In 2020 SDS Models Australia released a limited edition run of NR30 & NR52 in the Bessie Liddle Indigenous painted liveries. In this review i take a look at the models and run though some of the features as well as include some running footage and a brief history of the prototype.

That is an interesting review. The horn sound is different than the Auscision one, but if I recall correctly, the real loco does make such sound on some ocassions. The carriages made me emotional because it reminds me to what I saw when I lived in Australia. At one point I wanted to buy the model, but couldn't afford it.

Great review. 👌 I’ve just bought an Auscision NR DCC loco. Very happy with it. Would also like to see a video about the real life NR class locos, as you mentioned. 👍

Ah awesome! Which one did you get? I seem to have missed out on getting the Australian National ones I wanted as I’ve waited to late! Yeah I reckon that’ll certainly happen at some point!

Hi Will. I bought 2 of the gen 1 SDS GHAN locos recently, tested one of them at the club today. I found the same thing; it can pull just 10 cars up a grade. My cars today were 10 Lima coaches from the 1970s and 1 Walthers Mainline sleep car. Depending on the speed it could sometimes pull the extra car but it was much happier pulling 10 cars

Hi Will, Great Video! I have just got my GWU locomotive DCC from DC! What do I need for my ditch lights to do the motion?

Thank you very much! I believe you might need to manually program it to, using a programmer such as a ESU Locprogrammer. Then have to set it as a function. As one of mine is factory sound equipped it’s like that out of the box when I GM hit the horn. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

Will I have a DCC layout....re the dummy unit... as you know decoders are very hard to get right now.. So if you by the dummy without the dcc ship, does that mean you can't turn on the lights on the dummy if you put it on a powered DCC track? Does it short the circuit if you do this? If you leave the lights off... is there any problem> ? thanks

Oh absolutely i know! I have so many models awaiting a chip! Yeah you can still have the lights on, there are little switches on the bottom that let you manually switch them, but yeah a decoder if still the better idea!

Nice review Will i am very tempted to get the SDS models NR class even though i plan to model V/Line in the 1980s and 1990s but they are good models SDS are really coming out with some good stuff can't waait to get my hands on the T and Y class when they are realeased.

how do you add the NR to the dcc code i tryed to add nr36 but it wont let me do it because it has NR on the front how do you add the pacific national with Nr

You can’t ad alphabetical/letters to a DCC code! Only numbers.

Ah I see! Both are great! I don’t yet own an Auscision one, but I’m pretty keen to get a National Rail one eventually and I’ll make a review when I do!
