Putting this update over the year one anniversary update before it even released is kind of risky. Time will tell if it is or maybe isn't

I agree year 1 anniversary was hype but if u think about it now the only things that lasted from it was fishing (kinda), tall tales and open treasure chests

I have yet to come across an athena emissary. I have come across reapers. I think twice I just ran and if caught, they sank my ship. One time was just raising a flag, level one, and did not have loot on board. I did not put up a fight. One of them asked to kill them, they sunk my ship and killed me again. The second time, I had loot. I dropped a 4 chests of the damned, while running. Then thinking they would let me go, they kept on coming after me. I still had loot on my ship, so I decided to run off the map. I worked 2 hours going back and forth to those ghost forts, only to let a reaper take all the loot, no thank you. Then I came across them again, but they were not under the reaper. I ran out of bounds again. Then woke up on a beach near the ghost fort they went to. I rowed a boat over in that direction, simmed the rest and decided to take their ship, light it on fire and beach them. Killed the guy that kept spawning everytime. Then left.

I feel like it would be more accurate if the Athena players were running and doing pve while reapers were fighting for 10 seconds before running away and then doing pve.

Been rewatching this over and over almost solely for the music at this point, I think I might die if they don't release this track. Really hoping it will be the menu music too, that would be sick.

@@damianadams8779 so people who aren't great at pvp will be matched against other bad pvpers? How will skill based matchmaking work is there already some type of skill tracker in sot?

@@artemis5265 It's based in a ladder matchmaking system to match you against other players of a similar skill of yours. When you win a fight you gain points that move you up the ladder. When you lose a fight you lose points and move you down the ladder. You are matched against players that have a similar point value of yours, making it so you fight against crews of an equal skill.

I doubt being a skeleton/ghost is a curse. I think they are their own type of cosmetic. The curses just also affect skellies and ghosts.

@@Stubbiee Probably only because people moaned. Fact remains it sucks having time limited world stuff going specially when it involves story. And the more I miss out on the less likely I am to come back. Mind they've got my money now so... Lol should of walked when they anounced private servers where for hire only and we wouldn't be enjoying the sea's on our todd unless we coughed up.

Knowing hoe toxic the player base is, i doubt that many inter crew alliances will form even if they are on the same team

@@wile123456 right. The problem is that people aren't doing it for gold or cosmetic incentives, so the whole hourglass thing won't mean much to them. They're just in it for the PvP, so they will fight each other.

That doesn't seem to be what we are getting... You are opting IN to PVP, your ship "dives beneath the waves" aka Instance Transfer ... so you'll essentially be sent to fight some other ship, or they will be sent to fight you, in short order - across servers. This isn't like "Red Team / Blue Team" ... it's PVP for prizes, essentially.

Oh, PvE is still PvEvP - don't forget or be sad when you find your boat as kindling from a passing bastard

@@dawidscheffler7152 I'll be honest, if players still sink people doing tall tales or something with no loot then they are just too scared to fight other pvpers lol

@@Jallu555 there is still incentive to swipe loot and sink others for the "greed" of the hour glass but, yeah, it should make it more likely that they will chase one another rather than a non-faction ship - agreed.

But 99.9% of PVP players won't participate and will instead go after easy tall tale sinks.

Sink all ships is my playstyle and that will never change, sorry.

I agree but I don’t think people understand the grind for the rewards,you need to get level 100 for the stuff And in the video it showed 42 sunken ships is only level 10.5 so idk if people are willing to grind that much for it

@tatumtrane5744 I get where your coming from, but hopefully it won’t be as hard of a grind as you think. Even if it is that hard, many dedicated players will still be happy.

@@captain_britain they both have their points I gotta say morally and philosophically about what and how you should be as a Pirate so I do really like them both, just finished listening to Athena’s fortune on Spotify so I have a lot more understanding of him and he’s an amazing character. But Flameheart also have his points, can’t wait till I get my hands on his novel, but also like… skeletons and flames, I like that astetic a lot 😅 so double win for him

I just started reading Heart of Fire myself, and I've lent out Athena's Fortune to 2 of my crew mates. :) I love the sense of competition that's been building, and the fact that the whole thing is built on top of years' worth of lore.
