Dude… I just picked up a JP lost world yesterday from Kansas City and drove back to my house in Minneapolis. First pinball for me! Bought it for $2300. Only 2 owners before me. I played it till 1:30 in the morning. Absolutely LOVE this pinball machine!
I have a Data East Jurassic park it's a keeper, I can only comment on this pin. I've had it for about 15 years and it always brings a smile to my face every time I start it up. Great review very honest I agree with most of your comments. Cheers guys
I bought a JP back in 2004 in good condition. The only issue I have with it is when the T-Rex bends over, 1 out of 20 times he fails to pick up the ball. I added few extra dinos from the dollar store to the fields which really enhanced the toys in the field. I enjoyed your video, keep up the great work.
Greg - your spinner problem on MobileLab mode- You should juice your spinners! I had the same issue w my Tommy and after juicing them up they spin forever. Clean the wires, ensure they are straight, then Take a fine grit sandpaper and sand down the ends where the wire contacts the post- add a silicon lube like 3-1 or superlube with a q-tip (don’t need much and don’t get it everywhere). And blast them baby’s. Few things in life offer more pleasure than ripping a juiced up spinner!
Love the enthusiasm from Greg here. I think that's what is great about Pinball, everyone has their favourite game. A new Fallen Kingdom pin would be amazing. I always thought a King Kong pin would be cool with a Kong that grabs the ball
Jurassic Park Art: C+ for me. All I look at are the dinosaurs, and they are very well rendered. Also, to me the toys are part of the art and that T-Rex is awesome. Also, display was good for its time, and sound as well. All contribute to the art of the machine. Shots/Layout: C+. Some key shots are difficult or sewer shots. Agreed on the "stop and go". Game is tough and ball times can be very low. Typical game you get one great ball, one average ball and one house ball. Rules/Code: B. Good, if not very good for its time. Toys/Innovation: B+. T-Rex + smart missile says it all. T-Rex was often broken, or a ball would get jammed in some weird place. So the toys made the game quite unreliable. Music/Call Outs: A. Some of the most memorable sound of any game I've played. Plays the theme music when you have a great game. The T-Rex sound! The sound at the start of each mode is cool and unique. Smart missle sound. All very distinctive. Hmmm, thought you guys had a D/A category... Display/Animations: B. Good for its time, but not on the level of ST:TNG. Theme: A. One of the best themes of all time. I think the Data East voice synthesizer was not as realistic as Williams. Still a great and unique sound/music/playfield theme. Enjoyability: B. Tough enough game that you feel good when you have a good game. Not a top rating because of the potential for house balls. Game lacked flow... Cumulative score: B Comment: The kind of game where I drive to a location just for this game. Played it by the hour. Near perfect balance between difficulty and frustration. You want a challenge, but you want to win occassionally.
Greg sounds like a little boy in a candy store (or an archaeologist digging out dinosaur bones) I love it 🤪 Yet again: a fantastic video. Every time I watch your reviews I want to buy the machines! Your review videos is by far the best SDTM production there is and the best reviews out there💪🏼👍🏼
best pinball podcast series by far! need more videos , cant wait for ACNC review, puzzled why the subs count is not higher. keep up the great work lads.
Thanks for the review, great job! Love this movie and wish I had either of these machines. Minor gripe, when you’re talking about the T-Rex, you say “he”, but all dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are female.
TurboDieselDan +1 to that My strategy now is to buy up as many system 11 games as they are the next era of pin to soon be insanely priced. You can still find some really nice games like F14 Taxi HS etc redone and in great shape for reasonable prices . It won’t last long tho I already see them going up up up
Original HS has a great ball save kick May have been the first from what I recall? Talkin 1986 - I was 8 and remember Riding my bike to the pool hall every day to play that game- my first love .
Straight Down The Middle: a pinball show ..Sweet it is a really fun pin but Tales is still my favorite Sega/Data East pin.. the Theme makes it for me on that one although the Cryptkeeper can get annoying!
Would love to see some Jurassic Park: Lost World streamed. Preferably a stream where Greg can get the audio working correctly ;-) Why hasn't Zach streamed any Star Wars?
Don't Panic Flip ha ha I did have a few decent ones on twitch but they may have been deleted. I do need to stream soon. I have to do SW soon then I’ll do LWJP again
Catching up on some SDTM videos on vacation in Cancun this week. Great job guys. Would love to share pics of our JP Jeep, and JP display in our game room/mancave with you.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yD-yROhAI-o.html JP display at about 2:53 in video, not sure how to attach JP Jeep pic here. My wife and I are huge pinball junkies, and we love your videos. Stop by our mancave if you're ever in Washington IL, lol. Thanks, Brad & Jenny
I've been playing the original Data East table this week. I think the rule set is tricky but OK however the lane design really ruins it for me. I kept track and out of 20 occasions when the ball entered the lane areas, 16 times it went down an outlane. That's far too high a percentage for my taste.
i got 3rd place last night in our north end pub season 3 pinball league tournament. and i got 3rd in normal season. i shoulda picked iron maiden but i was thinking ahead and saving my best for last and it bit me in the ass
Agree on Harry Potter for killer pinball theme... for me, the only license that would be more awesome is Dune. I just bought a Whirlwind... I need to fix some popped inserts, but it is a good player. Just stating to make you jealous. ;P
Joshua Anderson man if I find one I’m buying. There was a NIB that popped up last year but the guy wouldn’t sell. When I do find one I’ll for sure post pics and such (Greg)
Straight Down The Middle: a pinball show +1 on the special WW. Find one w diamond plate pf all refurbed. It’s a world of difference. Be prepared to pay $4k or more but it’s worth every penny
