Our crew member Mox, is still aboard, helping us bring the boat from Cabo San Lucas to Puerto Vallarta. We stop at Isla Isabela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the bird life, whale life, and underwater life is out of this world!

Just did this trip 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately it was after a big northerly and was wicked stirred up with no visibility. Hiking was good though. But the thing I wanted to warn you about was that we got robbed at gunpoint in the middle of the night at Matanchen Bay over on the mainland side. They pistol-whipped two of us and stole the dinghy and outboard. Apparently the authorities have recovered the dinghy and outboard, but I’m not sure about the criminals. I would NOT recommend stopping at Matanchen Bay (San Blas.) Be safe.

The diving looks really excellent, but you brought your own boat and gear. Do you have any idea about how a landlubber would find a dive boat to take us here? We are visiting Mazatlan in April 2024 for the eclipse and hoping to dive. The stuff directly around Mazatlan doesn't look that great, and we're trying to avoid having to go all the way to Puerto Vallarta for a day trip.

I believe there’s eco dive tours that do trips from San Blas? If you google dive charter isla isabel you should be able to find some info. I had researched it before when I saw a dive boat there, but I forget the name of the company now

Gonna be hard to top this episode. It was beautifully shot and edited and the drone shots of whales could be an episode alone. Add in boobies and diving and the beauty of the island and this episode is epic. The plus of swimming that far south is you don't need a wet suit......however the price is a jellyfish sting once in awhile. Hope the pain went away quickly. Did the birds try to fight the drone?

Thank you Ron, that means a lot! The jellyfish sting really hurt for about an hour but then it went away and I learned my lesson and wore pants haha! The birds would swoop around it but didn’t make any attacks! Mox said he kept the drone moving and they seemed to not care unless it was just hovering. Thanks again Ron!

How have y'all found Starlink's service on the water and off the Mexican vs USA coast?

We waited to buy starlink until we got to Mexico because it’s significantly cheaper for the dish and monthly feeds than if we were to buy it in Canada or states. Mexico has been great! We’ve used it while underway in swell, at anchorage and in the marina. I’ve been super impressed with the speed. I think it’s gotten slower than when we had it along the Baja but I think that also has to do with the fact that we are in a busy area now with a lot of boats with starlink
