Damn they still living off his name? In 200 years will his descendents still claim? Exactly the one thing he didn't want to be was an idol... The guy was a Protestant Christian 😂 he was against statues and idols... I guarantee he would break that idol if he were here today and call y'all sick and lost and tell you only one worthy of praised and worship is God (the ONE GOD)
Strangeness You can't tell WHAT it is. It DOESNT represent "hugs and love" for sure if you're standing there trying to figure out WHAT it is. The artist missed the mark on this one. Too much money for too little return.
Imagine 100000 years into the future imagine people in the future reburied and saw this underground? Ohh though I totally think statue won’t even survive into a 10000 years in the future, thank heavens
All these confedrate statures sculptured beautifully, and they picked this of all the talented sculptures, did they even ask the king famiky, his name wasnt King for nothing, even royalty has full statutes, this should of been the full statues with their hug & in bronze 0r gold, bc they represented not only blacks but other injustices of people all over. I hope they reconsider and finish this, bc they have talent but the sculpture stature need finishing!!!!!!!
Someone should make a sculpture commemorating a crowd of people taking photos at a public art unveiling... and then, take a photo during the unveiling.
What I find cruel is that while historical statues are being torn down, there are statues that look like genitalia that being made and put in public places. There’s the MLK statue in Boston. About a month ago Matt did a video about how a town made a monument to AIDS victims that looks like for lack of a better term an anus. Let that sink in. How long will it be when other pieces of art that have nothing to do with history are torn down or repainted are replaced with something disgusting?
When people put up these statues or tributes to anyone they should really look from all angles what they actually look like this thing looks atrocious from certain angles
Did no one get to see like drafts or mock-ups of this before hand? I can't imagine that getting funded if it had to go through approval or a committee or something. Unless someone is friends and/or getting kick backs.

This sculpture is terrible. As someone who literally CREATES THINGS as creative pieces, this holds no value. There isn't even anything deeper about the statue, let alone knowing it's about MLK until someone tells you.
Do you know the king family they get money every time and statues on Vail because they actually have to be paid for the licensing of his face is ridiculous

Maybe it’ll look better after I’ve had several drinks. Joking aside I’m genuinely disappointed. Such a great man and such a cringeworthy statue that totally fails in honoring him.
