Hey MK I've got a 2002 seadoo RX 951 that ran ok last year but now it turns over but won't start. It seems like the engine is not pulling fuel through the carbs. Carb cleaner in the intake will get it going for a bit. Since it won't start I can't get a warm compression check but cold is 90psi. Maybe replace the rings? Top end rebuild? Fuel pressure test? Not sure where to start.

i couldnt pull the shaft out of the flywheel.. the seal is removed from one end, but that thing is on there good

Generally the grease creates a vacuum seal on the splines, could always try a pry bar to leverage it. Its tight but it will go.

@@MK-qv7bq What i found out from SBT manual is to take off the front engine mount, giving me space to pull the motor foward and it came right off!! But then i realized i could of taken off just the top while engine was in place !! 😑😑😵‍💫😵‍💫 All that work 😮‍💨😮‍💨🥴🥴

Just bought one last week, took it on the water, wouldn't go over 10 mph. In the driveway it idles at 3k rpm, starts right up. Took it to a shop said one cylinder reads 110 psi, they suggested a new engine, im wondering why not just a top end? Can you help ? Thanks
@MK-qv7bq
@MK-qv7bq Год назад
At 110 psi its hard to say or suggest what would be best without knowing how the condition of the bottom end is. That should really be judged by someone who knows what and how much slop is acceptable in a 947/951. I will say though I've had 947/951 with less than 110 @ sea level that ran fine. May want to investigate further before you go straight to rebuild.

i have a 98 gtx limited as well but my intake looks different. it has two rectangular horns that come up on either side of the pipe, with rubber flaps over the ends...?
@MK-qv7bq
@MK-qv7bq 5 месяцев назад
That would be the factory airbox. It does an excellent job at preventing water from being ingested into the carbs. My engine as pictured had pod filters installed. Same engine just different airbox/filter setup.

Need help, I rebuilt the carbs and replaced the fuel lines and now have two lines and two ports to hook up. Mag side top of carb has an empty tee fitting and bottom of same carb has a fitting. There are two lines one goes to the top of fuel tank, the other two the fuel select control, which goes where ? Is there an online fuel line diagram ? Thank you !
@MK-qv7bq
@MK-qv7bq 3 года назад
Smaller line coming from the fuel selector should run to the top of the carbs. This is your supply. Larger line connects to the bottom tee. This is your return. Hope this helps.

I just bought one, same unit like yours. And it always drained the battery. Should I replace the stator?
@MK-qv7bq
@MK-qv7bq 3 года назад
I would start by checking your ground wire. If it is bad than the battery will drain. Afterwards ide run the ski and check the voltage of the battery with a multimeter. This should be done with a known good and charged battery. Should be about 14 volts. If theres no increase than there is an issue with the stator,regulator, or rectifier. I may also note that there are some fuses in the mpem. Wouldnt hurt to check if they're blown.

I have the exact same ski that I baught in pieces. I am stumped on where the fuel lines connect to the carbs? Can you show me where the fuel lines come from and connect to please? Thanks.

Unfortunately I no longer have my Gtx Limited, so I can't make a video. But if I recall correctly the supply line should be ontop, the return line wich is a larger grey hose should be on bottom, and the pulse line wich runs to the engine block will be on the side. All of these connections are on the magneto side of the engine. Ie closest to the front. These lines with the exception of the pulse line should be connected to the selector petcock. Wich should be labeled. Hope this was some help.

I can not find a way to get to the nut which is on the bottom stud of the manifold what tool did you use ? I need to clean the gummed up carbs. Thanks for any help.
@MK-qv7bq
@MK-qv7bq 3 года назад
By manifold I assume your referencing the black "tune pipe" wich wraps around the engine. The carbs actually need to be removed prior unless you have specialty tools. So this means you can clean your carbs without having to remove the exhaust :)
@vintagevmax2410
@vintagevmax2410 3 года назад
@@MK-qv7bq Yes, the pipe that sits above the carbs... if you can remove the carbs without removing the manifold pipe then you're more flexible than me... :) Thanks for the reply !

Nice video.. I have a question not portaining to removing the motor, but I was removing my carbs to rebuild them and accidentally pulled a clear line that runs on the bottom of the hull on the carb side and it runs and drains out the left side of the sea doo. Is that an engine drain line? I’m confused because I have no clue where it’s suppose to go
@MK-qv7bq
@MK-qv7bq 5 лет назад
Thats most likely the vent hose for the battery. Some hydrogeon batteries have vents on them. This line normally clips into the front of the battery tray where the notch is. If your battery doesnt have a vent then just clip it into the tray and your good to go. Hope this helped
@biggROB45
@biggROB45 5 лет назад
I have the same model with the same motor.. I see that the hose fits fine where the notch is. I was just skeptical about it because it vents to the left side of the ski under the black lining, where I assume water might come in. Is that how yours is set up?
@MK-qv7bq
@MK-qv7bq 5 лет назад
@@biggROB45 under the lining there is a one way check valve. Pressure can only go out, Not come in. No water will enter through the hose. Mine is clipped into the notch. Ive put nearly 30 hours on my ski and the hose has given me no problems.

I hope your still active. I have a question. I just bought a seadoo gtx limited edition with the same motor. It Idles high. That’s the only way it will stay on. If I idle it down it shots off. But when I ride it also it also smokes a lot. I just bought it today for $1000. Cheap or ripped off? I rode it for a good 15 min full throttle and it ran great. I noticed it topped speed at 49kmh. I didn’t pay mind to it or the smoke because it’s old and it was cheap. I thought “if it breaks I’ll fix it”. I just don’t have any knowledge on jetskii motors. I have general knowledge for cars air,fuel,oil main components. My assumption for the smoke is the previous owner put way to much oil in the mix. They took our the oil pump and I have to mix by hand.
@MK-qv7bq
@MK-qv7bq 3 года назад
The ski should idle roughly around 3,000rpm out of the water and around 1,250 in the water. Its normal for these skis to smoke when running premix. That should clear when up to speed though. As for the top speed 49kmh seems a bit low. Top speed should be between 55-60mph. What are your max rpm at wot?
@Elchosenjuan
@Elchosenjuan 3 года назад
@@MK-qv7bqI can’t tell what rpm it idles at. I haven’t looked. But it makes sense! It did sound around 3rpm and I did notice when it was in the water it idled down a bit. It does clear up when it goes in the water a little bit but not much you can still see it. I’m not sure why it maxes out at that speed. I wish I could do something to make it hit full speed. What do I need to do ? I’m changing the spark plugs first they look rusty. I want to clean the carb but that’s a mission and I don’t have that much time to put into it. Plus I don’t want to spend the money on the rebuild kit. I want to rent it out 10 times to get my money back
@MK-qv7bq
@MK-qv7bq 3 года назад
@@Elchosenjuan I would pull off the rave valves and inspect/clean them. Often times they can get gunked up by the premix. This limits the maximum rpm. They should be located ontop the cylinder jugs. Each one is bolted down with 2 Allen head bolts. Also trace back the black hoses that attach to them. If there is a kink in the line it can also limit the max rpm.

@@Elchosenjuan Hmm, well I'de say take a look at the plugs. They could be fouled. You can tell alot about how the engine is running by the color of the plugs. Will it atleast crank over? How may beeps are you getting? May sound stupid, but is there gas in it?
