Allow me to share a short story on my purchase of the S6 Original yesterday. I went to a local guitar shop carrying the Seagull brand in Malaysia to check out the S6 for the 2nd time. Coincidentally, the son of founder, Patrick Godin was visiting the shop and even took his time to explain about the S6 to me. It seems to me that i'm really FATED to get the S6. Like the S6 so much. The notes just pop out.
I just got this guitar in mint/new condition and I can confidently say that it is the nicest playing and sounding acoustic I have ever played. Thank you Seagull Guitars!!!!
Mark Juchimenko yes I sure did just beautiful.I bought S6 the other day in a used music store has afew nicks on the front but man does it play and sound beautiful. And most important it stays in tune real well after taking a stumming beating. I Love mine.
I have one. I've got a Taylor and a Martin....for the price...this guitar is incredible. I love the action and the tone is fantastic! Check one out....and as you play it...ohhh it smells so nice!!
Any acoustic guitars under $1k are all made in china, I like that these are made by my friends up north with their wood. I'm definitely going to go test one. Great video.
I just bought one of these yesterday. It's a very beautiful sounding guitar. I've played about 40 guitars this past two weeks. By far, the clarity and tone of this guitar is phenomenal for the $399 I paid. It instantly stood out even against the other Seagulls I played. Some thing about the body shape and cedar top. The clarity of the guitar is just beautiful. The notes come out with a full, crisp rounded fInish. I bought it as a back up guitar in live performance. The Godin m450 is very nice and very versatile. Truly a nice instrument. Highly recommended.
I got a S 6 naturel and a 12 string Seagull and several others acoustic western guitars but im very happy for the seagulls and its always then i end up using
I bought a S6 the other day and I’m in love with it. It was discounted to $325. My friend has a Seagull and the moment I played his I knew that’s what I needed.
I have one and cannot put it down. Thought about selling it to get a higher end guitar (to add to my already too many collection) but I like it too much and for what I paid for it, it's like a free play! Excellent guitar to pick up, pick or strum!
I've been spending a lot of time trying to find a intermediate guitar. I have a Yamaha FG730S but I've always had my eye on one of these Seagulls. The lineup can be confusing as of all the variations and a lot of the variables are NOT listed on the spec sheet. The guitar being discussed, The S6 Original, of all I played below the solid wood series is the nicest. I am not interested in the electronics at this point, so this one works for me. 1 3/4 in nut and decent spacing is nice. Very woody sounding and feeling with no heavy finish like my Yamaha (the Yamaha is a nice guitar but the seagull just feels more organic due to the very thin finish). The Cedar top gives a nice earthy feel and great organic tone. I played the entourage style but it has a shorter scale length (not a bad thing) and the more narrow nut. I went back forth for about an hour and determined the wider nut helped with fret hand fatigue. I also feel like in the long run that it will help me develop my fingerstyle technique. I even tried the Entourage cutaway but it did not have the tone unplugged that the non cutaway Entourage had. Usually this doesn't seem to make an effect on tone on other guitars but I thought it did on the Entourage. In short I think the S6 Original is the nicest I played. I think in their laminate side and back models are the best bang for the buck for sure. Going into their solid woods price range opens a lot of other options and brands. But Seagull and the Yamaha FG are the best in their price range and I like the feel of the Seagull better. Cant wait to get one with phosphorous bronze strings.
rsaathoff Do you like the S6 Original better than S6 mahogany Deluxe? I’m looking to buy a Seagull S6 and just trying to learn more about the different models they have.
I just got a new Seagull Original S6. I've been playing on it constantly for the last two weeks. However, recently I started noticing a very very high pitched frequency when playing basic chords like C and Am. The sound is like a dog whistle and is kind of ear piercing. Is this normal? It seems to be coming from the B and high E string. I know they're suppose to be high pitched but the sounds seems extreme.
Today I tried two seagull him Excursion and S6 and the truth is that I have been amazed with the sound quality both as connected disconnected. I returned home for my credit card lol. My new S6 is underway.
Fuck D15 ! It's way overpriced like the Taylors...this is the shit right here ! It's like a steal, you probably had regrets for buying your overrated and expensive Martin...:D
+Kenneth Tan Quantum I Electronics vs the Fishman Sonitone on the Mahogany Deluxe. Depends if you prefer the deeper tones of mahogany or the brighter Ceder and Wild Cherry :)
+Phoil2003 In general Spruce is a bit lighter, more clear and a bit more projection, whereas cedar is generally a bit warmer, darker and fuller sounding.
Yes, I would also like to know why Tom capos it to the second fret myself. He plays beautifully, and displays the guitars that he plays very well-I appreciate him and what he has taught me about tone on the various Seagull guitars he's demoed. Great job Tom, and Jim! Though I would like to hear more playing and less talk. The demos don't last long enough for me.
He plays heavy strings(3:50), so he is tuned down to DGCFAD. The capo on 2nd gives him standard tuning. I use same setup / tuning with EJ18 strings .59-14.
Bought this then bought the Gibson j15. Gibson rocks, I only use my seagull for playing on the beach or parks in summer. Sound diffrence is night and day
Климат в России как в Канаде, кедра и елок хоть жопой ешь. Почему у нас не делают гитары для Канады, ведь у них такой же климат и гитары будут дольше жить?
I just got this recently. Mainly because of the wider neck. Nice guitar but honestly tone and quality wise it is really inferior to my Cort made in China dreadnought at less than half the price. Yes, it is made in Canada and there is a good reason why iphones and almost every gadget are made in China and not Canada. The production cost is so much lower there that even my half seagull price Cort has better material and build quality than my Seagull. Seagull has a more unique headstock, nice cedar smell and interesting cherry wood back and sides. Quality finish and tone, I think my Cort is better.
Ehh most of the China guitars I've played/ owned were thick lackerd and sounded like a cardboard box. But then again a lot of people never get the chance to play 1000-2000$ guitars. American made and in this case Canadian made is the way to go. I've herd nothing but awesome reviews from the s6 i may have to pick one up.
Sometimes you get lucky. I’ve never played a bad Seagull. Yes I’ve played Seagulls that had their setups messed up by idiots, but the guitar was not bad. If you can find an aged one you will see just how great it will become. The original S6 to me is the signature Seagull tone. To me as great as any other iconic acoustic tones. My only complaint is that the slim is 1.72 instead of 1.75. That tiny bit is the difference between scrunched and comfortable. That’s ok though cause I like the 1.8. I’ve played plenty of Cort guitars and they’re about as consistent as the weather
Don't buy a Seagull. I bought an S6, which I rarely played. The first time I went to change strings, the little white plastic washers under the tuning keys were broken. Clearly, the keys had been torqued much too tightly during assembly, but Seagull refused to send me a new set of those washers. Multiple emails to the company about the issue have been ignored. They would rather lose a customer than send out a set of plastic washers that cost them pennies. This is the very definition of arrogant, apathetic customer service. They do not deserve your business. Buy another brand.
I've got a Seagull Coastline Momentum Cedar top and it sounds and plays better then any other guitar you can buy in a $600 price range. Nothing comes close.
