I have received the RSP 1A from Martin Lynch & sons limited fantastic work fine well packed with box serial number etc thank you SDR for a fantastic I can relax and enjoy Derek G4WBP😊
Thanks for the helpful video! New to SDR. I bought an RSP2pro and while I'm "getting it" enough to listen, I definitely need to learn more about using this awesome piece of hardware as well as SDRuno.
wished you had your screen set w\o so tight of resolution on your screen . can't even read what's on the screen..I plan on buying one today or tomorrow hope i can find a program i like better... too much going on for me with this one . I was using sdr# and HDSDR with the Ham-it-up . I just need a simple pan adaptor.
Nice presentation Mike. Good timing, I am ready to install my new RSP1A this weekend. If I recall, you did a video a while back and offered your collection of frequencies and posted links. None of them work. Is there a updated version of that? It would be great to have something to start out with. Thank you for your help and have a good weekend. 73.
What is not clear to me is you have us restarting the computer in what appears to be the middle of the install, at 5:47 into this video. Do you mean reboot the computer before connecting the RSP? At this point, it really appears as if the install is not finished? We then restart, then reinstall again? This point is very confusing to me, and I'm afraid to make a mistake.
Mike suggested the re-start of the pc, because occasionally we have had the situation where the PC didn't find the RSP. It's a very rare occurance these days and (up to date) windows installations are a bit more predictable (this video is 17 months old). So try it without rebooting - if there is a problem you can restart the computer with the RSP connected and launch SDRuno and it should be fine. If you still have problems, then get in touch by raising a ticket on www.sdrplay.com/support and we'll help you one-to-one.
2/19/21 SDRPLAY doesnt seem to have the "LO" options anymore. Picked one up and got it installed and running, cant seem to receive much no matter what antenna i use.
I just purchased the RSP1A and would like to preinstall SDRuno using my RTL dongle so I can practice using the software until the RSP1A arrives. Can you point me to a resource to do this? Or will this complicate matters when the RSP1A arrives? Great video series. 73, K6CCA
Hi Mike. Can you kindly explain the function of ZOOM in SDRuno Main SP? I notice that in your demo clip the Zoom area is very narrow and the RED line sits on the frequency chosen with the white line. In my case the red line is OFF set the White line. For example if I take the white line (with the cross) to a spike on the waterfall, the Red line will remain off centered from the spike position. I then have to go inside the shaded area (where the cursor turns into a rectangular box) and move the red line on top of the spike. Sorry to worry. I am not sure if this had been covered elsewhere. Thanks Ekendra 4S7EF
The general answer is "Local Oscillator" as in en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_oscillator - the RSP LO converts the incoming signal either directly to "baseband" (as in "Zero IF" (intermediate frequency)), or to a "low IF" - there's lots of SDRplay-specific LO discussion on the SDRplay forum on the topic - for example see www.sdrplay.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3009&p=9270&hilit=oscillator#p9270 - another great place to get help on any questions like this is the independent SDRplay Facebook group with over 8000 members - facebook.com/groups/sdrplay - it's aclosed group to help keep out spammers but once you join you'll meet with friendly SDR enthusiasts with a huge spectrum of knowledge and practical advice. Newcomers to the RSP typically don't need to worry about the LO frequency, if they simply take the default settings - especially with the SDRuno band buttons, things are taken care for them.
Can someone give me some advice please? I installed the SDRUno v1.22 program, and am using the SDRPlay RSP 1a hardware with this. Everything installed with no problems or errors. I start SDRUno, and it seems to run OK - it recognizes the SDRPlay and I see the various screens and such, but I cannot tune anything. I tried some local FM stations I know are strong, but I see or hear nothing. Just static. I know I have my settings correct - FM using WFM, and the frequency is tuned correctly, and am using an antenna that I know works with other programs like SDR Sharp. I know the SDRPlay hardware is working, as I tried the SDR Console program on the SDRPlay website, and it works fine. I don't really like this console program, and would prefer to use the SDRUno. I tried to uninstall the SDRUno and drivers and reinstalled everything, but still nothing. Just static. I have been using an SDR Dongle with SDR Sharp successfully for some time, and I can pick up the FM stations using that setup and the same antenna I use now. Someone told me to try SDRUno v1.23, but I thought that only supports the DUO? Any advice as to what the problem is with my SDRUno setup? Thanks!
+Two hands -- Yes, in my case it was something really dumb on my part. I was entering the frequency in KHz instead of MHz. So, for 102.3, I was actually entering 102.3 KHz, and, as you can imagine, there is nothing at that frequency.
I have received an SDR RSP 1A from Amazon it has no serial number on the unit a small bar code on cardboard box seems fraudulant Does the serial number have to be on unit Derek G4WBP
The genuine RSP1A should have the serial number on a label stuck to the base of the unit. If for some reason this has come off in transit, you can still download SDRuno or SDRconnect and find out the serial number which will appear in the software (in SDRuno click on OPT and About in the main panel (top left). With SDRconnect it displays the serial number in the top left.
@@SDRplayRSP thank you it would seem their is no label for serial number I very concerned it could be not sDR quality Thanks for reply Derek still struggling
