Hey! thats my design on thiniverse! im really glad to see some people getting use out of it! it was insane to see something so small only avalable on shapeways so i decided to draw it up since i had the ability to. my main goal with it was to add some room for high clearance setups to work with lots of flex. the added climbing angle helps too! great vid! Ill be sending you out some of my "McCue RC Mantis High Clearance Links Steering Behind Axle Kit" soon!

Just to toss an idea out there, if you like this aesthetic. The satin black on that body looks awesome. Would be cool to take a fine gold Sharpie or paint marker (Or 3-hair brush and paint if you're rea lgood....) and pinstripe it out. Sort of like old big iron machines like steel mill powder hammers or factory machines. Would be kinda cool having the mix of the newest tech 3d printing with that vintage tech machine look. Just a thought. :)

I like the printed body!! I am thinking about getting a 3d printer are you using pla or abs? And what printer are you using?
@2fmrc
@2fmrc 2 года назад
I used pla on this one. Using the Ender 3 V2. I’ve had great luck with that printer. I now also have the Ender 3 S1 and a resin printer. The resin is insanely smooth and detail is amazing but things made on it are kinda fragile. The v2 blows the S1 out of the water for me. It’s so much more consistent and just works better. I use the S1 to print flexible material like the ninja flex for anti foams for my 1/10s etc but other than that I don’t even use it. amzn.to/3b2pU4Q

@@2fmrc Good stuff man! Thank you! I been looking at many printers I might just go with the ender v2 !
@2fmrc
@2fmrc 2 года назад
@@backyardr.c.channel4732 it definitely takes some getting used to and trial and error. I was so ticked at first that I couldn’t get a good print I almost gave up on it. But once it’s dialed in it’s more consistent than my S1. That thing will print perfect one print and garbage the next lol. The v2 once it’s leveled and good to go I can print for wks without messing with it again. The resin printer definitely is the easiest to set up and go and hardly ever has any failed prints but the parts are pretty fragile.

I'm so frustrated. I got the scx24 and ran it stock and absolutely loved it. Then I started seeing all the upgrades, and started buying parts. Spent a bunch of money, and nothing works. All these youtubers show these parts supposedly just bolted on, and their rig performing so well afterward, but I buy a recommended servo and a bracket, bolt it on, nope. Servo flanges hit the frame, don't work. In the bin. Buy telescoping shocks, bolt them on, add some spacers to get them out from the chassis a bit, try it, nope. Suspension don't work anymore, everything binds up. Buy high clearance links, bolt them on, everything seems grand, get the body back on and try it all out - nope, suspension don't work now. Interface everywhere. I just wish more youtubers were honest about stuff. All these parts probably work fine on a full custom build, built around them, but do what they pretended to do in a video? No way. They edit out all the frustration and extra work to trim the chassis, polish all the pieces of those shocks to get them to not bind, do whatever to address all those interference issues, etc, to make it look like they just bolted it on and crawled over Moab. Not possible.
@2fmrc
@2fmrc 2 года назад
If you don’t like to customize your trucks and work with them to get things working then I’d suggest another hobby honestly. Should of been around when there were no aftermarket parts even made for these things and we were bolting up anything and everything we could find that was even close to the size of these trucks. That took some work! These bolt ons are simple but yeah they do require a little set up. I kinda figure that’s a given if you really want performance. Most things are pretty simple with these little guys for me though. I usually try to address any issues I come across (in my servo swap vid I think I even mention I cut the tabs off to clear the frame) it’s not something I always do though. Just if it’s hitting because of the links (wheelbase) I’m using etc but my truck is different from every single other persons out there so if I don’t have the same issue as you I can’t address it.
@soundmindtv2911
@soundmindtv2911 2 года назад
@@2fmrc don't get me wrong, I'm not dogging on you. I'm just venting. The servo in question was an ecopower, can't remember who recommended it now. It's definitely something for a custom chassis, not a bolt-in deal. Sticks out far enough that it needs a lot of mods to make it fit, including ditching the front bumper (jeep jlu) I know it's just accepted that if you upgrade anything you need to do a ton of work sometimes to make it work. I just wish the other youtubers wouldn't minimize that, because there are several channels where they act like they just bolted something on and hit the trail, when it actually turns out to be an all-day project. Peace, my brother - you're doing great work with this channel, and I greatly appreciate it. Just wish I had found your channel first, before some of the others 😂 This trend goes in all genres, too, not just RC. From camera gear to DJ gear to RC to automotive to investing. This is the age we live in now, I guess.

Why does the front left lift up like that in an incline, ive seen a lot of people where this happens. Can you prevent this from happening?
@garrettladelle7793
@garrettladelle7793 2 года назад
Touque of the motor and worm gear axles. The rear end drives closer to the front, shortening the wheelbase and raising the ride hight and that makes it easier for the motor to torque the chassis in the direction that lifts the front left wheel. Overdrive front worm gear set will prevent it. It makes the the front wheels spin slightly faster than the rear to keep the wheelbase stretched out

Perhaps I missed something, but I’m not sure you actually proved anything because you didn’t run the first vehicle w/o riser at the steeper angle. It doesn’t seem like the first vehicle was at its limit on the one and only run you showed.
@2fmrc
@2fmrc Год назад
It wouldn’t run any steeper without the riser. I tried before shooting. It was basically maxed at that point. That’s why I started there. They don’t really do much of anything honestly. Maybe a tiny improvement but not anything amazing imo. I’d rather have a chassis with upper link mounting positions to make adjustments than a link riser.
