I absolutely love your videos I am 21 years old and I am a jack of all trades I do everything from remodeling houses to pouring driveways and running heavy equipment i learn alot watching your videos keep up the good work and keep the videos coming
Andrew this is my first comment. My wife and I do a lot of what you do and we love your channel because just because you don't do things like us is the exact reason we love watching. Besides we don't get much of a chance to watch someone else work and seem to love it as much as we do. God bless brother, stay safe.
Hey Andrew love ur channel. But I noticed in the new episode u r driving a new truck. When did u by the white dodge. Does it a Cummings engine. Look good
I love all the toys you have. Over the time I have been getting my collection up. I don’t have any large machines yet but I hope one day. One day at a time is all I can do.. thanks for the videos
After being a subscriber for a long time I met Andrew in a Lowes parking lot the other day. I was start struck and said something stupid, sorry Andrew :) What a genuinely nice and talented guy, he also introduced me to Cody. Great work, your videos are informative and mesmerizing, keep it up!!
magic job andy , looks a real treat , have to get yourself a Power harrow , to go behind your tractor , the best tool for leveling & creating a bloody good seed bed for the ol grass to grow , ive done acres of it & some of the areas have been hard as concrete , power harrow sorted it all out , keep up the good work , love it .....

Thanks, glad you like the videos, when the videos are sped up like the audio is gone, the video is a little weird silent, so I add music from the RU-vid library, some people like it.
Great job with getting that mix of soil and mulch spread around that house. You did a great job and that guy is going to end up with more Grass than he is going to want to mow.
You are a good operator. I would recommend killing the weeds a couple weeks prior. I then scraped the property with a tooth bucket. It worked out great The lawn will come in better. Really nice work. If you get a new machine I really liked the bobtach I had it was nice changing attachments.
Dude I watch your videos everyday. I found you on RU-vid a couple of days ago. I'm a contractor in Brooklyn NY, and I really like watching all your videos. I wonder how this job turned out, it would have been nice to see the after video of the lawn all grown out.
I used a box blade behind the 4wd tractor for lawn prep. With the scarifiers down I have pulled up big chunks of concrete and roots, not sure the home owners even appreciated it. Then I watched you spread the topsoil so fast, not sure I could have done it any better. Anyway I am retired now and have fun watching your excellent video instead. I like your screener.
I worked as a landscaper for two summers at an amusement park. The entire park was self contained, nothing was hired out. we had half a dozen enormous green houses and at the end of every summer they kept my friend and I on and we dug every plant out of the park by hand and re potted them then stored them in the greenhouses. we "made" dirt so to speak. We would go out and dig up black dirt and screed it to powder. Then we "cooked" it! Yes, cooked the dirt! it killed any weeds, then we added perlite and other minerals and potted every plant. Your wife could never burn anything in the oven that smells worse than cooked dirt!
You are a really hard and dedicated worker Andrew. But I think in this project you really need a lot more than 30 yards of soil to fortify that lawn. Healthy grass plants have roots almost a foot deep. Maybe you wouldn't need a foot deep of new soil, but more than 30 yards total.
In this case he’s good. The soil he screened is the same as what’s creating the layer underneath the newly enriched soil. Side note: The difference in what constitutes topsoil in different areas than my own is amazing. The stuff I sell for lawns is black as coal.
ALL The best lawn grass has very shallow root system that is why lots of people buy ready grown turf and lay it in rolls. If grass roots get deep the grass growes in tufts and you do not get a nice lawn. Check it out, grass with long roots long grass, short roots short grass, the top growth is usually equal to the root size.
Bullshit! When turf is harvested most of the roots are cut, that's why when it's laid it needs to be watered like heck. Once it's established you cut the watering frequency way back to establish deeper roots. An inch or two of soil laid on top of clay, right! I'm not having a go at the creator, I think he's a good guy, but this was NOT a good job. That area should have been tilled to break up the clay and mix in the organics. That owner will always have trouble growing good lawn on that site.
The house faces west which looks to be part of the challenge. Times laps shows the sun go away early in the day. Then the shadow of the house across the street also casts a large print over the front lawn as demonstrated at the end of the video as you are pulling away. Sometimes customers ask us to do things we don't necessarily agree with, but the machines need to keep working. Want Grass---Those seeds need water. No sprinkler system, that chick going to need a few pocket hoses for this job!
man just thinking i bet this dude dont give to shit what people think about his work and well i dont blame him lot of bad comments but this guy has skills and works damn hard
If there is any chance you could swing by and get a few shots and an interview for a follow up video, that would be awesome. Andrew, you did your thing awesome but the questions of weather this works and if fertilizer and additional issues were in play would make an awesome video. Gobs of folks just want to grow grass.
Great job, the only thing I might have done different would be after the soil and compost were spread, is lightly till it with a 3Pt hitch tiller. Maybe just an inch or two into the original soil base. Then seed it, roll it to insure good seed to soil contact, add a little fertilize and cover it with shredded straw.
Hey bud you did a great job but speaking from experience after you spread out the top soil and compost you should have went over the entire yard with a tiller and tilled the ground up and then serviced the dirt, doing that would have broken up the old rock hard dirt and mixed it with the new dirt and compost and would have been better for the growth of new grass!
My recommendation would be to shovel equal parts dirt and compost into a large bucket, mix them up, and THEN spread it. Better chance of growth just as long as you remember to water the grass
Good job, sir. The poor guy, only house on the street with no grass. I think I'd just spread a few loads of mulch, put in some walkways and do it up with plants, bushes and fruit trees.
Top job mate ! I mostly use 360s with blade float equipped for jobs like this. I would like to have ago at a job with a skid steer but you don’t see a lot of them over here in the U.K. 😔
I was delaying this video, waiting to go back there and get a nice drone shot of the wall and a green lawn. But this was too late in the year. That probably wont be a green lawn till next year.
O would have run a topog of lot then created swales at edge of property to move water from foundation of house with french drains. Of course we have 160" of rain where i live. Not sure of your location or micro climate. A level on your bobcat is great for landscaping. I use tractor mounted rotovator your screen unit would be great to screen i foot of yard to airate soil. Soul testing is good . Add lime to balance ph of soil. Without natural mulch trace minerals and lime aged sawdust helps . Pacific national labs richland wa does research on soil. What is needed . The county extension agent is free source of info and training to contractor and homeowner. I install drip irrigation above ground for cheap watering. A supplier will do free design layout you can supply your homeowner. Start with controller and manifold then install by zone above ground. Or trench in pipe to zones and cap. Saves dig up of new lawn. A plan with layout can be used to upgrade later. Some regions of country will require it in the future or high price to water lawn. I would suggest natural habitat not 1/4 acre lawn to mow and water next 30 years. Qe go in woods dig up local trees and transplant.
Just curious, any reason why the customer did not get the correct amount of top soil and having it done the right way? If it were my job I would have measured for 4" deep, rototilled, graded, hand raked than seeded with a brillion seeder. A very light top dress with compost is not the right way way to start a new lawn especially with compacted dirt. No criticism here, everyone does things their way but I'm just curious. @20k sq feet that's roughly 240 yards of soil. 2" is obviously 1/2 but the results of even 1" tilled would make an much better end result and healthier lawn.
>^..^< Looks like you are real our real good at back draging too Mr. C. Sadly your top soil seems symilar to ours in the Poconos. Seems the ice sheets/glaciers robbed all the good organic stuff and left sand, clay and rocks. It might seem like it may be a good idea to run the rejected soil thru the vibrator a second time would be well worth the effort perhaps. It looked like a lot of crap but also a lot of good stuff too on my computer screen here. Just a thought, not being there is a much better judgment call.......
Never seen a dirt screen in action before but they must have something similar for making 1/4 inch minus gravel too. Heck of a machine. When you complete your toy chest, you should have retirement well in dollars and cents you should retire nicely I hope
I love your videos and keep them coming! I had started a concrete and landscaping business a few years out of high school but during the 3 year of business my high schools buddy I was in partnership with decided to drain the savings account and sneak off. Leaving me and the business to go under and major debt. However, my questions are: 1 why didn't you re-run the pile of garbage to gain a bit more of topsoil and 2 I need a screener like yours. I looked up and see a new one is like 6700.00. Where did you get yours?
We will need to do this in the spring once our house is finished being built. My question is how thick of top soil should you place so I can plant a nice lawn and shrubs around the house. I guess in my head, I was thinking a solid foot of top soil would be ideal, but maybe it doesn’t need to be that deep?
