I love how you described it as an astral screen. That made perfect sense. This is a wonderful description of scrying. I understand it much better now. I know what you mean by the images that form in your head. My problem is when I see it, I somehow pull out of it. It's frustrating. I think I let my mind get in the way because it's like my mind notices that it's working and since I'm new I get excited and then I'm out of the state of mind that allowed me to see it in the first place. This also happens to me with clairaudience. I feel I have missed a lot of messages because of this. I need to stay focused and I think the meditation will help.
You can scry with anything or without. You can just unfocus your eyes (easy when your eyesight isn't great) and stare into a darkened hallway or even at a blank wall. Even looking with your peripheral vision. You'd be surprised what you see. Another thing is to learn the runes, suddenly you start seeing them everywhere! You can even use a natural bowl with water in it and a candle behind it. That worked for me. Black mirrors I'd love to try! I even get visions without trying to scry occasionally, I saw a small creature at my glass sliding door and realised it wasn't there but it was a message. I was lucky to be a natural at scrying and a rune reader/medium told me I was a natural at runes but I don't use them lately. Scrying is always a good thing. You don't need anything special and you decide what the message is.
Curios about this. In my reading Peter J. Carroll recommends keeping the eyes focused while emptying the mind during scrying. Maintaining that focus is a skill developed through practice. Do you recommend unfocusing the eye?

I created my black mirror scrying tool from a cheap clear glass dinner plate from a dollar store and a bottle of metallic black acrylic paint. It lives on a shelf and stays covered with a cloth between uses. I love my mirror. Created a spirit board using same method and paid for glow in the dark letters and numbers.

I think I used to do this as a child? Looking in my room, staring with my terrible eyesight and started to see "dreams" with my eyes open. The darkness/light had to be just right. It kept me from sleeping because it was fun and felt comfortable.
Finally I got my answer. Years ago, I looked in the mirror and was scared seeing my face change. Up until now, I thought it was just me being weird. Thank you for this information. I'm very thankful 🙏
my great grandmother was a scryer, among other things ,she had a crystal ball, people used to make appointments to come to her house! my grandmother and my mother told me we had gifts but my mom didnt want me involved, although my gramma did show me a bit of tea leaf readings, palm reading, and i know she did some readings feeling bumps on peoples heads!my mom did have a tarot deck wrapped up in her top dresser drawer, but i only saw them out with her once when i went to visit her unexpectedly once as an adult! ive always been interested, and ive always had many paranormal , obe,s experiences, ive seen aura,s around people not always but sometimes, it kinda feels like coincidences just happen to me all the time! my great grama my grama and my mom have all past away, so have my aunts on that side! I live alone, but i never feel alone! my mom was 0 negative blood type, she was at one with nature ,spent a lot of time in it, wild animals out of no where, would feel safe with her, she could feed them by hand, its like she attracted them! sometimes chipmunks and squirrels and birds would walk or land on her! i dont spend as much time as her in nature but i also am finding hurt animals are drawn to me, i just find them, or come across them, i always am able to nurse them back to health and release them, everything from racoons to ravens to little birds ,all species! i dont go looking for anything out of normalcy, it seems to find me? I have no one to talk to me, or teach me, ive just been buying books and researching on my own, im realizing that i am different from other people, i assumed everyone had similar experiences threw life, i now realize that isnt true! im a sort of a kitchen witch, lol i make my own teas, i pick wild plants and dry roots and love to do it and to research, medicinal plants and uses from all different cultures, but mainly the ones that grow around me! my gut feelings feel more like premonitions to me, i am very intuitive and easily read between the lines when people talk to me, or are even just near me! my youngest son, in his 30s now has come to me many times now, telling me about how he seems to know things! hes a bit weirded out by it, i told him we had some gifts, im not sure he believes it! i remember when i didnt believe either and i thought the talk was just entertainment and stories! my great grandmother did own a teahouse way back, where she did have a back room for readings and she lived above it in a little apt. It was very successful, and was in downtown Toronto Canada, she was born in england, but moved to canada after the war with her new husband who was a soldier in the war! i do wish i could find a mentor, i have walked into a few shops who say they are psychics, or tarot readers and palm readers, etc, but im not feeling it when i go into the atmosphere, i do feel a bit of something in most cases but its not a level i feel could help me? i do hope you keep posting! and i think i can hopefully lear something here that resonates with me! im not sure where to focus my energies, or if i am capable of more! i do know i want to help people, but i am not sure how to do it?
Am glad you had some elders to tell you a little about the gifts that run in your family so that at some point you would recognize the truth of what is going on. There are more of us than we think because many have been afraid to speak up. Here's to finding a compatible community. I, too, am often unimpressed by people who say they are psychic (have had some hysterically funny "readings" that were so off the mark I started looking around to see if there was someone hiding in the room that they were reading since it was clearly not me!). I'm not here to tell you where to go from here since your path is distinctively your own, but it sounds like you've been traveling in the right direction for a long time now and just keep putting on foot in front of another and you'll do just fine. I, too, don't go looking for things to take care of. In my case it seems to be lost souls that are stuck in between the worlds and need help getting to where they need to be. I would just love it if a bird were to land on me! Maybe in the future. I could've written this post! Only it was never talked about in my family, but we all knew that we had many gifts and were "different". I learned very young to keep my mouth shut about it because the world thinks it's weird, or worse, evil. I have hidden behind a middle-class "respectable" career as a "normal" citizen for 50+ years, and I'm ready to be more honest with myself and other people. You can do the same by simply closing your eyes and looking straight ahead. The eyes automatically cast downward to a sort of neutral position when you close them but if you raise them, you can trigger the vision centers and see things. Or worlds or animals or people - whatever. If you refrain from thinking "That looks like a ____", the vision will come into focus but if you try to associate a form with something familiar or assume you know the form it's going to take, it will poof.
I can confirm this method. I found out like accidently. You need to disable your left thinking brain. So no judging, just observing. and keep eyes focused at one point like looking at the direction of your forehead with your eyes closed. But there is also a "next level" of vision, which i experienced but not sure how to recreate. Which lasted like a fullblown minute and as sharp and colorfull as a 120inch 8k OLED TV Screen which would stay there wether I openend or closed my eyes. It was litteraly on a like 16:9 aspect ratio or something like that.

I am only 15 years old and since I was a little girl, I love to study and explore (with all due respect and seriousness) esoteric subjects because I believe that it tell us more about our consciousness which is more than the physical world. I inherited from my mother the gift of premonitory dreams (I don't have much control over them and I'm still getting used to this gift), but I like to explore other forms of divination, such as scrying. But unfortunately, I can't go into trance (I don't know how to induce trance either), soft my eyes or focus for a long time on my scrying tool without getting tired or feeling sleepy. I wanted to try with a mirror because I think I won't get tired so fast with it, but I'm afraid I'll end up summoning something, because I don't know how the messages will appear in the mirror without my face turning into something scary. Even after this wonderful and enlightening video I still have many doubts (maybe because I still don't understand very well the English spoken, since my native language is Portuguese). Sounds like you are at the beginning of your journey and there is much to learn and experience ahead of you. Try to give yourself the time you need to go slowly. There is no rush to develop all of your abilities immediately. Practice the softening of your eyes and you will get it with time, I am sure. And if gazing in a mirror makes you anxious there's nothing wrong with waiting for awhile. Generally when you first start trying to mirror gaze you end up seeing some relatively scary faces because your face will transform as you look. Some believe you are seeing possible past lives, some worry they're seeing spirits. The main goal is to be able to gaze without feeling fear and anxiety and just accept what you see without necessarily trying to define it. I had extreme premonitions around your age and they were terrifying and confusing as there was no one to tell me that it might run in the family.
Great video! I use a magnifying lens my grandfather passed down to me. Also, I can some times see images behind my eyelids. I've also heard some people use the cuticle of their thumbnail for scry into.
It's not uncommon in the beginning as things are opening up for you to experience anxiety when you experience new sensations and are awakening new senses/abilities. Things will get more comfortable as you get used to the current level of discomfort. If you are worried about what or who it might be you can cast a circle before you begin to help you feel more secure.
I'm loving this, just found you now. That black scrying mirror is divine!!! Since I've done beginners and intermediate mediumship I've noticed, now and again, before I open my eyes in the morn I'm seeing smokes floating around in my 3rd eye and then making images. I assume this is the same thing as scrying, without the tools!?
Yes. I get what is like a fog or mist when the sun goes down when my third eye starts to automatically open so am assuming it's probably the same thing.
I like them too! The scrying mirror was a surprise (the one I'm holding). My husband and I went into this wonderful shop (which is, sad to say, gone now) in a mall (of all places) on our anniversary and I saw it. Used the anniversary as an excuse to get it!

i am wondering if i can use the "black mirror' that TV screens have when turned off. unless for whatever reason is not a good idea since its connected to electricity. but if I understood the first half of the video correctly, you want something where the vision is not 100 percent reflect-able so that you train yourself to see things that are not easily visible?
I think there's nothing wrong with it except you won't be able to charge it up for the purpose (unless you decide to never watch television ever again). With a small picture frame and the glass painted glass it's pretty portable and you can charge it up directly for the purpose and even wrap it in silk to keep the charge when it's not in use (can't see you doing that with a tv screen). In an emergency situation, however, anything (in my opinion) will do!
I tend to prefer a large glass vase with water in it... then light with candles. I have just recently started scrying in front of people and verbalizing what I see... it is very different from doing it on my own.
There are any number of techniques to choose from for sure. Always good to hear another variation. And I imagine that it's different when you have other people's thoughts, emotions and presence in the mix than when you are on your own.

Hello, very nice video, I was wondering about having audio with the visions meaning clairaudience, this method of connecting with the spirit world is amazing, also I was wondering about how big/large the visions can get, sometime when I'm reading a magazine the images come alive like watching a movie or animation, Divine Blessings from MysticOz in London U.K
Images can sometimes be large enough to fill up a part of the sky for me, so I don't think visions are limited by such things. And definitely hearing what's going on would be in the clairaudience category. Most of the clairs overlap in any given experience...at least that's how it's been for me! Blessed be!
Madam Siofra, when you do your scrying , to you do any protection spells or use any herbs, crystals, ect. before you began? What would you suggest for a beginner?
I don't do anything in particular to protect myself at this point probably because I do shielding and grounding on a daily basis and my aura is quite strong. Nothing can get in without my permission. If you are concerned about what might happen I recommend calling on either the deities you are working with or your personal guardian spirit to make sure that nothing untoward takes place and that you are well protected. You can also draw a circle and call in the elements to maintain your space and make it a more serious endeavor (never a bad idea). When I scry in our Temple I am automatically protected by the many hundreds of circles that we have cast there over the years and the fact that it is a sacred space used for doing magic or teaching about the subject.
Nothing comes to mind. I have occasionally had what sounded like crows cawing in the middle of the night and took it as a warning. Of course I feed the crows in my neighborhood (have for a number of years now...my winter flock is up to 90 individuals, summer is about 30 or so) and they are one of my animal spirit friends.

You asked in response to scrying experiments and knocking and rapping do not happen for me. I hear words, see images, have feelings and sometimes will have a presence. I believe in science however and will also look to explain my experiences in that light first before I jump to the conclusion that it is something unknowable or unexplainable. According to Bardon having knocking and rapping is an indication that you are not doing it correctly and are, in fact, incompetent. I think that whatever works for you is the right color and if you are drawn to cobalt blue (which is a wonderful color in my opinion as well) there's no reason not to. I don't know that it matters as much what we use when we scry, just that it inspires our imagination and fits our mental picture of what it should be.

We don't have any universal condenser for sale at the moment. Bardon's recipe for it is in one of his books (I think it's Magical Evocation, but I'll have to check). Can dig it out and send it to you. It takes a lot of time to gather together the ingredients and we're in the middle of some construction right now. You can certainly cover them if they worry you or you could use the invoking earth pentagram and seal them so nothing can use it as a portal. Instructions on that are in the video ghost proofing your house.
I try and blank my mind and stay in a neutral mindset and pay attention to what comes up or what I see. Sometimes things will come to me as needed, especially in my dreams.

I am a bit confused about the saying witches should not use metals in their spellwork but isn't cast iron a metal and it makes up a caldron and a athame or althame is a knife and it is made of metal too so wouldn't these things be considered metal? Wouldn't they affect your spell work if used? It's sort of contridiction if you think about it...
I have never heard it said that witches shouldn't use metal so I don't know what culture that might come from or why it would have been thought to be true because yes, cast iron is a metal and that's what most of my cauldrons are made of and I have a brass one as well, and my athame is definitely metal. I have heard people say you shouldn't use metal when working with the fae because it is toxic to them, although I don't know if that has any merit to it or not (as far as the fae themselves are concerned).

sometimes when my eyes are closed i get very clear but brief images of people and places, is it possible the backs of our eyelids are even a medium for scrying?
I see a lot of things more clearly with my eyes closed. My theory is that I am seeing with my astral vision (in the case of seeing a spirit being that's standing right in front of me) or clairvoyant vision when seeing something far away. In a sense that is what scrying is...a practice to improve your clairvoyant abilities, so...yes?

When I was meditating, I saw green hands holding a crystal ball. After that, I became interested in incorporating a crystal ball into my spiritual practice. I have noticed that my abilities have improved as I have been able to see things clearly on two occasions. Usually, I see trees, but I also see things like animals or faces on walls and carpets. I don't quite understand what this means.
Seeing human or animal shapes in inanimate objects is often pareidolia which can be interesting or crazy making depending on how much you focus on it. Remember that our perceptions of reality around us is colored by our assumptions, our life experiences, our belief systems and more. Discernment is a necessary skill to acquire. Experience will help you to start to differentiate between levels of importance.
The story of the besom says that you should always store it bristle up or your luck will run out. It also makes sense as a method to just store any broom (not just a magical one) because that way the bristles aren't damaged and get that annoying curve they get.

The face disappearing to be replaced by darkness is the precursor to either seeing other faces that may have been yours (reincarnation) or having a vision of the future. It's an intermediary step. Keep going.

Question is I'm trying a lot of trouble with the black obsidian mirror do you have any visualization techniques? Thank you very much in advance according to google translate. There are a number of visualization techniques that I've talked about. Softening the gaze so your eyes aren't too focused on the physical can help. You can practice trying to let the world disappear with your eyes open (something I do). You can also do it with your eyes closed and use the holding of the mirror as an energy focus but do the visualizations with your inner vision. You can watch the trees and focus on the shadow and light patterns and not the details of the leaves.
That's going to depend on you. For herbs they recommend mugwort to increase your dreams, a tea of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme is suppose to be a good scrying tea. Lavender has a calm and relaxing effect. The main thing you need is a calm and quiet mind. So practicing meditation does not necessarily require any external stimulus. You might try soothing music, bells, a candle to help you focus...you'll need to experiment and see what works for you.
Scrying, if you are good at it, can help you to navigate the potential roadblocks that will undoubtedly come your way, since there is always something that go as you expect.
That would be one word to describe it though it's not a full on trance in that I am aware of my surroundings. In a semi-dream state I can see images and would suspect my eyes would be making those rapid eye movements like you do when you are fully asleep and dreaming.
Not sure what to recommend. Seeing potential futures is just that...a potential. Sometimes it's something you can avoid, sometimes it's an inevitability. I think that knowledge and information always can give you a head's up, so just remember that "seeing" it doesn't mean that it will become actualized. Especially in the beginning. It's more about getting to know the workings of your own mind and starting to separate out good information from garbage. If you're uncomfortable with it I would recommend doing something else first...like meditate, do shadow work, ground in nature, get connected to yourself.
Whenever you are entering into an altered state of consciousness feeling sleepy can be one of the signs, so that would be a yes. The trick is to stay alert in that state, which takes practice.
I have a black mirror made from natural obsidian. I found the piece on a mountain of the stuff during a trip and hand polished it (which wasn't easy). It works great. I don't think I use it for evocational work (which is what summoning magic is). Evocations are much more specific and precise to the type of being you are attempting to contact and manifest.
You can do either or both. I have the obsidian mirror that I made (which is a piece of natural obsidian) and we have mirrors we've made using a small frame and painting the glass black. Those mirrors are quite flexible and you can have them projecting a specific energy into a room (for example we have one that just puts out healing energy in our living room).
No. They are both fine. Depends on what you have available. Frames are inexpensive, obsidian is not (unless you happen to know where you can pick some up that's relatively flat already). Also how much time you want to spend. It took quite awhile for me to polish my piece.
Depending upon your ability yes, it could work. Often people have better luck with creating a special setting which can include making your own dedicated mirror, which is fairly simple to do. Just paint the glass black and put it back in the frame (paint side in) and you have a magic mirror that you can use and charge up. Don't think you can charge up your phone as a magical object.
People make wishes all the time that don't happen. Generally you need to do the work to be ready to receive something. When you are aligned with yourself and the universe what you need will come but it is still up to you to pay attention to what the universe is communicating to you and whether what you think you want is what you actually need. Magic isn't a "make an order and the universe will deliver" system. It's a "self-development take responsibility for your own stuff and come into more alignment with the true nature of the universe" system. It also will not just cooperate with your wants and desires that might go against someone else's free will. Example: If you want to get a job you don't just say, "Universe, give me a job." You have to train and acquire the skills to be able to perform the job, you have to put out applications to places who have job openings for what you are interested in or who are actively recruiting to train people, then go to an interview (or three, depending on the type of job) and suitably impress your perspective employer that you have the skills they are looking for and have the potential to contribute to the company overall. Take what you wished for and break it down into steps. Make sure it isn't something that requires you to coerce someone else into doing something just because you want them to. Then work on yourself and pay attention to the signs.
