Stoked to just have a few abrasions and some soreness, I would have been bummed to have been taken out for the weekend. Once you get the flow of it, it gets way less pedaly and more fun! Definitely exhausting but super fun! Seems all the DH segments we have consist of a pedal or two 😉
Good eye! This year I’ve pledged to spend more time on the flats and I think it’ll benefit me by getting the practice in early. As this course wasn’t very steep and I wasn’t dropping a foot often I definitely could have ran flats confidently. I was thinking about switching on/off depending on the course this year but I plan to wear flats for every race!
Thanks Vince! I’m stoked to finish out the weekend on a high note and definitely glad the crashes didn’t take me away from the fun. The slalom crash was so dumb 🤦🏻♂️ going for redemption next year
Ripping! The Sea Otter DH course is definitely an interesting one. Unlike normal DH, this one takes getting creative with lines because even .01 sec counts when it comes to this DH. Your lines looked real good up to that last rhythm section where you lost a lot of speed. Even I screwed that up doing table to table, with speed I think it's a good line but it seems like the triple is the move, that section take a lot of balls to pick a fast line😂. I did the enduro so I only got 2 practice runs, so next yeah, I plan to do more and prefect the course a bit. Killing it Justin 🤙
Dang only 3 runs total on this course that would be hard to put down a good time! What did you end up with for time in the enduro stage of the DH course? Table to table would have been faster than what I did, but even the triple was faster. I watched a guy go down hard in practice and then I fell too so I was "content" with the safe line, still beat myself up after tho haha! Will you race the DH in the future?
@@justin_niemi I got 2:19. So not too bad for 2 practice runs. If you want to see it, I posted the raw run on my RU-vid. Yeah for sure, If I didn't nose case the table to table, it would have been pretty fast. I feel you man, that looked gnarly! I'm glad your were okay. You did real well all things considered, it all looked smooth and controlled. Yes, next year I'm planning to do the Enduro and DH. I thought about signing up for the DH last minute this year, but I only had the air bnb till Friday... Next year!
I was definitely on the struggle bus on day 1. Brand new bike, not set up for me (yet) and a course I had never set eyes on. Generating speed is huge here and I was not doing a good job. The reason for the oh gods was because I kept getting bucked and I believe it most was because of the suspension setup. Had it dialed in for day 2 tho!
