I am so excited about this book about sculpting with cardboard it that I had to let you know about it. It is written for students, but older artists will enjoy the projects, too. And you don't have to stop with just cardboard - the shapes he shows us how to make would also make great forms for paper mache.
The "Art Shaped" book can be found here on amazon.com: amzn.to/46I24Ts
The "Paper Sculpture" book that I recommend for younger artists can be found here: amzn.to/476TtJN
And if you want to stick with paper mache, you can find my book, "Make Animal Sculptures with Paper Mache Clay" here: amzn.to/3FBeCAk
Darrell Wakelam's RU-vid Channel: / @darrellwakelam5597
Those are all affiliate links, of course, but you can search for them if you want to. I also included some other resources for sculpting with cardboard, including a link to an inexpensive online course, in my latest weekly newsletter. You can see it (and sign up for the newsletter) here: www.ultimatepapermache.com/ne...

Hi Jonni, this is so lovely of you. It always amazes me the kindness of people online, especially when it's out of the blue. I am very flattered that someone with your obvious expertise and experience would see the value in what I do. I've been creating 3D sculptures with children now for over 30 years, and it's still something I do (and share) daily. All of the little tricks and ideas that have evolved along the way are what I've tried to explore and share in 'Art Shaped'. It's really aimed at adults, educators, artists, mum's and dad's, who are working creatively with children, but as you say here in your clip, it's also accessible for children too, and the ideas themselves are ones that I use, in a simplified form, right down to Reception classes (4/5 year olds) . . . Anyway, thank you again, I think we share a passion. 🤩

When I was a kid I never met a cerial box I couldn't find 'something' in . I made slipper with layers, doll house furniture, cap brims, even a crucifix garnished with split lentils then painted !

My gran taught me to crochet and knit and hand sew from the age of six. She made over 40 crochet blankets in her lifetime and used to make table lamps gluing chunks of cristal type resin reclamed from a local factory, onto large odd bottles and gave them to young couples as wedding gifts. My father could do anything with his hands including painting and mum embroidered and wallpapered and made little stools and knitted all our sweaters. I used to dress mum and my sister and much of the family and neighbors which made me enough money to buy my own clothes from the age of 14 when she bought me my first sewing machine. I am continually making things. At the moment I am painting and patinating furniture and yesterday made a huge mirror with spray mirror paint quite lightly and laid some antique wallpaper behind the glass so it shows like a ghost. I have yet to do papier maché but I have plenty of ideas for next year. xoxo@@UltimatePaperMache

Fantastic, this is the thing, lots of us do this as children, and then it slowly disappears for most. And yet it's such an accessible and affordable option. I have spent my entire career making stuff like this as relevant to children now as I can. I've had a lot of fun. 😁

Every time I watch one of your videos I just want to jump and create something magic. Came to the states in 1986 when I was 21 to paint and create figurative sculptures. I was about a year to finish my bachelor degree in my country when I came here (Mass Communication) that never happened. Now I’ve been happily married for 30 years next January with two children and ask me how much art I created. Please don’t..! Janitor and carpenter forever. Building a summer house since about 12 years in the middle of the woods here in Gainesville Georgia with a “swimming pool” under the house and about to finish. Crazy but it’s been a community project with happy neighbors. BUT if you ask me I’ll give anything and go back in time just to finish at least one sculpture. ONE AT LEAST. I still good at it. You still our inspiration every time we see you. Your voice and behavior is so soothing. Keep your beautiful videos coming!!!

You can make some amazing things out of cardboard! This guy make sculptures that are way out of my league, but still fun to look at: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M_lblGpBQWE.htmlsi=6pjADpivi99M03B4

I love these recommendations. Might you have another link for the paper sculpture book? It’s currently listed at $106. Yikes 😮

We might just have to wait a few weeks until the price goes back down. I ordered my copy a few weeks ago from amazon.co.uk (it should arrive tomorrow) for £8.23. Today they're charging £69.94. I don't know who sets the prices, but it's out of print so sellers can charge anything they want. It's a great book, so you might want to put it on your list and check back later, when they come to their senses. 😊
