Script Breakdown: How to Discover all the Elements Your Film Needs
You need to have all the right elements on set, either in front of or even behind the camera, when you’re ready to shoot. Whether its props, extras, pyro effects, special equipment, creating a script breakdown ensures you at least know what you need. Frank shows you how a script breakdown is traditionally created and how you can modify it to work for your indie productions.
Welcome to Pull My Focus, adventures in the world of video filmmaking, where we provide you with the tips, techniques, and guides you need to produce great video.

Thank you. Does your spectacles comes under Prop or wardrobe? Are Ear Rings, Watches, Finger Rings, Jewellery a Prop or a part of Wardrobe? Pls answer.

Great question. Normally all come under wardrobe unless there's something different about it that requires it to be a prop. let's say the character wears a pair of googles. That's wardrobe. But lets say the googles light up and glow in different colors. Well that has to be made by the prop department. The best way to think about is not how to breakdown the script by rules but by what department will have to acquire, make, and maintain the item. Who will be responsible for it because it in the end is all that matters.

It's the bane of the audio portion of our existence right? (how did you film that spider?! That video freaks me out. I can't do spiders.)

Not in Udemy as they don't pay very well. We do have a course we sell on our website (link in the description of our videos) on audio mastering. I am working on courses for production and videography.

On a large studio production, who's job is this?
@PullMyFocus
@PullMyFocus 6 лет назад
Usually the 1st AD (assistant director). I've been hired in the past to do just a breakdown of a script very early in the process so they could create a budget. More detailed work is done when a film is greenlight, where you sit down with the director and ask the detailed questions not covered in the script. We're doing a video on that soon.
