I love how you sculpt the deterioration of the human form by adding clay to the model. I got a real kick out of that.

Beautiful, and informative. Thank you so much! Me? I'm glad I'm aging. More interesting features to discover than on a smooth, young, face, and also more exciting to find out how one can work on oneself so as to enjoy growing old. Don't fret. It's not that bad ... :) I actually enjoy it.

This music and Philippe Faraut's amazing ability to capture the the human body in clay go well together. It becomes less of watching an incredible talent, but more of watching ourselves grow old. This is an incredible, INCREDIBLE talent from both artists in his way. This video makes me miss the youth I had, appreciate the age I have now, and hope that I can be at the same level of peace in an age I've yet to encounter. Bravo.

the difference between sculpting digitally and sculpting physically, is CTRL+Z. That's it. The undo button. To sculpt in either, you need skill. The computer isn't doing any work for you like some idiots like to think. If you want proof of that, just download the demo version of one of them and see what amazing things you can't come up with due to your lack of skill. Physical and Digital sculpting go hand in hand.

@CaptScruffywhiskers Actually I think it's THE only lovely thing about it. This is hard to teach and someone like him is one and a million people. My personal favorite thing about sculpting is that you can use and reuse clay over and over again as long as it doesn't dry up. You can't do that with a painting or a drawing. It's classic too. Sculpting with clay will never go out of style.

@ffles I agree completely. I do a lot of different forms of art, both traditional and digital, but people who see my digital art think that I don't have to use effort to make the stuff I do. If making thing digitally were that easy, it wouldn't be considered art. Hopefully some of those people will catch on...

@CaptScruffywhiskers using computer programs or cgi still requires multiple layers of talent and skill. it requires being able to picture something and to make it appear 3d in a 2d space.

Even though I agree that neither method is easy, physically (I think) is a lot harder due to the fact that you must also use your muscles, get exhausted and so on. Also, the rewarding feeling afterwards, for me at least, is greater.
@Xplorer228
@Xplorer228 11 лет назад
Yes they both require a great deal of skill, but the computer DOES do a lot work for you other than just CTRL+Z. With traditional sculpting you can add or subtract or push. With digital you can do these things but WAY faster (with the click of a button) and you can warp, inflate, pull (you cannot stretch clay). Even if you just used traditional type tools in zbrush you could still do only half the work by turning on symmetry. Of course there are many advantages to traditional sculpting as well.
