This is still my favorite version of A Christmas Carol (Scrooge). The music is poignant and beautiful, and I am grateful to have grown up with it. It is amazing to think this film is now 50 years old, and now an timeless classic.
For the more astute , good lesson in how and where to find happiness. Too many people think of it as a someday thing when you've reached your top class status, but never forget that happiness doesn't depend on if or when, it is now and in found everywhere. The smallest of things especially. Never ever forget to be grateful for all you have, and have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Yes true. It’s sort of a sad/ disturbing realization too of how we chase happiness. And that there is no future, there’s only now. It’s all in the present. We will never really feel we arrive. It’s all now.
One of my all time fav movies, went to see it in the cinema went it was released, still watch it at Xmas, it's get disregarded by the critics, but it's a beautiful film and soundtrack, not to mention, Albert Finley, Alec Guinness, Kenneth Moore, a true British Classic and a timeless story from Dickens
They say happiness is a thing you can't see A thing you can't touch I disagree Happiness is standing beside me I can see him He can see me Happiness is whatever you want it to be Happiness is a high hill Will I find it? Yes, I will Happiness is a tall tree Can I climb it? Watch and see They say happiness is the folly of fools Pity poor me One of the fools Happiness is smiling upon me Walking my way Sharing my day Happiness is whatever you want it to be Happiness is a bright star Are we happy? Yes, we are Happiness is a clear sky Give me wings and let me fly Let me fly For happiness is whatever you want it to be Yes, happiness is whatever you want it to be
This song makes me think of my beautiful girlfriend. She's half the world away right now, needing surgery, and I can't see her because of Corona. She is my happiness.
Love versus lust. Gratitude vs bottomless covetousness. Such a fitting song for the tragedy of what Scrooge became and the character flaws that almost doomed him
Wonderful song in what is the best of all the 'Christmas Carol' movies. Watching this movie was a family Christmas pastime growing up and I've in turn passed it on to my own family now. Albert Finney was a treasure.
Childhood memories, so nice-- it was always a joy watching this lovely film each year in December on a local television channel where I grew up in Long Island, New York. My sister and I loved "Scrooge" and its wonderful music, period atmosphere, and solid acting.
Thank you for sharing these MarianneLily. I believe this is one of the most powerful stories every written and I know that anyone who would share it must have the Spirit of God within. You are from Italy? So, I would assume that Italian is your native tongue?
I loved this movie the first time I saw it and when I saw the DVD for sale I had to have it! We play this film every year as it absolutely gets us all into a Christmas Spirit....Fantastic musical rendition of 'A Christmas Carol'... Albert Finney was stellar....The ghosts who visit are both a bit spooky and quite funny at the same time... The 'Jacob Marley' ghost was Alec Guinness who was actually hilarious....
Anyone a fan of the original version of this film, be sure to check out the new Netflix animated Scrooge, with many of these same songs updated with new singers.
Must say, I really do enjoy the animated version, it brought me back to the wonderful story of A Christmas Carol and especially brought me to this video
