Thank you for this amazing video Shows how the modern era was the start of our modern, globalised world and economy. Cheers from Belgrade, no longer under siege :)

Low-carb ice cream bar and Smarthistory time! 🥰 This is yet another object I wasn't expecting to see in your playlists but much more predictable than a gilded coconut. It took me a while to accept that Moctezuma =! Montezuma - I waited too long for a backstory on the latter, lol.

If the ice cream was Chocolate, you can thank the Mexica (Aztec).

I found that you mentioned that this artwork is the only one that made by the technic of biombo enconchado. However this technic is way more popular and widespread in Asia VS what we might assume. In fact, there is a biombo encrusted with shell in the Palace Museum in Beijing, China. Also, there are lots of biombo enconchado in ancient handicraft in Asia, and you may found antiques from 16th century or later which feature biombo enconchado quite effortlessly. If you are interested in Raden (a more common-used synonym for enconchado), I believe that you would like to take a look at the Biwa(琵琶) in Shosoin in Japan.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, you are correct. We were speaking about the rarity of a biombo enconchado made at this time in what is now Mexico.
