Part One:
Reflecting upon the guidance you have received in the lectures for this course, you will demonstrate your knowledge in performing trigger work in the 1911 by responding to the following prompts:
You will analyze when trigger work is necessary or should be performed and when it should not be performed.
You will discuss what constitutes improper trigger work, the problems that can occur, and how they can be avoided.
After disassembling your firearm, you will demonstrate how you can analyze the fitment/interaction of specific components of the 1911 fire control group (FCG).
You will discuss specific components, angles, surfaces, tensions, and dimensions that can be altered to improve the trigger feel and safety in the 1911 platform.
You will identify and describe aftermarket tools/jigs that can be used to make trigger work easier and analyze when these tools are essential and when they are not.
Part Two:
Following the guidance you received, deburr the trigger track and smooth the sides of the trigger bow.
Part Three:
Perform a dry and dummy round function check.
Part Four
Identify the top three alterations you may consider making to your 1911 in the future and articulate for your instructor why you chose these three. Your choices do not need to be based on the alterations addressed in the lecture. Conduct your own research and identify any more that may exist.
