I would like for anyone learning Italian to take this particular lesson seriously. If you are in Italy, you will find yourself apologizing or excusing yourself often. When you realize that you've been accidentally rude by using the informal with a little old lady in the supermarket or you've been overly stiff and formal with your friends at the bar... it's not a great feeling. Great topics, Katie & Matteo! Keep them coming!

how strict this rule is? Here in Serbia we have similar polite/informal ways but in most cases people will not be super bothered if I use informal talk to adult stranger (unless I am addressing to quite old people in which case it will be just weird)

In Italy recently, strangers younger than me used scusa to me. I felt it was wrong and they either weren't native speakers or maleducati or I hadn't heard the latest trend of not using the formal form. Your video showed me I am right and they should have said scusi.

Ad essere precisi, sì, è un congiuntivo esortativo, ma spesso anche nei manuali di italiano come lingua straniera o seconda viene chiamato "imperativo formale" in quanto più comprensibile a degli studenti stranieri. 😉

Calpesto il piede di una donna perché non vedo dove sto andando. Poi dico: "Oh, scusi!" 3) Sono in un bar. Сi sono molte persone qui. Mi avvicino ad un gruppo di persone sedute ad un tavolo.
