A man with one clock knows what time it is. A man with two clocks is never sure. A man with one meter knows what the voltage is. A man with two meters is never sure. 😁

But with three meters, you have a reasonable level of confidence if (at least) two of them read the same. Although you COULD be unlucky that the two meters have experienced identical drift, and it is the third meter that shows the good/best reading. Mind you, a good reference that has been aged for 10+ years seems to drift very little (as my 34401A and 3458A has shown)

Been using the 3055 for a month now. It is surprisingly good at a reasonable price point. I think these are well designed and built, which is quite far off from their previous products. I also got their new linear 4-channel power supply. It was very reasonable in price as well. Love their new direction with these new generation of products - 5.5 & 6.5 multimeters and the linear power supplies.

Certainly the 3065 looks to be a Keysight 34461A on a budget, half the price!......depending on which of the five 3065 models you buy! A shame about the voltage reference in the 3065 but if used in a stable, well controlled temp/humidity environment it probably won't be that bad (aging aside)......and I guess you can't really complain at that price. How repeatable/stable the 6.5 digits is would be fun to see.

Ive had really bad experience with 2 equipments from Hantek in the past. One was a scope that would crash, not trigger properly and had around 10% error on the vertical scale (and each day it was somehow different). All of those issues were confirmed by me and 2 other engineers in the lab, just to make sure it was not an operator error. Also the UI was really unintuitive and slow the display would flicker when someone was making coffee When i wrote to customer support about those issues they answered "well the sample we have in our office does not have those problems" and they stopped answering. The other was a current probe. That one was working whenever it wanted to work. After i re-soldered all the components it became a bit more stable. I added some decoupling caps and it did work diecently after that. For the price it was still not worth it. If they have started to actually design and manufacture diecent stuff i may even consider them at some point. May be worth to keep an eye on them. Keep up the good work at bringing light to affordable equipment. I hope this one is as good as it looks at first glance.

Not that I know what's going on - lol -, but what do you do with the code when the FPGA goes wrong. Other stuff you reprogram the bios or a ROM - usually with something off another unit -, but where does the code for the FPGA reside. From memory there is code to set the gates, another for the actual program, and they get loaded when it starts, so if it goes wrong does the whole unit end up in the bin as unrepairable.

one thing that I don't like is the diode test, I have a t-Unit UT181A, which gives a short beep when the diode is ok, when it is in short it gives a continuous beep, and when I open it, it does not beep. the hantek only beeps when it is within the diode range, if it is shorted it does not beep. if you are looking at the circuit you will not know if the diode is shorted or open, just by the beep, you have to keep looking at the screen.
@antibrevity
@antibrevity 2 года назад
I suggest wiping the stock probes with IPA before doing your first continuity test as they always seem to have a layer of something on them. Once wiped, they generally perform just as well as gold-plated probes. If fast response is important for a particular task, it may also be worth doing the IPA wipe before future use as well, but I wouldn't bother doing this every time.

I've seen videos on the internet that basically show what you explain, and there may be some truth to that. However, I've literally used the most disgusting and insufficient wiring as makeshift multimeter probes with my Fluke 87V and have never experienced any issues checking continuity down a chip that required a microscope to view and not have never had to slow down because my equipment couldn't keep up with me. We're talking probes covered in lanolin, cosmoline, bearing grease, engine oil, transmission fluid, dielectric grease, snow, ice, DOT 3/4. You name it, I've probably inserted a probe into it to check continuity. I'd be very interested to understand why my 87V doesn't care about anything yet the XXX3055 I just ordered is so selectively inept.

Interesting that they chose to use a SATA cable for the connection to the serial interface board. I wonder why? Is the RS232 on a different pair of pins to the RS485? In that case, perhaps a SATA cable happened to be a convenient off-the-shelf shielded dual pair cable.

And since the 3065 is "only" about a 100 bucks more compared to the 3055, maybe it would be a good idea to go straight for that one as it seems to have some better components? I'll never need the additional digit, even 5.5 is a bit overkill for my needs.. but this seems to be nice, fancy-ish and affordable? But yes as Ja Ro stated the interface is amazing, also you can write 'scripts' for it which is kind of interesting, But most of all it has proven to be a solid device for me. Well worth the money. The readings are really fast, I always use this as an example. You can actually see (in resistance mode) that a pot is noisy because the readings jump around erratically.

Wait what? I haven't watched this completely yet but I'm already baffled. The housing and the UI are a clear rip-off from Keysight devices, so far - so obvious. But the calibration certificate brings this to a whole new level. Not only is the font and the layout a 1:1 copy - even the texts are the same. If you look at it closely at 3:11 it even says "Keysight Technologies" at least three times. Even the equipment numbers are the same as the ones on the real Keysight certificates.

Chinese manufacturer copying the design of an established brand? I'm shocked! 😛

@@JohnDoe4321 Well, it's not like it would surprise me that the copied almost everything. But I'm surprised that they've been so lazy that they didn't even bother to replace those texts. Wouldn't be surprised if the signature is also just a copy of an original Keysight one. Honestly i'd be surprised if this thing ever came in contact with a Fluke 5520A during "calibriation" (if there ever was one).

If you look on ebay you can find all the latest keysight (and others) for sale from china (seals broken). The chinese have no concept of copyright laws. We really should not be doing business with them.
@mortenhattesen
@mortenhattesen 2 года назад
@@RS-ls7mm copying a design and look-and-feel is not necessarily illegal. There is no such thing as copyright laws for design as you seem to think. It is Patents that protect design and technology, and restrict what you are allowed to copy (without a license), and those patents are only valid/enforcable for the countries where they are registered.

The fuses say it all 'HOLLY' you better Pray! that Keysight don't! do an Apple & take you to court, for clearly ripping a design off, further insult is the voltage references!! I bet you left the screen protectors on for a' RU-vid short peel 'Oh Yeah' in a deep sexy voice 😂🤣👍🏻

I'll take off the screen protectors once I find a place in the lab for them to sit. I have a big pile of stuff on the floor which needs a place on my bench!

I know Steve! I was just kidding, I know you'll do the right thing. I know how that goes too! I was looking at a bunch of items last-night thinking, I'll find a place tomorrow but.. it's still sitting there looking pretty, waiting for its new slot. I ponder a lot! why do I keep all this & how, do I manage to find a way of squeezing it in, every time I buy! The mind boggles but we keep doing it :)

Nice construction but a joke of voltage references!

Nice meter, I’d still chose a 34401A if even slightly more expensive because this things just never die, but if I wanted a UI/USB connectivity this is very valid.

They should change the "Design in China" to "Copied in China" blatant rip off of Keysight. Saying that I was tempted and the first thing I would have done is replace whatever crappy electrolytics they use for Nichicons but then I saw chip number scrubbing and that finished my interest, I refuse to support manufacturers who practice this. What are they scared someone will copy their copy of Keysight 🤣🤣🤣

Looks to me siglent is a step up. Won’t be buying one of these, think I’ll just go for the Agilent. Cheap piece of crap.

Unbelievable how Hantek copied the Keysight UI design! Just nothing they designed new! Siglent is doing the same. I think this is IP thieft. Look how Keithley develops their own UI design - completely unique one!
