Woo hoo, an all time personal favourite, hardly surprising given I loved Wes Craven, and knew Neve from Party Of Five. Scream was such a revelation when it came out. I was 14-15 when it came to VHS, and was instantly obsessed. This was mostly pre-internet, and I didn't have any sort of horror community in my nothing town in Northern Ireland. Seeing Scream showed me that there were other Horror nerds, and showed detractors that the genre was smarter than they would admit. Yessss, "SCREAM"! One of my all-time horror movie faves. Loved hearing you two fully discuss this movie from start to finish & the little facts thrown in here & there about it with the original script & the school situation. I also had no idea Molly Ringwald might have played Sidney originally. I love Molly as an actress, but Neve was perfect for the role. Looking forward to the next episode! 👏❤

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. Fantastic episode of a fantastic movie. Always great to hear extra easter eggs from other horror movies i didn't know before. It's not often you have a movie that reshapes horror i would say to present day. Drew Barrymore greatest cameo in a horror movie. Such a fantastic cast , loved Randy was so sad when he died in the sequel. Randy dying feels a mistake like Rachel in Halloween 5. Be so good to have him in the new movies. I can't wait for a Prom Night review, disco and death what a combination and years before Jason did it.

This podcast was 41 minutes longer than the movie =) and I would watch this again =)

The Talking Killer trope is mentioned in Ebert's Little Movie Glossary, published in 1994, so guessing the villainous monologue was well enough known at the time (I'm old enough I could have known but definitely wasn't sure).

There’s actually more to this franchise if you guys want to do a review on it I would love to see it. Also when you guys are going to do more about this franchise and do more videos about the horror community.

(My apologies if this a bit too long of a writing ) This is one of my favorite comfort flicks as well, if I can’t think of anything I know I can rely on Scream lol. I thiiiiiink the first time I saw Scream might’ve been 10 or 11 years old. I was at my old man’s place and he had satellite tv. It mighta been USA, but I can’t remember tbh, (of course it was edited for the home audience lol.) Instantly fell in love, as an adult (now 29) I’ve grown to love it more, Skeet Ulrich has such excellent facial expressions throughout this flick and is a terribly overlooked actor, he plays Billy so perfectly he borders on sleazy for so long, but has that sociopathic charm to him if that makes sense? Matthew Lillard, is a blast as Stu and I would love for him to be in more killer roles. Drew Barrymore getting killed in the beginning is such a shock and awe moment, it let you know *nobody was safe* which is a tried and true tradition with the franchise imo I love Neve Campbell, Sidney faces so much adversity it’s insane to see how she hasn’t snapped. Rose McGowan is so excellent as Tatum, (ngl I’d love to see her come back in some capacity!) Dewey is such a gem of a character imo he was the absolute glue of the core group, I love seeing David in RJ City’s coffee stream, seems like an absolute lovely guy (and yep AK, Minneapolis Minnesota is the home of His Royal Badness! Also here’s a Prince/Scream connection in Scream 2, the D’Angelo song that plays in the opening scene was written by Prince or rather The Artist) Jamie Kennedy was the perfect casting of Randy. He brought that character to life in the best way possible (I kinda wish they kept that inferred friendship with Stu and him, and kinda what made them split, in my head writing. They all grew up together, but Stu was always a bit off and Randy being the “weird movie kid” bonded with Stu until Stu started hanging with Billy.) Gale is such a fascinating character, I feel like she definitely had to fight a lot to get the position she did in that industry and was cynical and jaded by working the true crime beat Laura you are correct the 24 hour news cycle was in full swing by 1996! (I like looking up stuff from the past) Natural Born Killers was largely inspired by the constant pummeling of early 90s cable news if it bleeds it leads mentality. Mid 90s Cell phone number cloning did seem to be a thing (it was common thing with street criminals from what I understand), before SIM cards they had these things called EPROMS that were easy to duplicate/clone cell numbers (it’s a long and weird process, but basically once cloned the phone number cloned would be billed for the phone calls made by the cloner. If you’d like I could send an article?) My personal opinion on who wore the mask when. Billy killed Steve, the principal and chased Sidney in her home (like you guys said he was the brains and seemed like he was more than happy to let Stu on the loose.) Stu killed Casey, Tatum & Kenny (I could be wrong, but I’d love to hear your opinions.) Also if you notice Wes Craven gives a bit of a tip of a cap to Kevin Smith (Wes loved Kevin Smith and was a huge fan of his) twice once in the video shop when Stu and Randy talk about who the killer might be there’s a display of Clerks in the background and later a VHS of clerks on top of Stu’s VHS player. Also I noticed the weird medieval torture artwork in Stu’s parents bedroom after Billy and Sidney do the deed which makes me wonder what his parents were like? Also one last thing, I’m not sure if you guys saw, but in the latest Mortal Kombat game Ghostface will be appearing on the new round of downloadable content characters (Skeet Ulrich teased on his instagram story he was doing motion capture for something so he miiiiiight portray Ghostface or he might be doing the de-aging stuff for Scream 7.) Once again my apologies if this comment was too long, absolutely loving this podcast ladies and wish I could join you guys in Buffalo for the Lost Boys viewing. Hopefully one day though! Will be checking the show notes for the stuff mentioned!

I completely fell out watching Scary Movie when it came out in theaters. I was not expecting it to be as funny as it is. I love Scream and liked the first IKWYDLS and they roasted them perfectly.

As much as you guys are passionate about horror movies, this has felt like the most passionate episode so far! Even just the full breakdown of the opening scene with Drew Barrymore was so detailed. Also, I don't think we've given full credit for all the research and fun facts that y'all bring up about each movie from budgets, to character backgrounds, to BTS documentary commentary. Really impressive!👏
