Scroll Compressor Troubleshooting 

Sir John how are you, I'm Nimrod from Geo Service here in Cayman. I checked a split type unit geothermal AC and when the solenoid valve of the scroll compressor for the 2nd stage works, the 24volts that supplying the magnetic contactor coil will gone. What's the cause of this problem Sir John? Thank you and God bless🙏

Thanks for a great guide. Very useful. Have you ever come across a scroll compressor that starts and turns off in 2-3 seconds. I was thinking worn bearings causing thermal overload but I can turn it off and right back on with no lockout. Don't know if an open bypass would allow it to try to start and fail. Any recommendations on things to check with this behavior. Customers initial problem was a freeze up at the condenser. I came after another service guy and the compressor won't start. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks 😊

I have a Nutone HVAC heat pump with a Copeland Scroll compressor. The problem is a loud buzz on startup and intermittently during the cycle. I am thinking it may be the compressor, but, not sure. Have replaced capacitor and checked wiring but still have the buzz at the compressor. Would hate to change compressor if its not bad. Any other causes for this buzz and what would cause the buzz within the compressor?

I had 4 compressors in a row that had open electrical from common lug right after install? Less,than a Lb of refrigerant added?

I am suspecting that when you charge a copeland scroll with liquid through high side while under vacuum causes internal damage with the result being equalized pressure while running....If so why?

Does anyone ever answer questions in comments?Is 15amps on 2nd stage scroll 5t good?Unit says 25.6 RLA on nameplate.TIA.

I have placed a unit in the Deep vacuum and then add refrigerant r410a in liquid form as procedure requires into the high side of the system. Twice now after doing. The compressor was not running when I added. I do this to break the vacuum and get a holding charge on it and then I start the unit. After doing this I find the compressor will not pump. Motor starts fine and the compressor runs fine but there is no pressure differential period why is this happening? I have always been taught that you can add liquid refrigerant into the high side on an empty system with no problems. Your thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated. in the old days I would call it bad valves but I know the new compressors do not have valves.
