The German Navy had purchased a total of 22 Westland Sea King MK 41 utility helicopters in the 1970s. In the meantime, 21 helicopters are still in use, but they are now getting a bit old. The Sea King MK 41 is now being gradually replaced by the NH90 Sea Lion naval transport helicopter.
