The crystal blue one looks amazing! Just got one off amazon and it’s day 5, my son is so excited on feeding them! “Mommy, can we open packet number 3 now??” I’m so glad to be able to share my love of sea monkeys with my boy! Hopefully the sea monkeys make it for generations to come!
Nicely done, John. I was so excited when I came upon that original 1999 kit for sale - knowing how much you wanted it and that it was the thing holding up production on this video. I have sentimental attachments to the original, just because of my association with ExploraToy at the time. But my favorite of the three is the crystal blue castle. I think it’s beautiful and agree with you about making the Sea-Monkeys easier to see. I do wish however that it was a translucent crystal purple castle in keeping with the Sea-Monkeys castle home for five-plus decades. The domed kits are so popular but I generally don’t like them. I prefer the traditional Ocean-Zoo tanks and variations thereof. That probably has a lot to do with my age. What it boils down to is any new or different Sea-Monkey kit is exciting and needed for the collection. Again, very nicely done. - Tod
I’m so thankful you managed to find that tank! This video would’ve definitely been incomplete without it. A transparent purple castle would definitely be a good idea 👌 it’s cool seeing the evolution this tank has gone through over the years. Who knows where it’ll go next 💫 I like the themed designs of the domed tanks, I’d love to see something similar in an Ocean Zoo shape. I’m excited to review the ghostly gallion set soon, I love the sunken ship in there! Thanks for the kind words regarding the video. Now on to the next one 🎥
@@pico-cosmos : Ghostly Galleon. There’s another one that has been reincarnated so many times in so many ways. There are TONS of variations. So many so that I don’t know what all happened when. I know what the first iteration was … if I can find it. I must still have a few SM boxes in storage that never made it to bins. Anyways, that’ll be a fun and meaty video for you to produce. I was involved with ExploraToy then so Gregory should have some insight into that. 👍👍👍
@@gulliblesbabbles Yeah I've barely looked into those sets yet, but from what I've seen it seems like the variations and re-brandings are endless. I actually remember always wanting one as a kid but never getting it, so it'll be like fulfilling a childhood dream when I finally get around to it 🙌
@@gulliblesbabbles I definately would look forward to that one, being a Pirate loving kid it was a 50/50 between it and the Shuttle and I'm praying I still have it and its intact somewhere in my parents loft so I can use it again.
I love this channel, you hear about how sea monkeys have disappointed people, but you do an excellent job showing how they are amazing animals to care for by their own merits. Out of the three tanks here I was surprised to end up thinking the transparent castle is my favorite version, it looks so nice when the algae grows on it!
I hear that a lot too, but with proper care it’s not too difficult to keep them healthy. It took me a few tries to get things right though 😅 I think the transparent castle looks great with algae too! That was my least favourite tank before trying them out, but I’m definitely a convert now
Great job of explaining sea monkeys, I’m 64 and would love to win a sea monkey castle so I’m keeping my fingers crossed I’m alone so it would be so cool to watch them grow and thrive!!!
Found your channel scrolling through shorts and was instantly hooked. You're everything edutainment used to be in the prime days of discovery, animal planet and PBS. It's charismatic, unique, informative and playful with a high production and very relaxing tone. Incredibly professional too for just a RU-vid channel
Thanks man! I really appreciate that :) I’m still a bit of a newbie with RU-vid but trying to improve these videos as quickly as I can. Glad to hear you’re enjoying them : )
I love how much passion you have for sea monkeys from the sea monkeys themselves to the art and history that come with the brand. I think the blue Crystal castle is my favourite set so far!
I have a feeling that in a few years finding those standard magic castle tanks will be pretty hard to come by! Definitely like this new blue castle version though, it’s a nice change
I’ve had so many people tell me this is their favourite of the 3 tanks. I got my Japanese one a few months back and it cost me $100 😅 definitely glad to see it’s becoming more widely available
At the start of the video I liked the tank with the colorful castle and once you actually tested them out I really enjoyed the clear crystal castle. I so appreciate the care you put into your videos and how educational and entertaining they are! Fantastic as usual!
This was basically the same journey I went on, I preferred the pink castle tank before using them and then towards the end the crystal blue castle really grew on me :) Thanks for the kind words about the video 🙏 glad to hear you’re enjoying the content
Aw man, its awesome that they are letting the new crystal design circulate more! the blue shade is really killer and the see through is way better for visibility, i feel like the only trap ot doesnt fall into is the issue of size tbh
I haven't thought about the sea monkeys since childhood but I have been enjoying your videos a lot, I might just buy a new set again after all these years!
I've been wanting a magic castle since I was a kid, I haven't seen the crystal castle until just recently and I NEED it ! I'm really glad it's now available, although I still haven't been able to find one, Hopefully soon !
Brilliant video yet again. I think out of all of them my personal favorite would have to be a tie between the original and the Japanese variant. I look forward to seeing more tanks in the future.
Really been looking forward to this one! I think it was my childhood love of fairytales and medieval imagery, but this has always been one of my favorite designs. I think I like the 1990s version the most because of how retro the base looks, but the modern version is just as cool. The Japanese crystal tank is such a unique take on it and gives it a more "magic" feel too. I definitely want to get into raising Sea Monkey's soon and this will probably be my tank of choice. Thanks for making such informative content!
That’s a good point! I didn’t touch on the fairytale aspect here but it’s clearly where the inspiration has come from. The ‘99 magic castle tank is so tiny but the small size makes it really cute, I think I just prefer the brighter colours of the new tanks. Good luck with your Sea-Monkeys when you get them and feel free to reach out if you have any questions
I love this video, super excited to see the older set. I have one of the old Magic Castles but nothing seemed to live long in it. I'm trying again though and using your videos as a guide
So nice, I really love this blue castle design, and the sea monkeys on mars too, those two are my favorite, they’re design are so beautiful and detailed.
Another great video. Keep going! I was never interested in the Magic Castle Tank, but the new transparent blue is pretty cool! That said, The Sea Monkeys on Mars Tank is my all time favorite.
I've been watching this channel for close to a year now and I can't help but be entertained learning about these sea monkey tanks, I always assumed they made them in the default tanks we always see but it's cool seeing these products and learning more about these small creatures, doing an amazing job as always!!
I think my favorite design was the blue castle one and I loved the mars video that tank has probably been the best one I've seen so far! I love watching videos about sea monkeys I've never owned one but I've been watching you for a few months now and I think I can definitely raise a a colony!
That's so cool! Glad to hear that some people come here just for the entertainment value :) you're always welcome to join the hobby whenever you're ready
Dude love your videos. You got me into sea monkey and gotten all my supplies from your Amazon store front. And with your awesome advice my two sea monkey colonies are doing great.
Your videos are so professional and beautiful, I really enjoy each and every one. It's so cool that you got your hands on all three variants to compare them; I now really want to get that crystal variant but also need to pull the trigger on finally ordering the other before it's gone--thanks for that heads up!
Thanks man! Really appreciate that. I’m trying to get better with my camera work so it’s great to hear that people are noticing :) yeah I’s definitely recommend getting the pink castle version soon, it will likely be gone within a few months
I really love these videos taking a detailed look into the small details and minutia of the products released over the years! I think they should make more themed tanks like this, it would really make each set up feel more unique and interesting
@@pico-cosmos I was recommended the video "Are sea monkeys real?" via the RU-vid algorithm. I occasionally watch videos on "strange" animals and "strange" history. Sea Monkeys are an interesting topic. From both an evolutionary standpoint, as well as their somewhat controversial rise towards pop-culture superstardom. Not only are many people unaware of what these creatures even are (or even knew if they truly existed, as many children had been given kits with eggs that had never hatched), those who were aware of their presence look back on the experience of raising Sea Monkeys with fondness and nostalgia. It also helps that the history of Sea Monkeys has been controversial, with many children expecting literal monkeys or sea-people to appear in the tanks. Also the fact that Harold von Braunhut was a bit of a twisted individual makes for interesting discussion.
Ah yeah that video seems to be doing well recently 👍 It’s great seeing that so many people share my interest for them, and you’re totally right! Their twisted history and unusual marketing make them that much more wacky
This has been a great channel to help me with this! I discovered sea monkeys after moving to the US for my masters degree last year and your channel has been a great inspiration for getting them as the cutest companions for me here!
Just recently found your channel and it made me want to start keeping sea monkeys. I’m all new to this since sea monkeys are not a thing in the country where I used to live but watching your videos and guides helped me learn stuff about them and I’m planning to keep some in the near future. tysm❤️
Great video as usual! Definitely interesting to see the progression of this tank design. While I do prefer the larger tank size of the newer sets, I much prefer the actual tank design of the original. I wish the original set had the bigger tank! Anyway, keep up the good work!
Brilliant video John once again, really enjoying the channel. My daughter loves her sea monkeys, so looks like I’ll be adding the magic castle tank to our collection.
Cheers Terry! Is this one of those situations where the parent is buying Sea-Monkeys 'for the kid', but really it's just an excuse to get them for themselves? 😂 I have a feeling that's fairly common lol glad you guys are enjoying the videos though mate, and good luck for the giveaway!
Your channel is mostly responsible for my current obsession with Sea Monkeys. I'm getting a Magic Castle for my birthday and I couldn't be any more excited. I'm just really afraid they'll die 😖. Your channel has definitely increased my understanding and as a result their chances of survival so thank you so much ! This is probably a dumb question, I think I probably know the answer already, but in your opinion how likely is long term survival if their tank is kept at a stable 17º. I'm thinking about getting a heater but it would be my preference to keep their set up more simple, but I also don't want to stress them out/ give them a miserable cold life. I should probably just get a heater i'm thinking. Thanks so much again for all your content. It's tiding my over until the little water babies come. Cheers!
Hey :) thanks for supporting the channel man! 17° is a bit chilly.. I don’t like to see their tank dip below 20°C so I’d definitely recommend getting a USB aquarium heater 👌 good luck!
I am learning so much about raising sea-monkeys and collecting tanks from your channel. I wasn't planning on collecting, I just wanted 4 specific tanks, but these videos got me the bug and I am going broke. HAHA.. Keep up the good work.
I love watching your videos, so informative and they are put together very well! Love your accent too so your channel is my favortite for sea monkey content!
You posted this 10 minutes after I pulled the trigger on the Mars tank, lol. I wasn't sure the castle would match the knick knacks in my room. Just 2 days of watching your videos made me NEED a tank of my own, lol
I used to have sea monkeys as a kid and recently have wanted to start keeping some more from watching your videos. My favorite tank so far has to be the mars tank but that translucent blue castle looks really cool!
the crystal castle is absolutely my favorite! the way the light bounces off of it almost makes it glow and i love that you can see the sea monkeys swimming through it! it's got a really ethereal look to it
I really want to get my son and daughter into sea monkey keeping, teaches responsibility and they get to have the same cool little creatures their dad had many years ago. Keep up the videos I'm really enjoying them!
They’re definitely a great gift for children! Teaches them about biology and gets them off of digital screens for a while lol. Good luck for the giveaway!
I love animals. Through the years I´ve had from dogs and cats to parrakeets and even iguanas. Some I even forget I had. For instance, I forget I owned an Ant Farm...and Sea Monkeys. That was in the 90s. So glad this channel exists so it stays relevant.
Hi I am a new subscriber and have fallen in love with sea monkeys. Your videos provide so much information on how to raise and care for sea moneys. I wish to start my 1st sea monkey pack and help them thrive. Keep up the good work!
You’ve gotten me and my brother into Sea Monkeys! Thank you for sharing this with kids who were born in the age of technology, this is even cooler than tech!
The natural world is incredible huh. It’s full of so many wonders, it’s cool that we can bring this little piece of it into our homes and experience them :)
I really like how educational your videos are, i've raised goldfish and some other freshwater fish before, so these guys seam so much easier to take care of
@@pico-cosmos sea monkies do require work, keeping any pet does, i respect how much work you've done in learning how to best take care of multiple generations of the little guys, but compared to a lot of other 'starter' aquatic pets, they seam much easier when starting out. Goldfish are surprisingly difficult to keep alive, not to mention things like tetras or cory cats
I really liked this channel, I have done my tanks set up like yours. I like sitting in front of my tanks and watch my sea monkeys swim around. I like the crystal see thru tank.
THESE VIDEOS ARE SO ADDICTING!!! i used to have sea monkeys when i was younger and they got massive, it was super fun watching them zoom around doing sea monkey chores, but i remember accidentally knocking them over and they spilled out on our couch! That was a sad day for youngster me
Haha thanks! Honestly your story isn't all that uncommon, I've had a bunch of people tell me their tanks have been knocked over 😅 Sometimes I think they need to come with a wider base
i was kinda scared of these lil buds since i grew up and actually saw them for the first time, and now i’m sitting here seriously considering getting some sea monkeys for my 28th birthday. awesome videos dude, please keep it up! 🎉
@@pico-cosmos HECK YEAH, i’m genuinely, like, really hyped! Especially when you have a whole new kit! 🤟🏻🤩 ✨ Also, thank-you, for the reply, making such great content, and all while taking such good care of these sweet lil buddies! 💚🖖🏻🌻
Awesome Channel, definitively one of the best recommendations I've had in past months. Thanks for sharing wonderful tips and for the reviews, all the time they take really can be felt and ads to the video in a wonderful manner.
I had sea monkeys when I was a little girl and I have been wanting to get me some really bad. I had no clue that I could until I saw your videos!! I'm a new subscriber and I look forward to more videos and hopefully I'll be able to share about my own sea monkeys soon! I really love the turquoise one!!!
I recently found ur channel and its caused me to give sea monkeys another go. hopefully it goes better than it did when i was a child. Keep up the great work!
@@pico-cosmos yes! I’m on day 8 so seeing definite progress, and I’ve even converted my fiancé to the sea monkey team! He didn’t know why I’d bought them originally but is a big fan of “our lil sea monkey dudes”
I recently bought Triop eggs because I was told they were very similar to brine shrimp, unfortunately, the eggs haven’t hatched, and I’ve done absolutely everything I could to get them to grow. But I’m just happy with even trying to grow them!
I think the newer pink castle, and the blue crystal are my favourites. The pink for how it looks from far away, and the blue because of how you can still see the sea moneys in it.
I do love the concept of giving the sea monkeys something to swim in, through and out of, give them some variety, and surely it's good to give them somewhere to hide as they would have in the wild?
Yeah I’m not sure tbh. I used to have an aquarium ornament in one of my DIY tanks that had a dark cave, and the adults loved going in there during the day to hide. I’m not sure if it affected their health in a positive way or not but it was interesting to observe
I like the brightness of crystal blue tank the most I stumbled upon your Chanel by accident one day and it inspired me to get the sea monkeys on mars tank 😂
@@pico-cosmos well, was doing good for about three or four months. But then it slowly started to not do so well. And now I’m at the point that it looks like I need to start a new colony.
The crystal castle tank is my favourite of all the tanks I've seen so far. 🩵 I found your channel a few nights ago, & am very happily binge-watching all your videos. I remember sea monkey ads in comics in the 1970s, & they didn't appeal to me at all then, but I'm really enjoying learning all about them now! Best wishes from Czechia 🇨🇿
