Dr Giulia Champion is an Anniversary Research Fellow at the University of Southampton. She shares an update on her fellowship and discusses the dilemma between the “green transition”, moving to more renewable energy and the impact of deep-sea mining, which is being used to extract metals needed for this transition. Her research is helping to understand how the seabed and mining is being perceived and what the environmental impact of deep-sea mining is.

Electric car production is terrible for the environment. Look it up, you'll be shocked as it does MORE damage to the environment compared to regular gas vehicles. We are better putting in policies to reduce cars on the road in general, increasing the quality of public transport and using bikes and walking more.
