I recently bought a (very) early IDE hard drive off of Ebay. Given how it was listed as "for parts/not working", I didn't expect much when I first powered it up.
But, when this old 40-megabyte Seagate ST-157A was powered on, the PSU shut itself off! What gives?
Shorted caps. That's what. :P
But this means that there's a chance that the drive can still be revived!
