The windscreen hate is SOOOOO stupid. It’s like the guy who insists he needs forged blades and shoots 87. Grow up. Not everyone wants to skydive, some of us want to fly first class and stay in the plane. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I love my explorer.
Yep, it's definitely grown on my now that we're in winter here in Aus. I might remove it for the summer months yet though. All personal choice I guess.
I recently picked up my 2023 Explorer 170 Pro, and I had it out on rougher water over the weekend. I don't give a damn about what any of the nay-sayers have to moan over; that windshield is AWESOME! It was a cold day, and not getting blasted in the face by cold water and cold air is sweet! Having something to tuck behind is amazing. As far as I'm concerned, the Explorer extends my riding season, so it is worth it 👌 😊
Agreed, there is now a shield on the Fish Pro Sport I ride and its a huge difference at speed, don't worry about my hat flying off. Also, when off-shore, the spray protection makes a difference.
No - the GPS/fish finder turns off 2 mins after engine turns off One, but I always carry a jump pack just in case Really depends on conditions, speed, acceleration vs motoring along. Longest travel for me was 80km in varied conditions and still had 1/3 of a tank.
I absolutely LOVE mine as well....stable, comfortable....and that windshield, what a fantastic feature...I love it and love the windblock (I'm 5 8" so don't catch the wind as much as you)!!! Great video overview...and I would agree, I have the 170 and it's got way more power than I need and also agree, the bumper rail is really handy!!!
So you and your wife and loader you don’t need 230 on open ocean? How much different on gas ? I can dicede the dealer want to seal what they have on showroom
In open ocean, the 230 would be a waste, at least for the Sydney area. We can rarely get over 70 kmh in the swell. Unless you're just playing around in the waves I guess. 230 on the flats on the way out to the ocean would be fun, currently hitting 92kmh top speed.
I am in Port Stephens and looking at potentially getting the Explorer Pro. Any regrets on not getting the 230? Has the 170 got the umph to pull a few kids on a tube or ski/board behind? Love the video and really keen to hear more on your thoughts maybe even pick your brain a bit..?
Hey mate, I'm from Medowie originally - PS is the best :) I wanted the 230, but wasn't available and the dealer convinced me to go the 170. Probably a good call I think, as it's a huge amount of power as is, and good on fuel. I drive mine hard, generally in sport mode flat out all the time and it's great. 230 might be nice upgrade one day, but super happy as it is, pulling tube is super easy. I assume a board would be too.
