High-spirited high jinks on Christmas Eve put Frank Cross (Bill Murray) in a ghostly time warp in this hilarious take-off of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." Cross, who has made the meteoric rise from the depths of the mailroom to TV network president, is mean, nasty, uncaring, unforgiving and has a sadistic sense of humor - perfect qualities for a modern-day Scrooge.Before the night is over, he'll be visited by a maniacal New York cab driver from the past, a present-day fairy who's into pratfalls and, finally, a ghoulish, seven-foot headless messenger from the future.

Hey James. You've actually seen a couple of those actresses on the channel before. The ghost of Christmas Present played the wife of Miracle Max in Princess Bride (Carol Kane), and Claire was Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark (Karen Allen). Keep the great reactions coming and have a great Xmas!

The other mom from Goonies was in this too, Mary Ellen Trainor, Mikey and Brand's mom. She was one of the Frank's execs in this. She works with Richard Donner a lot. She is the police psychologist in the Lethal Weapon series, she's been in all four movies. The control booth director was played by Steve Kahan. He was the cop Armus in Superman and the captain in all the Lethal Weapon movies. He's also Richard Donner's cousin.

An underrated Holiday gem in my book. Carol Kane as the ghost of Christmas Present steals the show for me. Fun fact: the actor who played Bill's character's father is Brian-Doyle Murray, Bill's older brother.

"She's so cute! I love her!!!" The one and only Carol Kane as the Ghost of Christmas Presant truly is a 🎁, and the best part of Scrooged. She's so whimsical and violent! Carol's in a lot of great stuff, but never really gets a starring role.

A few cast acknowledgements: -The younger brother was played by Bill Murray's ACTUAL younger brother John -"Guest #1" was played by another Murray brother, Joel -The part of the butcher dad was played by Bill's older brother Brian Doyle-Murray -The Marley-esque former TV exec was played by John Forsythe (longtime character actor, also provided Charlie's voice in the original TV series "Charlie's Angels") -The transients that gather around Frank when he first shows up at the shelter are longtime character actor Michael J Pollard, and married thespians Logan Ramsey (who also had a long character acting career) and Anne Ramsey (who even after losing her tongue to cancer starred in the film comedy "Throw Momma from the Train"); RIP to the entire trio -Eliot Loudermilk was played by the comedian Bobcat Goldthwait, who also starred in a remarkable film "Shakes the Clown" (1991, written & directed by Goldthwait) -The Ghost of Christmas Past was played by David Johansen (aka 'Buster Poindexter', famous for the song "Hot, Hot, Hot") -The Ghost of Christmas Present was Carol Kane (too many comedy roles in TV & film to mention, though perfect for Miracle Max's wife in "The Princess Bride" and Grandmama in "Addams Family Values", plus a recurring role in the TV sitcom "Taxi" as Latka Gravas's wife Simka) -The IBC nurse was played by Kathy Kinney, who went on to play the over-cosmetic'ed 'evil' secretary on "The Drew Carey Show" So many other notable luminaries in this cast, but I leave it to others to research their histories/resumes (including A-List actors Robert Goulet and Robert Mitchum).

James, I know you recognize more music people than actors. The Ghost of Christmas Past in this is a guy named David Johansen(he has sung under that name, but he got hid greatest fame if not hid best work as a singer called Buster Poindexter and his big hit was called "Hot, Hot, Hot", which came out a year before Scrooged. And yes you used a Meet Cute correctly!

The guy playing Frank's brother is one of Bill's actual 4 brothers(named John). The guy who played his father in the past is another of Bill's brothers(named Brian).

This is A Christmas Carol but with a fun spin to it. The tagline reads "This Time, Its Three Ghosts Against One." This is a subtle reference to GHOSTBUSTERS.

The Cat/Dog channels actually work lol. Our German Shepard loved the Dog channel and would just sit there making her vocal noises at the TV and getting excited when Dogs would come on screen.

I didn't know about Cat/Dog channels (no cable) but years ago had a VHS (remember those) of a wild bird documentary that I used to entertain my dog because she loved it & would be like a child watching cartoons. Bouncing around & screaming at the jump scares.

Yep, you spotted Anne Ramsey (The homeless lady) correctly from Goonies. She was also the title character in "Throw Momma From The Train," a comedy/suspense film with Billy Crystal and Danny DeVito.

I moved here to Dayton, Ohio almost 3 years ago from California and the Christmas theme runs strong here. Lights are everywhere and you get a real holiday spirit here. I love it here. California was my home state, and it has gone so far into the abyss as far as everything goes, being here is refreshing

If I had to watch any other Christmas Carol adaptation other than the 1951 Alastair Sim version or the 1971 wildly imaginative animated version (with Alastair Sim as the voice of Scrooge), it's this one. As much as I want to like Spirited because it stars Ryan Reynolds, who is from my hometown, it's just a cocky, sarcastic pretty boy in the Bill Murray role. This movie works because of the actors. Carol Kane is terrific and hilarious as the Ghost of Christmas Present. I hope Bill took receipts.

Here's one no one remembers where I loved Carol Kane's character; "Flashback", with Dennis Hopper and Kiefer Sutherland. It's a comedy with a 1960's theme, which I love.

I'm so glad you decided on this one, it's on my top 3 Christmas movies ever. I couldn't wait for you to get to the Ghost of Christmas Present LOL I knew you'd love her. Her name is Carol Kane she was Miracle Max's wife in Princess Bride that's the only movie roll I think you might have seen her in, she's been in several. She's been on several TV shows too like Taxi and still does alot of movies and TV today. Every Christmas eve we have a certain set movies playing in the background from the time we get up till bedtime Die Hard, A Muppet Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story, This Movie (Scrooged), the 1971 musical version of Scrooge, and Home Alone. This year we're adding Spirited (a 2022 version of Scrooge that just came out), others come and go but that's the main list. There's a good reason Bill Murray plays an a-hole as good as he does, because he is one in real life. I have some personal experience with him and trust me Frank Cross isn't that far off from the way Murray really is. If you or anyone is interested reply and I'll tell you a nice little bedtime story about good ole Bill LOL. That being said tho he and the rest of the cast nailed their respective parts making this one of the best Christmas movies ever. Loving watching you watch all these movies, you've become my favorite reactor, you're laugh is very contagious. Your sense of humor is what keeps me coming back. *Keep up the good work*

A Christmas Carol has always been the best piece of Christmas fiction by a long mile, most adaptions of it are a good watch. I've never seen this one though, which is rare because I've usually seen all the movies you watch. I'll have to check out the full thing

Carol Kane [Xmas Present ] was Miracle Max's wife in The Princess Bride, she has done a lot of voice work in kids programs and movies, also played Grand Mama in Addom' Family Values [the 2nd one where the kids go to camp], also done a lot of early TV work [like in Taxi] but you may not know some. She is a talented and versatile actress. Claire was in Indiana Jones [did I miss you saying that?]. Anyway, always love your laugh ♥

Simple answer. Cats & Dogs understanding of our world. - Is greater than our understanding of theirs. & We're supposed to be the intelligent ones... Picked up an 8wk old sled dog pup & raised her in a log cabin without a doorbell. When a doorbell rang on TV she started barking & ran to the front door. (Every time) She'd never seen nor heard an actual doorbell in her entire life. How the hell did she put those two together. Because I never got up & answered the door when it rang on TV, you knocked on my front door.

If you couldn’t tell from Danny Elfman’s opening credits cue, this film originally was going to be much darker. I’m glad they went this way, though, as it’s now a classic enjoyed by many every year.

I always thought Bill Murray was too smarmy for this role. He's in great movies even though he can't NOT be smarmy. Am I really the only one who thinks that? He can't play a nice guy to save his life. My favorite joke in this is the homeless people think he's Richard Burton (there IS a resemblance) and he just goes with it.
