Okay, this comment was from a year ago, so I don't know if this is still relevant for you. But if you take a long thin strip of fabric from the fabric you used to make the bag, fold the side into each other and sew where they overlap, you'll have a string. Once you do that, to lace it into the bag. To do that, first you need to sew your bag over so that there is an area that is wide enough to get your string through. Next, you'll want to take a safety pin, larger ones are easier to use, pin it into the string and push it through the opening. The pin will make the movement easier.

+xXBarrierXx I'm guessing that they just sewed it on to the bag part, , but do it on the INSIDE of the bag so it isn't as visible.

I know it's so confusing!

I bought one yard of pink fabric for the exterior and one yard of the patterned fabric for the interior. I'm not sure how much my supplies were overall but I'm assuming it had to be under $20. Of course, it depends were you go. To get the string in to the bag I had to fold the top of the bag and make a cut down the middle. (That is where the string will be) Now that you've made the cut, fold it over the string and sew it down. (Make sure you don't accidentally sew in to the string!) Hope this helps! :)
