Completely agree Alex. Not only do they sorely miss Kevin Williamson and or Ehren Kruger. They even more sorely miss Wes. The direction, writing, and acting in these last two are unacceptable. Truly the bottom of the barrel. That fanbase deserved better
Also I have so many unanswered questions about scream 6: Also, a few other plot holes about this dumb film that bothered me: How did Sam not meet Richie's family before Scream 6 when she was dating Richie for 6 months? How was Dermot Mulroney able to work as a cop under a false identity? How did Gale the reporter stumble upon the dumb shrine before Kirby aka the FBI agent did? Why did Richie's family kill the therapist? How did Gale not hear her boyfriend being murdered behind her and why doesn't she have a security system in that apartment of hers? Why was that dumb shrine built in NYC? NYC has nothing to do with the Stab films How did Quinn fake her own death??? How was Kirby able to work that case when fbi agents aren’t allowed to work on cases that they have a personal connection to? How did Richie's fam know that Flash Thompson and his bf were trying to kill Sam and Tara?

I actually didn’t mind 4. Overtime it grew on me more and more and I really enjoy it now. Especially after having seen the new movies the writers gave us.
I am shocked that one of the two writers on Scream 5 and 6 is James Vanderbilt. For those who don’t know that is the writer of David Fincher’s Zodiac one of the best films ever made. Scream franchise is definitely running out of steam at this point and now that most of the original cast is gone I might call it quits. I still like the directors Radio Silence and I hope they go on to make more original horror films soon.
I think there COULD still be a few more stories, they would just have to find some writers that better understood where Scream was coming from. Not dissing their other works but it missed the mark here. Which makes me sad because of how much I love this franchise.

It always makes me feel refreshingly sane when I hear other ppl talk about how bad it is. Scream 1 is my favorite movie and the franchise (at least 1-4) is my favorite franchise. What these new writers and directors have done to this series is depressing as hell. The writing sucks, the motives suck, the dialogue sucks. The writing sucks, the acting sucks. My only positive point about 5 was seeing Sidney, Gale and Dewey again. (Can’t even get started on how screwed up they carried out the Dewey situation. (Not to mention the whispers of how the directors treated the OG cast.) As much as it hurt to hear Neve exit, she made the right choice because her character is better than this crap. You probably have already heard the new rumors, but it’s being said that now that there’s a new director Neve has been in talks to come back. I will watch again if she is in because at least then there’s a CHANCE it might be good. But I don’t trust the writers at all. How in the world THEY were the ones to carry this franchise forward is a spit in the face of what Kevin brought to the table. And I absolutely hate these new characters. They are so flat and just pale in comparison with I literally every character that has ever appeared in the movies. (The girls in the bathroom in 1 gave more depth than these “core 4”…a god awful name in itself.) I guess it’s succeeding because Gen z and the new characters, but these new movies have no rewatch-ability and there’s no way they will stand the test of time.
I did hear that news I hope Neve doesn’t t return but if they pay her what she’s worth good for her. These movies just aren’t worth it for us is the thing. I hate these last two with the biggest burning passion. The reveal in this was some of the worst hit you can ever imagine. Thank you for watching!
