary, but it is suspenseful and a lot of fun). Also, you should check out Misery. Misery is the first horror movie that garnered a Best Actor Academy Award (for Kathy Bates). Anyway, great reaction. Happy holidays to you!!

I don't think it's necessarily underrated but just a genre that's not as popular as it used to be.

It's not really underrated. For every Halloween, Black Christmas or Scream there were dozens of terrible slasher movies.

The mask in these films is based on a painting called 'The Scream' by an artist named Edvard Munch. The principal is played by Henry Winkler, a.k.a. The Fonz (from a show in the 1970s called Happy Days) so he's kind of a treat for people who grew up watching him. I love that he's in this. The mirror/principal thing is funny because The Fonz would always look in the mirror to fix his hair and see that it's already perfect. Lots of throwback jokes and refs in this film. The 'liver in the mailbox' voice is an imitation of comedian Jerry Lewis (pretty good, too).

When Randy (Jamie Kennedy) was watching Halloween by himself and telling Jamie Lee Curtis to turn around that he's behind you. Wes wanted to play on that with their really names. It was him telling himself that he Jamie needed to turn around lol. The way Wes Craven creates those little things is amazing and brilliant! - I'm glad that you caught on to it with the whole last 20-30mins everything that was happening around the house it was perfectly mirroring with what was happening in Halloween lol. Not to many pick up on that.

I think Ghost face is scary because you would never know to run from him. His mask is from the store and unmodified, he isn't very big and could blend in at any Halloween party. Even if you find out he's a threat he can just take off the costume and vanish into the crowd.

1. What I like most about doing this is watching people overthink it. 🧐 2. Cell phones weren't prevalent in 1996. 3. Dewey's superior IS the janitor since Wes Craven did the cameo as Freddy Kruger. 4. The principal was the Fonz/Henry Winkler. (one of Fonzie's Jacket is on a coat hanger in the closet) 5. Tatum/Rose McGowan as long as I have a face.😍😝😈 6. I love how the inept killer keeps getting his ass kicked🤣🤣🤣🤣 7. Fun fact: The reporter lady that ends saying "People have the right to know." is played by Linda Blair/Reagan from "The Exorcist".

@dancerkris95
@dancerkris95 2 года назад
Fun Facts: - So when Tatum said to Dewey that the janitor is your superior its true cause the janitor at the school that was dressed as Freddy Krueger was Wes Craven who directed the Scream-Scream 4 lol. - So before Scream came out caller ID was not popular at all. The Caller I.D use in the U.S tripled after Scream was released lol. - Billy AND Stu were at Casey's and used their girlfriends as Alibis for being out. Stu was on the patio with Steve while Billy was in the front tormenting her on the phone. The question about "Which door am I at" was a trick question. Stu ran to the front door to let Billy in you can hear the front door open before she went outside through the kitchen. When her mom was hearing Casey breathing on the other end of the phone line you can hear one talking to another saying "tree" and the the phone ends. - Wes Craven lol to get his actors into character emotionally like Drew Barrymore (Casey) and Neve Campbell (Sidney) right before he start to film he would run up to them and tell them something terrifying or sad like dead puppies and then run off and yell action lol. Drew's emotions were legit cause of Wes and for her love for animals lol. - Roger L. Jackson was the voice of Ghostface for all of Scream movies. For every film the actors were never allowed to meet him before or see him during filming so that way when they were on the phone with him it would give them that real fear effect. Wes Craven always kept him hidden from the others to where they couldn't see him but he was still able to see them. He also improved a lot of his lines aswell. - They casted Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis and gave him the same kind of hair style cause of how close he looked like to young Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street who he also climbed in through a bedroom window. His last name Loomis is a reference to Dr. Loomis in Halloween. - Also when he climbed through her window the first time "Fear the Reaper" was playing. He climbed through her window to distract her and turned on her stereo to cover up the background noise of Stu kidnapping her dad. If notice he was wearing the same outfit at the end. - The news lady that was harassing Sidney "how does it feel to almost being butchered" that's Linda Blair from the Exorcist. - If look really closely when Billy was "stabbed" in the bedroom you can see Stu adding the fake blood onto the knife before wiping it off. -Casey's comment about Nightmare on Elm Street about how the first was good but the rest sucked. It's because Wes Craven only did the first one and didn't direct all of the other ones lol. -Kenny actually saved Sidney in his literal final moment after his throat got slashed. He pointed to the back and told her door so she could crawl out. - Ghostface in the bathroom was a prank on Sidney it wasn't either Billy or Stu. - Rose McGowan(Tatum) was actually able to fit through the cat door. They had to staple her shirt to the door cause she kept falling out. Also just before her head got smashed in she herself added calling out "mom" and Wes loved it and kept it in. Rose also picked out her own outfits for her character. The jersey she wore with #10 was also a reference to Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street. - When Billy hit Stu in the head with the phone it was a accident on Skeets part. The fake blood was so sticky and ended up hitting Matthew Lillard instead of the desk and his "Oww You hit me with the phone D***" was a real reaction to it. Wes loved it aswell so he kept it lol. Matthew also improved most of his kitchen scene with his lines like with "Houston we have a problem" "the peer pressure" and the comment about his parents going to be so mad lol. - Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard actually started dating while filming Scream and were together for little over 2 years. So that whole "I've always had a thing for you Sid" was true lol. He originally auditioned for Billy but the casting didn't believe that Sidney would date someone like him lol. So he ended up getting Stu and Skeet got Billy cause of his look alike to Johnny Depp. Funny thing is even though the casting thought that a out Matthew they ended up dating real life anyways 😂 - When Billy got stabbed with the umbrella the 2nd time it actually hit Skeet where he had heart surgery when he was younger so that scream he let out was his real action to the pain. - Drew Barrymore was supposed to play Sidney. But she ended up changing her mind and went to Wes with a idea to have her as the open kill cause no one would expect it. Also would show if they could kill off a huge star right off the bat it would mean NO ONE was safe. -Even though Billy was at Sidneys for the attack. It was actually Stu who she fought with when he was tripping up the stairs you can hear ghostface saying "easy" "easy". The next day at the lockers he was checking his face in Tatums mirror for any bruises and when Tatum was hitting him with her sucker he says "easy" "easy. -Billy was always 1 handed with his killing if he had a knife if didn't he resorts to choking except for Tatum he used the opportunity with the garage door. He gave a signal look to Stu at the front door that Tatum was dead. Stu uses both hands when using the knife and resorts to other tactics if doesn't have knife like the both times he fought Sidney. -Stu was the one that called Dewey about the abandon car and also called Randy about the principal after the whole "I'll be right back". Billy killed the principal so they can use him as a deploy for later that night to get rest of the guests to leave so the real party can began. - Dewey was supposed to die in this one but Wes Craven and everyone just loved David Arquette and how he played his character. They all fell in love with him so at the end Wes had Dewey do the thumbs up to show the audience that he survived.

Scream is one of my favorite slasher movies of all time. It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as the concept and themes. It is credit for reinventing and revitalizing the slasher and horror genre which we're considered dead, boring, and repetitive at the time. It was decent. To this day I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old. 😍😎💯👍

Yeah Courtney Cox was doing "Friends" when she did Scream-Scream 3. David Arquette (Dewey) even did a few appearances on "Friends" as Urslas stalker. Neve Campbell (Sidney) was doing the exact same thing when she was doing all 3 Screams she was doing her tv series "Party of Five". Also that same year when Scream 96 came out Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich (Billy) also did "The Craft" together before doing Scream. They were both released in 96. In 97 Skeet Ulrich and Jamie Kennedy (Randy) had appearances in "As Good As It Gets" with Jack Nicholson.

One of my favorite movies hands down. I love this franchise so damn much, fun fact the garage scene with Rose McGowan (Tatum) she could fit through the cat door so they just had her act like she was stuck.

It's like scream based on true events if Danny rolling a killer in Gainesville FL did not kill 8 college kids in 1989 this scream movie wouldn't even exist that cool

Interesting you think the conjuring and annabelle is 'true' horror when I class it as predictable preteen ghost story... if there's no slicing and dicing to me it's not horror lol.

When people say his voice isn't scary, you have to remember that this was the 90's. No scary voice over a phone or message had ever been considered scary. Freddy is the only character that had a truly menacing voice up until this point. I guarantee you, Ghostface voice was scary af back in the day. The idea of getting a phone call and hearing that voice on the other end was a terrifying thought. Back when caller idea wasn't a big deal. This movie was truly scary for its time.
