Yup! I've seen most of these. I'd like to add one. The "I never get cold" diver. I got "insta-buddied" in Hawaii (73F water) with a fellow that dove Puget Sound (46F) a lot. He's saying "73 degree water, that's great!! Hits the water in shorts and a T-shirt. On surface interval, he was blue. Much to my surprise, he did a second dive. On the trip back to dock, he was shivering uncontrollably. Thought he was going to go into convulsions. All he needed was 3mm to save his day.
@harkonen1000000

That's about 22°C, which is on the cold side for normal swimming on the surface.
@deroffi1572
@deroffi1572 2 года назад
I've been snorkeling and a bit of free diving in water that cold two weeks ago. Usually spent 30-60 minutes in the water and it was not comfy with just shorts. I did shiver quite a bit after some sessions and. My worst dive however was 35 minutes at 25m and 16°C (61°F) in just a rash guard. 0/10 would not recommend. And I guess it's not totally safe either. 😬 So yeah, I'm that guy.

This is so accurate 😂 I just loved the brand new rescue diver 😂😂😂😂 I would personally add two more stereotypes: - The ultimate bladder: no matter how many times he pees before the dive, he always has to pee at the end of the dive and everyone has to turn their head to the other side - The overprotective: the diver who takes TOO MUCH care of his scuba gear (usually the most expensive). He is always checking new gear arrivals at the store 😂
@MassitaTonolli
@MassitaTonolli 2 года назад
I am the ultimate bladder. It is so funny, because I do need to go to the bathroom before and after dives! And people (costumers) ask me why I can't pee on my wetsuit. I reply that I don't like to work smelling like pee, everyday - but if they pay the rental of my boss wetsuit, than I would be glad to do #1 or even #2 on the wetsuit... haha - Costumers: please, do not attempt this, any dive pro will need to clean this mess later... haha Problably me... lol

I almost got killed during my one and only certification dive by my air guzzler dive partner in a Pennsylvania quarry, a mere 30 feet (9m) down, in 1992. After some amount of time, my partner and high school friend gave me the out-of air-signal. I looked at my air gauge and had about 2/3 capacity, so I assumed that my partner -- a suave dude but also an inveterate goof -- was joking. I waved at him as if to say, "Pshaw, partner dude" and turned around thinking "Don't joke about that stuff, man". Immediately, he grabbed my arm, spun me around and produced a very urgent and intense out-out-air signal. I looked at his gage. Yup. He was bone dry. So, I siddled up, grabbed the top of his tank with my left hand and carefully removed my regulator, guiding it toward his mouth. Before it got there, my partner grabbed it in a panic, slammed it in like Maggie Simpson and started breathing like a humming bird. Five seconds, ten seconds, fifteen seconds. Ok, partner dude let's pass that... and he just let the regulator go. It floated behind me a got wedged between my tank and BC. The visibility in the quarry that day was 10 feet. Fifteen tops. I couldn't find it, spinning around like a dog chasing his tail. Then I began to panic myself; suddenly I was met by a relentless urge to open my mouth and breathe in. Wantonly, greedily, I inflated my vest and rocketed to the surface like an ICBM. I would be shocked if my waist didn't clear the water. Safe and sound, I tilted my head back and just floated there for a few seconds, breathing hard, until it dawned on me that I didn't grab my partner before I flooded the BC. I found my regulator and popped it back in, but before I could initiate my first diving rescue (on my first real dive), my partner's head slowly breached the surface. After a few desperate breaths, he too tilted his head back and began to just float. "You bastard," he croaked. "You.. you left me down there to die." As the rest of him floated upwards into a partial backstroke pose, I spotted something around his waist. "You didn't drop your weights?" I asked. He felt around his middle clumsily until he felt it. "Oh", he said. "Oh yeah." Unlike my partner, however, all the capillaries in my eyes had burst. Four months later the two of us , wholly certified now, dove Blue Grotto all the way to the 100 -foot bottom (30m). I'm pretty sure that neither of us did a deco stop when we went up. It was our second and, for me, my second-to-last real dive.

Missing: The storyteller: always tells a story from an alleged badass technical dive, usually on a recreational reef dive, nobody cares, he still keeps going. The commando: three different knives, tech fins, shears, and a camo drysuit/hood, usually on a 70ft deep wreck without penetration. The instabuddy tag-along: "hey guys, do you mind if I join the two of you this dive? Just in case, just do your thing". Always does weird stuff underwater that can't be ignored and completely changes the dive.

Thank you David! We are definitely trying to mix things up, we never know how people will react to original content but this one seems to be well received by most people who watched it.

Hahha excellently executed you guys, very funny. You know what? Never dived, never even dip a toe into the water, but after following your channel for about 6 weeks now, I got the humour, as you guys explain things so well, I was able to follow it. All very funny ☺️👍🏻

Same here, never been scuba diving, never even considered it. In fact before I started watching these videos I straight up *hated* the ocean and deep water, let alone the idea of cave diving. And yet now I‘m starting to feel a strange yearning to learn how to cave dive and to experience some of the wonder that Gus and Woody have so beautifully expressed in these videos. I’m not afraid of it like I was before, just curious.

@@sfdntk I enjoy the underwater videos but have claustrophobia and the thought of having my head under water = panic, so very happy just to support these guys and watch their videos ☺️

2:05 hahaha I got certified today with my friend, and while we were on the surface every 20 seconds I would hear SSSSSSSSSS and look over, and he’s panicking with his regulator.

I can say that down in south Florida we very rarely get asked if we are wreck certified. Most of my buddies would laugh, however we are all spearo so we are a different breed than the more precise cautious divers.

Here's an extra one one of my dive masters use on their boat: "Bungee Diver". The guy who forgets to remove the bungee chord from the tank before putting all his gear on and ends up struck to the bench.
